I was excited to find a self-serve dog wash in our neighborhood, fairly close by and at a reasonable price. First couple of visits went fine. Everyone was super friendly, but I noticed that a couple things that were really lacking: adequate towels and a clock inside the washing room. I've mentioned both before during check out. When you're selling dog washes, apparently lots of people want them. This was probably my 5th wash and every time someone gets in line behind me. For someone like me with ADHD no way to measure time passing in a shared space and with soapy hands making me keep my phone in my pocket? No clock is a distinct disadvantage (feel free to interpret that as ABLEIST because you're introducing hurdles that only impact ND folx). Hearing there's someone in line behind you and you've got 15 minutes -- is stressful especially when there's no clock and the towels are barely thicker than a paper towel. It makes the task is exponentially harder to finish quickly. I had to walk to the front when I realized that while she time checked me, the lady working but didn't bother asking if I needed anything and that no more towels were coming. Bit strange having to beg for more towels when she literally commented "gosh, is that a fluffy dog!" as we signed in. Yeah my dog has a double coat which you have acknowledged seeing so I don't know why you're trying to cheap out on the towels? It was actually a safety hazard. There was water everywhere because I could not get enough of his water out of his coat in order to walk him safely from the washing room to the front counter even after the second batch of towels. I mentioned it was unsafe and I wish I'd have gotten more towels when I asked for them, and also that it was difficult to keep moving within their timeframe/to be respectful to the other guest when there's no clock available. The lady working could not have cared any less. She didn't acknowledge my concern just dismissed. "Oh if there wasn't someone waiting behind you, I wouldn't have hurried you." Well no kidding and I wouldn't need a clock if I wasn't trying to be courteous. I could have taken my own time and been in there long enough to get my dog adequately dry. Instead I had my dog dripping water and soaking into my car seats when I left the dog wash. If that's a dog wash is a service that you're prepared to offer, please do it so that people can have a successful experience. Today blew really hard but actually it's the same challenges I've faced before when using their service and today decided I'm not their ideal customer with my expectations. Pet Planet should think about some ways to ensure people want to come back or at least feel they gotten enough of what they paid for to move on with their day. If I knew I'd only get the wash half done I wouldn't have started. A wet husky/malamute is a recipe for a stinky dog and or skin problems from being wet too long. I'm hoping we don't end up with an unexpected vet visit after this. read more

Always a smiling person to greet you as you walk in. Everyone I talk to seem to know a lot. Heather has helped me several times and been a big help. Trying to find a right healthy dog and cat food at a reasonable price is not easy and takes a lot of research. I had no idea how much time it takes and how much there is to learn. read more

My first visit was great. It's expensive but I'm all right with that when the prices reflect good quality products. On my second visit I walked in to get my dog a good chew toy. I opened with "my dog is a very heavy chewer." I told them he destroys tennis balls in a matter of days. The toy I was given lasted less than an hour. I didn't expect the toy to last forever, but it seemed obvious to me that it should last longer than a normal tennis ball. Which it did not. I brought it back within 24 hours. With a receipt in hand as proof. I was not expecting a refund but just an exchange for a stronger toy. The employee refused saying it was not a part of their policy. The girl who helped me was new. I've been shopping at this location for 3 years now and I've always had great service. Today I went to get Sampson my doggie his monthly fix of kibble. I was helped by Ryan and he was helpful and knowledgeable. He recommended a broth for Sampson I'd asked if he knew of a soft kibble due to Sampson not eating all kibble and struggling with chewing it. I literally downloaded Yelp to write this review because everyone should hear how amazing these guys are (special shout-out to Jeff and Louisa)! Rewind to a few weeks ago, I had a monster of a vet estimate to contend with after exams revealed both my cat and dog would need dental surgery to extract teeth, alongside an ear infection and some weight issues for my kitty. Vet advised to continue feeding her even less of the $60 bag Z/D, despite her hangry responses, which was when I became alarmed...the teeth, sure, she's older I accept that. But ask yourselves: if you're already feeding an animal the bag's weight band recommendation and they've lost no weight after a year, have coat issues and food aggression...then you're told to give them less? It seemed illogical and I followed my instincts to Pet Planet. Jeff was having NONE of it...he agreed that was not a good idea and recommended a great kibble (Nulo) for my cat that I can say with certainty is a way better fit for her and my purse ($22 vs $60). She's no longer hangry and even has kibble leftover the next day, her coat's improved and she's happier overall. For her ear infection he showed me a $12 bottle of ear cleaner that worked for dogs and cats. She even got samples of other dry food to try and a wet food. For my dog I explained she too was seemingly packing on pounds and had some dandruff, Jeff again gave me samples of Amica to ensure she had a flavour she would like. At checkout they even gave me a little baggy of dog treats and helped me sign up for their rewards programme. FYI, we've since been back since my dog loves the Amica kibble and bought a bag! BUT THEY DIDN'T STOP THERE. After hearing the exorbitant price of tooth extractions for just my cat, Louisa and Jeff gave me a flyer for Dr Kelly who provides discount mobile veterinary services. Fast forward to today. My girls are recovering from their surgeries with Dr Kelly that they had on Wednesday (we managed to snag a cancellation)... the estimate from the vet for my cat (2 teeth) was $2,500. Upon inspection Dr Kelly determined those and two additional teeth needed extraction, a total of $472 including antibiotics/medicines and that her ear infection was gone. For my dog who ended up having some overgrown gum removed and 14 tooth extractions along with multiple days of pain meds and antibiotics, $834. Dr Kelly total: $1,306 Myself and my animals will give our business exclusively to Pet Planet from here on out and continue to share this story. I am fairly certain I've never had such a phenomenal experience. Jeff and Louisa were knowledgable, personable and kind hearted employees who genuinely know shit whilst giving a shit about your pet. She quickly made friends with my fearful and nervous dog, which is not always an easy task. She recommended her favorite products and tips. She helped everyone that came in the store, and wasn't annoyed with my indecisiveness. In fact, she gave me a free 1lb sample of one of their foods to try, so I didn't have to commit to purchasing it right away. I was very appreciative of her help and kindness to me and my dog. I had a great experience with getting my nervous rescue dog's nails trimmed. I was a wreck from trying to trim his nails myself and for $12 I didn't hesitate to have Jen do it. I'd pay $12 all day for someone quicker, calmer and more knowledgeable to do it. The staff was helpful, greeted us when we walked in, discussed what I was purchasing with me, and Jen was so kind to Mateo through the stressful process of a nail trim. She explained every step/why she was doing what she was doing and helped me come up with a plan for getting his long quicks to recede. I left with a bag of free treats, coupons, and a happy dog. I am so grateful to Jen at Pet Planet! My dog has pancreatitis and it's been a struggle for 3 years finding food that doesn't cause a flare up. After months of bloody stool, diarrhea and expensive tests at the vet, we decided to go into pet planet and see if they recommended a specific food for his condition. Jen had answers and info that our vet could or would not even relay! After just a few days our little guy had solid BMs without a trace of blood and his energy and playfulness sky rocketed to something we haven't seen since his diagnosis! I love this place, they have everything you can think of for healthier and more natural dog food/treats/toys/supplies. Plus Jen is amazing and will take time to talk to you about any issues you may be trying to address, and she knows every single product carried in the store. She even knows the ingredients in everything. She helped me when my baby boy had lymphoma, when my baby girl needed tplo surgery, when both had random digestive issues, and so on. Time limit on using the bathtub? I have always had the best customer service coming here, until today. I buy all my dogs treats here and other necessities. I don't normally give my dog a bath because he goes to his groomer, with COVID-19 shutting pretty much everything down my groomer has closed until May. My dog needed a bath so the first place I thought of was Pet Planet... Everything started off fine, keep in mind I have a 120lb dog so he takes a little longer to wash and especially DRY. I was about 50% done drying him and one of the workers comes by and says "you about done, I have another customer needing to use the bath, take about 5 more minutes." I am a paying customer and waited my turn to use the bath as well. So I did the best I could with drying my dog as I was rushed out of there. If I would of known there was a time limit I wouldn't of used the bath, as I stated I have a large dog and it takes a little longer to wash and dry him.....I won't be returning. read more

I walked into to this store and was instantly impressed. A dear friend recommend this specific Pet Planet. Walking into the store , I felt almost like I was walking into an old friends house, instead of a pet supply store . The owner is so friendly, upbeat, and very knowledgeable. She even carried the big bags of dog food I purchased out to my suv, even though I had my son with me. She insisted with a smile. Unbelievably negative experience. I stopped buying food here after a staff member became annoyed with me for asking questions about the food he recommended (pulsar) which i later found out is very low quality. But they are still the closest dog was to my house. I had to sign a contract in order to wash my dog with very small print. The contract cites that i am liable for all their equipment. When i asked about it, I was met with immediate anger and defensiveness. When their equipment breaks, they're going to blame it on a poor unsuspecting customer and force them to pay for it, probably several hundreds if not thousands of dollars. Please be careful of this place, they don't care about their customers and they certainly don't care about dogs. read more

Jen was so patient with us and helped our shy (and stubborn!) girl feel as comfortable as possible even though it is difficult for her to walk and stand due to hip problems. My dog Molly hates to take baths, so we only bathe her when we really have to. I heard about Pet Planet's self wash and decided to give it a try. It was a lot easier on me and Molly without the cost and hassle of a groomer. They had several different soaps and the water was the perfect temperature. We picked up a few bones and a squeaky toy and Haley hooked us up with some treat samples as well. Great service, friendly staff, and a clean, well-lit store. We'll definitely be back! read more
