I made an appointment a month in advance, took time off work. Responded "yes" to their confirmation text the day before and arrived 10 minutes before my appointment. When I arrived, they said "oh, you didn't see our text?" "What text" i asked... she informed me they are a hour behind and could not see me. They apparently texted me 15 minutes before my appointment to reschedule another day, when I would have to take off more work. Had they given me more notice, I could have found somewhere else to go. I went to this place last year and had a good experience. I drive 35 minutes or if my way to go there My appointment was at 4pm. At 4:46 the doctor called in a guy who had walked in like 10 minutes earlier. At this point it was pretty obvious i wasn't getting seen anytime soon. When I told the lady i just want to cancel, they didn't seem to care all that much, just asked if i wanted to reschedule. I told her no that I would be going elsewhere. Then ironically they send a cancelation email saying thanks in advance for letting us know you don't have the time. Seriously, it should apologize that you had an appointment but we didn't have the time to see you. Their reply shows exactly how little they care about their customers. If you are in a hurry to get your glasses, don't go here. I had my exam December 1st and it took 5 weeks to get my glasses. I had to send my glasses back to adjust the bifocal and it's taken another 5 weeks and I still don't have them. Each time I was told it would take a week to get them. Worst service ever. I have been at this establishment twice for eye exam and prescription refill. Once for myself and the second time I took my seven year old boy. At my arrival, I was greately very nicely by the staff, and was made aware if there was a slight waiting time on the doctor's end. I received reminder calls for my appointments, and when our glasses arrived (which both times was within two week period) I also notified promptly. Jacqueline was nice enough to help us both pick our best fitting glasses according to our facial features and age. And gave great recommendations as far as durability, and price range. Nice staff but frustrated that the glasses I ordered back in March 7th, 2022 have not been delivered as of today (it's almost been 2 months). They have not taken the initiative to call me to give me any updates, I have to keep calling them. I asked to cancel the order and initiate a refund but was told that it was too late to do that, so I'm having to wait until they are delivered but they cannot provide an estimated date of arrival. This is the first and last time I will be using the services at this establishment. I'm extremely disappointed with the service and urgency of this office. Would not recommend at all. read more

Amazing customer service to say the least, the owner of the place (Ilian) is just so friendly, extremely patient and always willing to help. The staff there also incredibly friendly. The selection of frames they have is really good, best in town I would say. After I received my eye exam, they did provide me a copy of my prescription however I misplaced it. I needed my prescription and their location is a bit far from where I live, so I emailed Ilian asking for a copy, with in hours she responded with a copy of my prescription. If I could rate this place lower, I would. I went in in October with a Groupon deal and my prescription in hand. Not only was the deal not explained correctly, the manager was completely rude about it, saying I obviously didn't understand the deal and that the glasses would be close to $300. I ended up paying $186, after having to come in multiple times to get the issue resolved. I found it somewhat amusing that the only reason the manager talked to me about it was because after his first refusal to discuss, I asked for the district manager's contact information. I am writing this review now because I have been unable to wear the glasses, and recently had them tested at my regular doctor, and they weren't even cut to my prescription!!!! Which completely explains why I haven't been able to wear them without getting headaches and nausea. Avoid this place like the plague, absolutely terrible. read more

The frame on my favorite glasses had broken. I went to a few different places who either said they could not fix them or they said they would have to send them away for repair. I walked into Site for Sore eyes just to inquire if they could do the repair, and they fixed them right on the spot. They did a fantastic, thorough, clean job. I can use my favorite glasses again and I am so happy!!!! I really appreciate how helpful they were and the staff was very professional. Even the owner came out and was very kind and professional as well. They truly know good customer service and show it is important to them. I had been going to LensCrafters for many years but with their dwindling customer service & their lack of affordable frames that fit well, I am glad I stumbled upon Site For Sore Eyes. I walked in last year & was immediately greeted by Jeff. As soon as I told him that I was having difficulty finding frames for my wide templed face, he immediately went to his frames display & pulled out the three frames he suggested. They all fit & I was able to choose one to my liking. My husband received glasses from this place 2 years ago. The glasses themselves were awesome! My husband loves them. However, there is a downside. When we recently went somewhere else to get our eyes checked, the doctor told us that my husbands left lenses in his glasses were wrong. The prescription was upside down!!!!! I'm really not a big reviewer, although I love when people write reviews as I always use them when I'm researching something I want, but when I read the first review from the woman that did not have a good experience with Site for Sore Eyes and Jeff, I wanted to post a review from someone that has been doing business with Jeff and Vicky for eight years so all you out there reading reviews for this location of Site for Sore Eyes could have a fair view from both sides, someone that when there for the first time and someone that has been going there for eight years:) I started going to this location of Site for Sore Eyes eight years ago, back when it was Vision Optical. This location is still owned by Jeff and Vicky Kirby, this is the reason I continue to do business now that it is Site for Sore Eyes. I met Jeff when he first moved to this location eight years ago, I broke my glasses and needed help quickly as I cannot see with out my glasses:) At the time I did business with an Optical Store in San Francisco, too far to go for a quick fix. Jeff was very kind to fix my glasses for free even though I did not purchase them from him. We got to talking, I told Jeff that I love Eyeglasses like other ladies love handbags and shoes so I have an extensive collection. Since my job has me traveling across the US, Europe and Central America quite a bit, one of my favorite things is to collect Vintage Cateye glasses and other Vintage frames. However since the frames were so old and my prescription is very strong, most Optical Stores did not want to handle them for Lens. Jeff told me no problem he had an outstanding Lab in New York that does very well with Vintage Eyewear. I decided to give Jeff a try for two reasons, one, he has been an Optician for thirty years and was very knowledgeable on all the latest techniques and material for Lens during our conversation and two, he was so kind to fix my glasses for free, the rest is a Vintage Eyeglasses history:) Jeff has probably put Lens in no less than twenty pairs of Vintage Eyewear for me over the last eight years, I guessing as I'm afraid to actually count;) All done spectacularly well even a pair or two from the forties. I keep going to Jeff for several reasons, he had no problem with me bringing in Frames that I purchased either abroad or stateside. Vicky and Jeff are always enthusiastic to see what new frames I've brought home and would always give me their honest opinion whether they looked good on me or not so I always knew they weren't just looking for the next sale, if you make a mistake and hate your glasses Jeff will let you redo the Lens one time for free into another frame you purchase and their prices for both Frames and Lenses are very reasonable. I have also bought Frames from Jeff for Sunglasses, Computer Glasses and Readers, he carries classic to a bit funky which appeals to me:) We had a heck of a time getting my Computer Glasses right but Jeff wouldn't give up until I could see at the distance I needed for my Laptop. I think we must of spent several visits and several hours total to get it right, just not so easy with the strength of my prescription. Even since switching his business to Site for Sore Eyes, Jeff still carries extensive lines of different brands of Frames like, Coach, Maui Jim, Scott Harris, Ed Hardy and especially Ray Ban, Jeff has one of the largest collections of Ray Bans in Salinas. Jeff makes it possible for people from all walks of life to afford one even two pairs of glasses on any budget with the wide range and prices of Frames he carries. Both Jeff and Vicky truly care about all their customers and give them individual time and attention during their visit. Vicky handles the front desk and insurance, she is very professional but very friendly, honest about how your frames look on you, I had her tell me no way a few times and she was right:D, and does your insurance discount quickly. She's a gem:) Last, as I said my eyesight is not as good as I would like it it be so I am touchy about what Optometrist I go to have my eyes checked. When Jeff opened Site for Sore Eyes in this location he brought on an Optometrist that is also medically certified, pretty great for a franchise. I decided to give her a try, her name is Dr. Ann Truong Lan, her eye exams are very through and she explains as she goes along. We discussed nutrition for eye health which was a first for me but very informative and since I travel so much I put some of her suggestions in to action. You have the choice of having your eyes dilated or not, never my favorite but necessary with my strong prescription, during the same visit. At the end she will ask if you have any questions then take the time to answer until you understand. A very good eye exam, take it from someone who has been wearing glasses since third grade and have had more eye exams then I care to count!:) This is my opinion about this Site for Sore Eyes, Jeff/Vicky Kirby in a nutshell, I hope it helps:) read more

this place is a complete joke. i paid over $300 dollars for my glasses and lens and that was with a groupon for half off of the frames, making the total for my frames only $75. my glasses broke while still on my face, the frames just popped. When i went to talk to the manager (Jeff) he told me that i had a warranty but i had just missed it by 3 days. a friend of mine went in on a few occasions for a damaged nose guard and he replaced the entire frame twice, she also has no warranty. this guy just picks and chooses who he wants to help. ive been wearing broken glasses for some time now because i cant afford new frames at the moment and this guy is just giving free ones out to people that he likes. to be honest, i want to punch the guy, but i wont because im a lady. read more
