My dog has been attending Sitting Pretty since he was around 12 weeks old, and it has truly been the absolute best experience. My Italian Greyhound has always struggled with confidence, but he found a second home at Sitting Pretty. Since he started going, I've watched his confidence grow so much, and he has the best time every single visit. The staff is wonderful. All of the girls are incredibly sweet, genuine, and truly compassionate toward the dogs in their care. Ashley is extremely knowledgeable and is always willing to answer questions, offer advice, and share her expertise. The facility is always clean and well kept, with plenty of play equipment and multiple bowls of fresh water available. One of my favorite things about Sitting Pretty is how much outdoor time the dogs get. They have a beautiful turf area where they can run, play ball, and socialize. I'm so grateful we found this hidden gem and a place where I genuinely feel comfortable leaving my dog. Seeing how excited he is to go and how happy he is when I pick him up says everything. I've been coming here for awhile, and sadly it's time to find another boarder. The prices go up, the services become less, and my confidence has vanished. When I first came here, it was $45/day and a complimentary bath if the dog stayed there for more than five days. It's now very difficult to get a response when inquiring about availability. And, it appears the neighborhood is changing, and not for the better. In the past, the neighbors would shoot off fireworks on the weekends immediately before, during, and after July 4th. Now, it seems to be a regular occurrence. Many dogs cower with fireworks, and my Black Lab is no exception. I was supposed to pick up my dog tomorrow morning. Fortuitously, I came back a day earlier because my luggage was stolen. So, when I called about when to pick up my dog tomorrow, I was told about my dog's experience with the fireworks. I ended up having to pick him up this evening. Traveling these days is especially stressful, and I don't need the additional stress of worrying about a beloved pet. I never did before when I boarded my dog here, but I have over the last 3 times. I had been too busy to research another venue. But, now, I'm proactively going to find another establishment. In short, now, you can expect delayed responses on inquiries, multiple expectations on when YOU can show up to drop off or pick up your dog, and a equivocation on what they will and will not provide. On the other hand, bills for service-- although often error-probed-- are delivered with stunning alacrity. It pains me to write this review. Nevertheless, I have seen a huge decline in the service that precipitated 2-3 years ago while the prices continued to rise. (To wit, look at reviews that have been 5-9 years ago, and those within the past 3 years. Something has changed.) Sitting pretty dog resort is one of our favorite place to keep our dogs with less or no worries, while out of town. They have a cool set up for dogs to play outside, and inside, while supervised. We felt very confident to leave our two Frenchies here, after our meet and greet with Ashley. We found her knowledge of this breed satisfying and comforting. Lets face it Frenchies are not the easiest dogs to take care of. They cannot get too cold or too hot.. or jump up and down the furniture..... We kept our dogs here anywhere from 2-6 nights and didn't worry about their well being during our trips. While we had plenty not so great experiences with Rover, sitting pretty never disappoints. We appreciate Ashley's experience and ethusiasm about dogs' well-being. PS: most bad reviews came from people that never had their dogs stay at sitting pretty, complained about their prices (that are actually pretty reasonable and competitive for the area), and from people that don't read their requirements (such as wanting to board a large dog in a facility that only cares for small and medium dogs). Ashley and her staff are wonderful, I can't say enough good things about them! Dogs get to play in a cage free environment, under a 5 to 1 ratio of supervision. Great set up, there is Astro tuff between houses for the dogs to play on and inside of the home as well. My dog trainer, Brian Lee, highly recommended Ashley and her pet sitting to socialize my three month old puppy. I started off bringing her twice a week just for socialization purposes which was fantastic. Ashley and her team helped potty train her as well. When my schedule suddenly changed and I needed full-time pet sitting, Ashley accommodated me. I recently had a three night vacation, and used them for overnight boarding. Everything went seamless! I love Ashley, Barbara and all her staff. They treat my dog with love, giving her lots of cuddles and people time too. Great place! read more

I can't say enough good things about Sitting Pretty. Ashley, the owner, is amazing. She is so easy to reach and talk to and is willing to answer any questions and discuss any concerns. My dog is not an easy guy to handle as he is very high energy, but I know that he was well cared for and loved there. The staff is super knowledgeable and they really listen when you tell them about any extra needs your dog might have. They also do a meet and greet before accepting your dog, which is awesome because you get to see their set up, see how your dog reacts (they tested my guy with a big dog and a little dog) and Ashley gave me tons of references for all things dogs, ie: grooming, training, vet care etc! Oh and they post almost daily pics of the dogs playing on their Facebook page! read more

I was referred here by another dog service. But beware they lack consistency, knowledge of their address and phone number. They schedule appointments without viewing their schedule. They only do meet & greets on Mondays, Wed & Saturday. They called me back within hour(s) rescheduling for a Thursday or two weeks out. Needless to say I was not happy. This is where I want to leave my four legged child? Think not! The owner identified herself and proceeded to tell me what I may need? Most unprofessional individuals. This is the best dog boarding service I have ever used. Ashley took amazing care of my nearly 17 year old Bichon. I couldn't find anywhere to take such an elderly dog and I had to go on a worktrip. I was terrrified to leave him because he wears diapers and is somewhat blind and deaf. But they took amazing care of him and updated me several times a day. In fact, they took such good care of him that I think he was even in better shape after his stay there. They also did a beautiful job grooming him. Ashley and her staff are fantastic. read more

Please let me preface this review by saying that I have never actually had my pets taken care of by this company. I contacted her for service two or three weeks before I was leaving town for 6 days, and had several wonderful conversations with her on the phone. After telling me she put my dates in her book and that my service was confirmed, we tried to schedule a house visit so that she could meet the animals, see where the food, etc. was, and pick up the key. The day before the house visit, she told me she would call the next morning to give me a definite time. This is now four days before I have to leave town. I called her repeatedly, left voicemails, but without result. I never heard from her again. I am sure she is wonderful at caring for pets, but this egregious lack of follow-up, and abdication of responsibility after I was told my dates were confirmed, is very unprofessional. Fortunately I was able to find a last minute sitter, or I would have had to kennel my pets. I just couldn't believe it. read more

Any less than satisfactory or 5 star rating is because a pet owner may want something that has simply not been communicated or that may be unreasonable. We have a German boxer with Croatian champion bloodlines and we love him. However, we are also full-time professionals with young children. Ashley has provided consistent consultation, remedy, and emergency assistance for our dog. We were out of the country and needed to have our Kobe transferred to her mid-trip and Ashley made it happen. This is even after several changes prior to the trip. We value Ashley so highly and we consider her a friend. She is the female dog whisperer and we appreciate her and the services that she provides. She provides a spa, fellowship and amusement park experience for your animal - period. Our Kobe loves her. My First Boston terrier (Fiona) started at Sitting pretty when she was about 4 months old. Fiona loves to lick, and follow humans, not so sure she cares much about the other dogs. This was my first dog ever, and Ashley helps with all kind of dog-related advise, such as how to get an emergency kits, and what should I watch for when traveling to foreign countries. (Fiona travelled with us). My second Boston is a social creature that never stops. She moves, runs, barks (now getting better), and wants to play with all the other dogs. Ashley trained Ducati with the crate. Every mornings, the dogs are earner to go, they know they are going to the doggie day care, and they circle the car. They get very excited when they arrive at the daycare. Ashley has been great. On one occasion, a bee bit Fiona, Fiona was all swelled up, and Ashley took her to the vet. I cannot believe that anyone would give Sitting Pretty less than 5 stars! This is the ONLY place that I will board my dog. I tried boarding him at one of the popular veterinary offices in the area and he came home traumatized. We tried one of the larger cage-free facilities in the area and he was clearly overwhelmed by the chaos. My dog is as interested in human interaction as he is dog interaction. When he stays with Ashley I know that he is receiving the love and attention that he is accustomed to. Sitting Pretty is my dog's second home. We have been bringing him to Ashley for years. Not only does he sprint out of the car and into her yard when we arrive, he is so thrilled to be there, that he doesn't notice when I leave! For a dog with separation anxiety, that is a big deal! I used to work in Torrance and I could bring my dogs to work and keep them in their kennel in the warehouse because they were both small and fairly well behaved for Miniature Pinschers... I needed to find a day care when the offices were being remodeled and we had some visitors coming from Korea so I found that I was only a few blocks from Ashley's and another day care. After visiting both places I decided on Ashley's because she had a better layout that was more fun for the dogs than a big warehouse with a concrete floor. My Min Pins especially liked the "laundry room" where they could tunnel into a big comforter & sleep. Ashley was very good about giving them their special diet & chewies. Sadly, I'm no longer working there but if I ever need day care in the South Bay again it will be with Ashley, she's the best! read more

Ashley is our life-saver! Our dogs love her and love being around the other dogs she has there. They always have a ball and are well-taken care of at Sitting Pretty. We've left them for both daytime care and overnight stays. Our dogs normally have a lot of anxieties around other people, but they are always very comfortable and excited when staying with Ashley. She has that magic touch and is very responsible, trustworthy and well-informed about dog care. We love the fact that the dogs are not kenneled, but they can run free and sleep in regular open dog beds. Her pricing is very reasonable too. The owner has been consistently pleasant, as have the other workers I have met. My dog (Lilja) has the best time whenever she stays over. As a matter of fact, I think she may like it better than home sometimes! I have had Sitting Pretty stay with Lilja while I went out of town and everything went smoothly. So I was using this daycare for my 3-month old Kuvasz puppy. Things were going well till the owner, Ashley, decided to change her disposition this week. It started on Monday when she reported that my puppy had loose stool. So I decided to keep her at home for a couple days till her condition improved. I gave her some banana with every meal and a dietary supplement that is supposed to firm up the stool. By Wednesday evening, the stool had firmed up and wasn't liquid at all. So I let her know that I would be bringing my puppy on Thursday. Her morning poop was still as firm as can be. Sometime in the afternoon, Ashley texted me and told me that my puppy's poop was loose again and that she had gone three times in the same hour. I was a bit skeptical but I thought maybe she had eaten something at the daycare that she shouldn't have. When we got home, my puppy supposedly no longer had the "runs" and she went to sleep. IF my puppy had the runs she would have continued at home right? My puppy's stool that night was at firm and hard as it was in the morning. I am not sure what motive she had for making up false stories. My other gripe with this place is that they charge you $10 MORE for puppies, because they're supposedly more work. This is the only doggy daycare to do so. The rate for adult dogs and puppies is the same at other daycares such as Petsmart, Canine Retreat, Camp Run-a-Mutt, etc and so in the future, I will be using these other daycare services. Please do yourself a favor and stay away from this so-called "daycare". read more

Ashley loves animals! She has boarded our dog, Lucky, for over 8 years. Lucky is an Australian Shepherd and chow mix. He needs lots of exercise and he gets it at Ashley's place.
