We really wanted to explore the Gastown side of town, and Yelp led us to this cute spot that did not disappoint. We arrived before sunset and found a cozy table upstairs. The view from the top was so romantic, watching the rain fall as the sun went down. Our waitress was excellent, especially considering it was her first day. I ordered the fish and chips, and they were absolutely delicious. C got the beef stew, and it was honestly the most flavorful stew I've ever had. The bathrooms were cute and clean, and the drinks were made perfectly. Overall, we highly recommend this place for lunch or an early dinner. The inside has a vintage-esque feel, and we were truly impressed. If you come to this part of town, plan some extra time to look around. We were just looking a spot to have a drink and relax. My wife loves people watching and were bouncing around Gas Town and found this spot. Greeted by a young Aussie bloke we chatted it up for a second as they were not busy and waiting for dinner service to begin. The view from the front window is probably the best in Gas Town. Watching all the people pose for selfies. Children running around with their parents snapping shots here and there. Just having a drink... or two. When searching for brunch spots in Vancouver a restaurant that kept showing up was Six Acres! Definitely known for their brunch deals this place was located in Gas Town which is perfect for those coming to see the Steam Clock. Upon arriving this place was in a historical building which really gives it that old school feel! We were greeted by the manager and bartender at the store who were so kind and gave us a little brief about the restaurant itself! For breakfast we tried the Six Acres Big Breakfast which had a very London feel to it with the beans and roasted tomatoes. It was delicious and quite filling for one person! 85 Cent Wings Monday! Can't miss a good deal. Came here with my friend for a good old wings night after work. It was raining that day so the place wasn't busy. We got the honey garlic wings and the tequila lime wings. They give you option for baked or fried wings and have the sauce tossed in or a dip on the side. Their wings are meaty and the honey garlic wings are amazing. The tequila lime was a little spicy and not bad as well. Their menu isn't very big so it's good for people with indecision. This cozy brunch spot in gastown is good for a Sunday brunch with a small group of friends. The service was decent as well as the food. I had the smoked salmon benny, which came with a drip coffee. I will say that I wish there was more hollandaise sauce on my benny as I found it to be quite scarce. I also found that the tables felt sticky, which isn't ideal. I kept seeing ads and sponsored posts about their $16 brunch deal, so I decided to check it out with friends. Unfortunately, this turned out to be the worst brunch experience I've had in Vancouver. First, we had made a reservation, but we were told to wait for about 10 minutes until our table would be ready. After we asked again, it turned out they had given our table away to other customers and asked if we would mind waiting at the counter table. After about 15 minutes, some tables on the second floor became available. The space was pretty tight with a low ceiling, but it was okay overall. What was egregious was that it took them an hour to bring our food out (avocado toast, salmon benedict, big breakfast). Lastly, the food tasted really average. As someone who isn't a great cook, I feel like there's a problem when I think I could make the same thing at home, if not better. The service seemed overwhelmed by the volume of customers, so they forgot to offer water refills, or we had to constantly ask for our table, food, etc. It's too bad, as I had initially planned to return for the Sunday roast, but this experience really left a bad impression. read more

So our friends wanted to go for happy hour before heading to dinner in Gastown on a Friday night. We made resos at 5pm. Happy hour is 3-6pm. We were five and because the lower bar area was full, we were sat upstairs, all to ourselves. It was a great area, and I'm thinking a great place if you wanted to book a private party for 20-25 people. We all ordered the happy hour drinks, house wine, beer on tap, negroni and tequila shots. Location and ambience is great! The service and food tho was just ok. Free coffee with the meal sounds good but it was really hard to get a hold of h the waiter, which was not his fault as they were quite busy.... couldn't get a refill of the coffee, hard to get a glass of water too. Waited quite a while for our food.. at least 40 minutes after being seated. We were grateful for being seated right away tho especially on a weekend. We ordered the samosa which was totally flat. If I am to go back again probably would get the bottle mimosa deal instead to ensure we actually get the bubbly. The salmon Benedict was meh. Mine looked like it was dropped on the floor and was a bit too hard. I prefer it a little runny. The hollandaise sauce was also bland. I had dinner at 6 Acres while visiting Vancouver, and I'm really glad I did. This spot is tucked into one of the city's most atmospheric and historic corners--Gastown--which already gives it a unique, cozy vibe before you even walk in. The building has that exposed brick and wood-beam charm that immediately makes you want to settle in for a long, relaxed meal. What really stood out to me was the service. From the moment I arrived, the staff were warm, welcoming, and genuinely attentive without being overbearing. Now, about the food. I'd give the overall food experience four stars I started with the Classic Poutine, which was exactly what I hoped it would be: rich, comforting, and full of classic Canadian flavor. Crispy fries with house gravy (unfortunately NOT THICK AS EXPECTED), and cheese curds (NOT MELTED AS EXPECTED) . We added the smoked bacon for a little extra indulgence (totally worth it), which added a salty, smoky depth. While I've had better poutine in Quebec, this was still a delicious version and a satisfying start to the meal. $16 = $4 bacon Next came the Crusted Cauliflower, which I was curious about. The panko-crusted florets were nicely fried--crisp on the outside, tender inside--and the buffalo sauce added a good spicy kick that was mellowed by the buttermilk ranch. That said, for $17, I did feel like it was a bit steep for what is essentially a shareable side dish. Tasty, yes, but I wouldn't order it again at that price point. Lastly, I tried the Chicken Burger, and while it was on the smaller side portion-wise, it really packed a punch in terms of flavor. The chicken was perfectly cooked, juicy, and seasoned well, with a nicely balanced set of toppings that didn't overpower the meat. It felt like a dish that had been thoughtfully put together, even if it wasn't as filling as I expected. t's a place I'd absolutely return to, especially if I was meeting friends for a casual dinner or looking to impress someone with a laid-back but classy atmosphere. This is a great bar to stop by when you care just as much about the food as you do the drinks. I feel like most bars do a mediocre job on food, but this place really steps it up a notch. They had a great patio, and we saw several pups, enjoying with their families. They even accommodated our giant great Dane and sat in the perfect place where he could be comfortable and not be in the way. Even my mocktail was fabulous, which is rare. I feel like a lot of times the nonalcoholic drinks are subpar at bars. Very friendly servers, and they were very attentive. The only food item I wasn't super impressed with was the sticky toffee putting it to take forever to come out and then I just seemed like a slice of kind of dry dense bread with a side of ice cream. While going to Alaska on a cruise for our 43rd anniversary , we stayed in Vancouver Canada a couple extra days to check it out. We went down to a main area in Vancouver and found this pub. This place and the people are amazing. They were busy ! but they attended to everyone in the quickest and most efficient way , as you would not have known unless you paid attention. The Mediterranean pizza was something that you get from a frozen aisle in a supermarket. The ingredients were cheaply scattered on it. The food was overpriced for this mediocre quality cuisine. The drinks were not much better, expensive with low quality. You will be ok if you go there but make sure you sit outside, position yourself to look at the lights and street, order fries, and beer. We decided to dine here after a long search in yelp for a good restaurant in Downtown Vancouver. I'm happy to say we weren't disappointed. The only downsides were that the place is super small and there's not a lot of seating and also the cokes tasted really weird, both diet and regular. It wasn't enough to ruin it for me though! It was 6pm on a Saturday night we arrived and it was packed! We were told we had to wait by they quickly brought out water for us while we waited for a table. It was about 20 minutes before we were brought upstairs to a cozy little candle lit table. It would be an excellent place for a date but we were there as a family this time around. They didn't have a kid's menu but suggested Mac and cheese for my daughter which she got and also a side of fries. I ordered the poutine and loved it! The waitress said it was a large dish but it wasn't compared to American standards so I could have easily eaten the whole thing. I also got the corn fritters which were to dye for!!! We stumbled upon this place while shopping for some souvenirs and wanted to get some happy hour drinks. Luckily, they had happy hour on the weekends as well. We were seated outside with a beautiful scenery. We wanted to try everything on the happy hour menu, so we got the poutine fries, cheddar corn fritters, mac & cheese, pimms cup, and gorgonzola hot pot (not on hh menu). The poutine fries were amazing. The little bits of cheese curds were so good with the gravy. I really enjoyed the fries since they were still crispy. The cheddar corn fritters was alright...it tasted like corn bread which is also not my favorite. The mac and cheese were so good! I dont know what kind of cheese they used but it was very gooey and not very pungent. The pimms cup was awesome! It had pimms ginger ale and cucumber. I really enjoyed it! As for the gorgonzola hot pot, that was my favorite dish! It's basically a cheese fondue. The baguettes that it came with for dipping was toasted with butter and the cheese was very gooey. The dish was not overwhelming at all and it made us want even more. Overall, we were all very happy sharing these happy hour munchies. The service was great, and he was very attentive. Best brunch in the city! Scored a table on the sunny patio situated in Five Corners where we could partake in the delight of Gastown people watching. We were warmly welcomed by Goda and Victor upon arrival and had freshly brewed coffee in hand within a minute of being seated. We ordered the Huevos Rancheros (with perfectly poached eggs, guacamole, hearty stewed beans and pickled onions) and the Classic Benedict (with Two Rivers back bacon, caramelized onion jam, pickled mustard seeds and the lightest, most luscious Hollandaise I've ever tasted.) Both dishes were balanced and well seasoned, comprised of quality ingredients prepared with care. We left feeling satiated but not weighed down. Fantastic value for plates of housemade deliciousness in a heritage space with friendly, attentive hospitality. We ordered the short ribs, beef sliders, mac and cheese, and lamb meatballs. The short ribs arrived quickly but it was just warm. I mentioned nonchalantly to the sever that the dish was "warm" and IMMEDIATELY, she removed the dish and said it was on the house. I mean I DID NOT want any sort of compensation, all I wanted was to let her that the dish was not hot and maybe mention to kitchen about it. She didn't ask for any other suggestions but rather took our dish (with two pieces left and I would be more than happy to pay for this dish then getting it taken off from my bill). I've always wanted to try Six Acres, but was never in the area or it didn't work out. Finally my friends and I were wandering around Gastown, we decided to stop in for some drinks. It was only 5:30PM so there were plenty of seats inside. The patio was unfortunately full as it's quite small. The drinks are a bargain especially the Whiskey, which was anywhere from 25-35% less than other places downtown. They have a good range of Whiskey on the menu, but they were out of the Tyrconnell and apparently it wasn't available when my friend tried to order it 2 weeks ago too. We ordered the poutine, which had red onions on top and instead of cheese curds, it was a softer type of cheese. Found this place completely by accident. Had reservations elsewhere and were just looking for a place to grab a drink ahead a couple hours before. Being in the touristy part of Vancouver we knew we'd have to settle for "meh" at best. After a couple hours of beer and drinks and popcorn (!) and fries (!!!), and AN AWESOME SOUNDTRACK, we decided to stay and explore the menu some more. Good choice.
