I took the vehicle to the local dealer for the body work and to have the 4WD inspected. The dealer informed me it would be $4500 for a transfer case, module, and labor. Insurance denied this portion of the claim so the expense fell to me. I had the vehicle towed to Certified Transmissions. Randy and team were amazing. I quick scan of the vehicle suggested it might only be the module. I authorized the work to further investigate and low and behold it was just the module. The communication and professionalism from Randy and team were first class. My total tab came out to ~$1200. Certified saved me thousands. They don't just throw parts at a problem. They get to the root cause so you only pay for the actual issue. Can't say enough good things about this shop. Hopefully I won't need their services again, but if i do, I know where to take my vehicle. Thanks Randy and Certified. Go Ichabods!! Follow up note: just received a hand written thank you note from Randy. These guys really care about their customers.

While I waited, I heard incessant banging in the shop, but I wasn't allowed in the shop to see what was going on. The mechanic came in and stated that a couple of items were loose and there was some leaking, but that it needed a new transmission, and he could not look me in the eye when he told me this. They quoted me $4500 to replace it and charged me $100 for the evaluation and said that you'd better get it fixed because it won't last much longer. The van did get worse after I left there, and I think they made it worse. I contacted another shop, and they stated that components can be replaced, and a filter and fluid change would fix the problem. This company is crooked and will help destroy what's left of your transmission so that they can aggressively upsell you a new transmission. They did not offer a cheaper fix, which could have been done, and treated me like I was an idiot. If I could prove they did damage, I would prosecute these criminals.

The car was ready to go within a few hours and I was able to make my next stop in time. The staff were friendly and direct, costs were reasonable. I said that I would have to stay with the car and she said no problem. I got there Thursday before eight in the morning and was told that I would have to leave the car, that they had a line that spanned days. I was taken by surprise and felt pressured that I must have missed something. Turns out for someone who can drop off their car and don't need it the same day they have a fine turnaround. If you have a fancy car that needs rare parts, it seams they are good at that. But for someone who needs new breaks while they are there, they don't have the mechanics to be able to take care of them. They are really nice people, definitely a family business feel about the shop. I hung out for almost two hours hoping they would get my car in early or just take a look to tell me what I definitely needed but still nothing. Realization that they wouldn't be able to do anything the same day and the fact that I couldn't get a ride led to me leaving without getting the service my car desperately needed. I ended up going to Grays auto in St. Mary's and they did the diagnostic appointment on Friday and then told me to come back Monday for new breaks and rotors. When I got there Monday, they told me an hour and a half wait they got me back in my car in an hour and twenty with pleasantness all round. I'm sorry I feel like I might have miss understood or had a miscommunication along the phone calls and yelp reviews and I hope this place thrives, I just wanted to share my experience. I struggle with communication and this was an ordeal for me. I will probably not be coming back here because of my need to stay with my car. I hope my rambling helps someone.

All the parts were already there except the brake line, which they obviously didn't know needed replacing until they got underneath of it. I just dropped it off after lunch and came back near closing time to pick it up when it was completed. When I dropped it off I did ask them to change the oil, which I was unaware they done until I got there and seen the signs. I already had all the oil in my SUV to do it with, but just didn't have the oil filter with me. I also asked them if they could replace the shocks since all the wheels were already going to be off. The mechanic told me that he could get it all done. I already had an estimate on the brakes and rotors before I got there. Obviously I didn't expect an estimate on the spot for the shocks or the oil change with the oil provided. I came back to pick it up and paid the bill, which was around the estimate they gave me. So I knew they didn't do the shocks obviously. I figured they at least done the oil change, but nope they didn't. My oil was still in the back of my SUV. I was very disappointed that it wasn't changed because it had been there several hours. The guys that ran the shop were very nice and the place was organized for a shop. I was thankful to get it in the same day too. Cons: 1. Not everything was done as I mentioned. 2. My ABS and brake dash lights were still on even after ALL of them were replaced. Disappointed they didn't take the time to reset these lights. They are a real pain in the butt on especially if I want to sell the SUV at some point!
