It genuinely felt like interrupting someone's first date. When she finally came over, she somehow managed to be both smiling and incredibly hostile at the same time. It takes a special talent to make an entire group feel uncomfortable while wearing a grin, but she pulled it off flawlessly. The passive-aggressive Olympics would have awarded gold. I have no problem with owners having personality, but treating customers like they're a burden isn't a business model--it's a fast track to empty tables. Add in parking her Jeep in the closest customer spot right in front of the entrance, and it gave off the impression that customer convenience wasn't exactly high on the priority list. If the goal is to use the bar as a personal dating lounge, that's completely fine--but maybe rename it something like F-boy Island, Love Is Blind: Happy Hour Edition, or The Bachelorette Tavern. At least then customers would know what experience they're signing up for. To be fair, the place itself is adorable. It's cozy, unique, and obviously decorated with a lot of love. Between the Christmas lights, faux clouds, flowers, and whimsical touches, it feels less like an Irish pub and more like someone combined Pinterest with a Hallmark movie. Honestly, I'd hire her to decorate a little girl's bedroom in a heartbeat. After reading other reviews, I was disappointed--but not surprised--to see that this doesn't appear to be an isolated experience. It's unfortunate because the food, drinks, and atmosphere have so much potential. A welcoming attitude from the owner would had made all the difference. I grew up in South Tacoma and am very proud of it. Quickly, my friends and I became regulars. It used to be such a good time. It's never been a very busy establishment, but we were able to play some pool, play whatever music we wanted, and just have a good time. The drinks used to be poured heavy, the servers were fun, and it became my favorite hidden spot. I even met the love of my life there, whom I now share children with. He was also a regular. I used to spend a minimum of $300 a month on shots, whether they were for me, my friends, or whoever wanted some! That was when the shots were $6.50 and poured fairly. Not to mention all the money I have spent on TouchTunes over the years. I even looked back at my bank records, and I'll mention that half the time I paid cash. But things started to change. I'm not too informed on the business side of it, but I believe the business was handed down from the owner to the owner's son. I have heard negative things from people and friends about the way he treats employees, and I've watched some of the most fun bartenders leave or get fired. The vibe just isn't the same anymore. The prices have also been jacked up to at least $10 a shot. Come on, just take a look around. There's barely anyone in there anymore. No one wants to go there because of the prices and because of the vibe that is there now. I have seen some of the improvements made inside the business, but that's not why we were regulars. We were regulars because of the VIBE. A lot of our regular music started getting blocked, and now the few good songs that are available are CENSORED!!! Really?! The bathrooms are gross they need a new remodel I won't eat there. The bartenders are what make a place like this. There was a bartender named Jen who I personally had a terrible experience with. Her attitude was bad, she was loud and unfriendly, and I often felt ignored when I was trying to order a drink. It seemed like she would rather play pool, smoke, or talk to someone than take my drink order. Eventually, we just stopped going. On the other hand, Tiny and Tina have always been good bartenders to us. Theresa too! At this point, we will pretty much only go if one of them is working. If you are the owner of this establishment and you're reading this and want to take some advice: don't just think about yourself when it comes to this business. Think about your customers. What do your customers want? Take a look at the cameras. Look at which days are busy, who is bartending, what music is being played, and what age groups are coming in. Pay attention to what makes people actually want to stay and come back. And if you're a customer reading this review, I know I can't be the only one who feels like the last 2-3 years have gone downhill. This place no longer feels like the home bar we used to love going to, and honestly, that makes me angry. We were loyal regulars.
