We saw the Spring 2019 Mamma Mia Show. It was superbly well done. The music, the actors, the stage.... everything. Mamma Mia was absolutely hysterical too. The producers did such an incredible job making everything come together in such a perfect manner. I was impressed with the talent behind each of the characters. The tour guide is the theater owner Valerie Stafford, and the tour starts in the theatre and then goes around the town. It's only a few blocks and the tour goes goes slow, so it's definitely walkable for most people. I won't say more about the tour because I don't want to spoil the surprise, but it's fantastically done. My friend who went with me (a historian and ghost hunter who has been on several ghost tours in places like Savannah and New Orleans) said is one of the best she's ever been on. What used to be the old Anacortes library is now a charming museum about the history of Anacortes…read more When we walked in there was a worker (seemingly a volunteer) who greeted us and walked us through some of the basic history of the city. Part of the museum talks about the boom and bust times and how Anacortes vied for the railroad to go through the city but failed to do so. There were also a lot of antiques from 100+ years ago like telephones, cash registers, and a piano. The other half of the museum was a photography showing off different local artists. The one thing that this museum taught me was the origin of the name Anacortes. The name came from a journalist's wife: Anna Curtis. I was also curious of the origins of the town name and I finally found it! This is a nice place to learn about the history of Anacortes and should be a stop if you're in the area and it's open.

Tractor goes 1 mile per hour. Save your time and money. A handful of rows have bloomed, they should delay the opening date if they know people are paying to see all of them. If they know they're not in full bloom, why open? I did my research and what I seen vs what I read did not match. In the surrounding areas, there were fields of tulips. If I'd of known better, I would've went to their farm instead. The farm should delay their opening if the customers aren't getting what is being advertised. Also sectioning out a few rows so that can be picked so that customers can have an immersive experience would be my recommendation. I have yet to go to a tulip festival where you can't pick. That's all. And I'm not trying to dig at this particular farm, but my personal experience was not the best and would hate for anyone else to have to go through that. Maybe call ahead to get your questions answered before relying on the site. As it did not state any of those things, and if it did, it was hard to find.

There's something nostalgic about Anacortes Cinemas compared to what I'm use to. No assigned seating, concessions in the front with a classic theater vibe. Was the experience flawless? No (lines for prepaid tickets, concessions, and new tickets was the same line - at least when we went which made it feel understaffed) but the experience overall was a good one. We saw Moana 2 and while this isn't a review space for the movie itself, it did help that the movie was good. Well located with some local shopping in walking distance I would definitely recommend stopping by when visiting Anacortes.
