Let me begin by saying, I hesitate to write this review because the place runs on volunteers; I…read moredon't like complaining about people who give of their time and talent to keep a place running. I also want to credit the one paid employee who's name I can't recall (Yulie? Lulie?), and the volunteers who were extremely nice and did their best to be helpful when we rented the venue for my daughter's wedding. Bless you, ladies. The positives: The venue itself is a pleasant banquet hall with a pool downstairs, a full kitchen, and a divided loft upstairs. The banquet room overlooks a beautiful, panoramic view of the water. The room itself is a blank canvas. It can be dressed up or dressed down to suit your needs. This place is a bargain. You do your own catering from their kitchen, which has everything you need, including chaffing dishes. Their fees are a fraction of what other venues charge. And, they provide everything for the set up, except the linens. The negatives. To be fair, there are mot many. The biggest problem is the volunteers who are not always professional. Most of them were very sweet and helpful, and they are apreciated. But there were several times when there were miscommunications which causes needless stress. The worst experience came while we were setting up, and this crabby old bat working the front desk kept yelling at our children. First, she objected to them playing outside. Then she objected to them playing upstairs. Then, when one of them was playing in the hallway, she yelled so loudly, she could be heard throughout the building. I had told her, repeatedly, to not yell at the kids, but to tell me or any of the adults. I never asked her to babysit. I never said not to correct them if she saw them acting badly. But yelling, name calling, insults and threats? I wasn't having it. She discovered that raising her voice at me was a very bad idea. Had it not been for that incident, I would've given this venue a higher rating.

I have to stress that the house is just gorgeous, and we have free access to all but private quarters. The setting is so peaceful, and it is lovely watching the horses. We had the Capt Don Suite, which was so nice. Two beds so we could get into a fight and sleep apart if we wanted to. (We didn't.) The suite is tricked out with all things pony. Very comfortable. We liked the place so much we have advanced reserved the Gallant Best suite for an upcoming stay, complete with ample living space, a crystal fireplace and hot tub all to our own on a little outside patio. Gregg is an amazing host and cook to boot! His breakfasts are generous and amazingly delicious--and on our three-day stay, nothing cooked for us was the same, so it was a joy to eat there. Plus Gregg is so fun to talk to. We enjoyed our breakfast time with him so much. I am not into B&Bs so much as I always feel like I am imposing on our hosts. Not so here. It was just comfortable, warm, welcoming and wonderful. There--a bunch of W-wonderfulness and wonders.

quite a drive for me living just south of Olympia, but well worth it, next time will give myself…read moremore time to enjoy the area & this amazing music shop. found Crossroads had the Martin in stock I was looking for thru the Martin website, had tried a big box music store near Seattle but pretty much ignored so walking into Crossroads & immediately greeted & attended to by Sara, one of the owners of the "mom & pop" musical instrument shop was very pleasant. The Martin Jr in stock was hanging with the other guitars was ready to play & she set me up to try it out. They had a good selection Martin accessories including a good assortment of guitar strings including the Martin brand so I also bought a spare set of the Martin LifeSpan Phosphor Bronze Light strings. I was short on time so did not get a chance to fully take in the ambience & experience of Dan & Sara's music store, but reading up on Crossroads before hand on their website & stepping into their store, I felt the warm embrace of some good vibes, and appreciate their community involvement in local music events in this very charming waterfront town. I like contributing to local businesses so I not only walked away with a very nice Martin acoustic electric guitar, it felt rewarding to give back. I hope to explore more of the Washington peninsula & look forward taking more time visiting Port Townsend & Crossroads Music.
