A year or two ago we lost our favorite skate place in Athens and weren't sure if we were ever going to find another place nearly as awesome. Enter Skate Country it's a bit of a drive for us but it's very nice it's always clean the rink floor is big and very kept up. They have arcade games and the DJ plays great jams (even some hits from my generation ). During the Summer, we have been going on the week days 11am-4pm make sure to check the schedule on their website before you go. The weekends are a little crazy with several birthday parties and lots of kids so we try to stick to week days. They also have themed nights which sounds so fun!! The staff is super nice and they have skate monitors who watch the kids on the skate floor and offer assistance to kids & adults when necessary. My family absolutely loves coming here to skate & we are so glad we found this place!!! read more

We came here for a private birthday party on a Saturday morning. There are a decent amount of parking spots, but not sure how it is when the place is super busy. There are no windows on the place, so the entry isn't super inviting, but once you get inside, it is a gem! The place you get your skates is on the right and the skates I got were in good shape and I was ready to hit the floor in no time. They have the white plastic guides for those who can't skate on their own and the floor is a standard size, with good smoothness. In addition, they have a medium amount of pay to play games and a ticket system where you can trade in your tickets for prizes at the booth. The DJ played a personal playlist for the party and the food area had a good amount of tables to hang out at. I'm so glad places like this are still around! read more

Went for a spring break day. Took the kiddo I was babysitting. Pricing to skate was great $7 for the whole day and we stayed for 5 hours. Everyone was super nice and helpful. Decent amount of people there great environment. -1 star because food prices were outrageous $3 for a 16oz fountain drink and no refills. Prices for all the food has very expensive and you can drink anything in not even a water bottle. Overall a good time just wish food was different. read more

Fun place to skate for the whole family. They have skate assists to help beginners roller skate. Rentals are pretty beat up and uncomfortable but they do offer both roller skates and roller blades. Came here for a birthday party and the kids and guests all seemed to be having fun. Overall, I find this skating rink to be a nice choice for skating and family fun. 3.4 stars rounded up. read more

My daughter requested a song like all the other kids. The DJ told her we don't play music in Spanish. I went to ask why ? And the answer was the owner doesn't allow that. I really don't think is bc they Don't "understand the lyrics"I been there many times and the music they play is pretty bad very sexual, hundreds of cursing words and more. I brought my 2 children to this establishment for the first time on a Friday evening, thinking it would be a great way for us to connect and have fun. WRONG!!!!!!! When we arrived, my son (10 yr old male) already had his skates on and we were told we couldn't bring "outside skates" and you can only rent skates because of their precious floor. Fine, whatever. Then, after an hour of skating my daughter (11 yr old female) was told to remove her hood by the floor guard in a very angry tone. Her hair wasn't properly done, and she explained that, however, apparently it is there policy and on the wall of the fucking exit door. It was then the point when I got involved to inquire what the situation was that security was enforced and I was being told if the hood isn't removed, then we needed to leave. By the way, hats are acceptable, but hoods aren't. I know, contradictory. What I haven't mentioned up until now is that the both of my children are a different shade. I'm trying not to say they were targeted, however, when you see others with lighter shades not being enforced with the same disciplinary rules, It's hard not for that to be a factor. When I told my son to wait so I can figure out if a refund is in order one of the older floor guards yelled in a very sly tone "NO REFUNDS!!!!" Needless to say, I would strongly suggest taking your business elsewhere. I normally drop my daughters off on Thursday evening if they have done exceptionally well in school of course lol. However they missed Thursday. So We decided to go on a Friday night. This particular night I came with them. I am a backwards skater therefore, I was excited about joining my daughter's and their friends only to be told I could not back skate for whatever reason. Unfortunately there were no signage nor anything indicated on the website that indicated No Backwards skating. After requesting a refund which was granted. I notice SEVERAL individuals skating backwards and being told not to do so. I'm a bit baffled as to why certain individuals were allow to skate backwards??? A few suggestions to the business owner. 1. Post Some type of signage via the website/ entrance regarding limitations. 2. The referee should be a little more visual for anyone skating backwards not just new customers to the facility. read more

This place is horrible and it's scary how they treated my kids! My 2 sons were spending the afternoon skating with their friends. My older son developed a blister and had to stop skating. He put on his regular shoes while his brother and friends continued to skate. The manager kicked my son out because she said he wasn't allowed to have his shoes on while in the building, he had to keep his skates on. My son had blisters, so he called me and I had to get my kids and cut their day short because of this! When I spoke with the manager myself, she was extremely rude to both myself and my kids. We have been going here for years but we will not be back! You don't treat kids like this. read more

I had my daughter's birthday party there and I wasn't impressed. On the initial phone call they do finish bY making sure I know the only way I can get the included invites is if I pick them up my self. Which I could deal with but was a little annoying.. The day of the party I show up with bags I in hand with decor, cupcakes and apples. This lady starts peEking in my bags without asking and says "outside foods are not allowed" ugh.... hello? I have 20 kids coming of which I have no idea if they have any allergies?? Her response is "make sure only those kids get one then." THEY DONT EVEN SELL APPLES. The only thing I did like was that they made it easy to add people and options and pay a lump sum at the end. But they do charge extra for inline skates and you better believe everyone there wanted inline. Why can't it just be I included?? Definitely not a great party place. read more

This Sunday, my group and I just left this place LIVID. Let me go ahead and write this review when it is still clear and fresh. We were going to go to Main Event for the boys birthday, however we wanted to do something different so we wanted to try Skating. Honestly, the worst manager and staff that my party and I have had to deal with ever! It was for the little boys birthday, unknowingly we did bring in a few decorated sugar cookies. When we sat down we were immediately approached by the Manager (White shirt and Bald), saying we could not have it here. We simply said OK, however we ALL had skates on except 1 of our friend Tony, who went to the restroom, so told the Manager we wanted to wait for him to come out to bring it to the car since he still had his sneakers on. The manager hastily said "Where where is he?!" he demanded and we said "Hes in the bathroom" by this point we were feeling like he came at us REALLY strong when we were 3 families with children. He left, then as we were waiting 2 of the kids started opening the cookies and took a bite then a Female staff came and told us "You guys cant leave those cookies here if you are gonna nibble on them" so we told her "ok we will stop however we will put it in the car we are just waiting for a friend right now"....so that should solve the problem right? APPARENTLY NOT. She went to report her manager and the same guy with the nasty attitude came out and literally reprimanded us about these damn sugar cookies! Mind you that it hasnt been even 5 minutes yet. We told him the same thing, and apparently he didnt believe there was Tony. He straight said to us "Oh I can be that way if you guys wanna be like that"....umm what is that supposed to mean???? Are we being watched over and attacked, this is handled so poorly. Sure enough Tony finally came out and had to hear him yelling at us adults regarding this silly issue that couldve have been handled WAY more professional and less discriminating. The only reason I felt like he was being very "Racist" is because there was a lady 2 tables behind us with 2 cups of Starbucks and chips on the table. It's obviously looks like no one came to tell her NOTHING. I'm sure she would not be rudely approached in the way that we were. We decided to leave this place bc we felt we were not treated fairly and should not have been yelled at continously by someone who is supposed to be the higher position. The manager tried to tell us that the starbucks cup was empty c'mon theres a stopper inside the cup and it wouldnt be on the table if it was empty. Then one of the staff was rude when I was returning my skates, he told me "Um we are kind of busy can you move along" when I'm not kidding you I JUST got my shoes back, and a friend is turning in their shoes. The older lady, who was very sweet, kept apologizing to us however the manager kept saying that's not how that happened, well sorry 5 adults and 4 kids just witnessed all this and we all confirmed his nasty attitude and discriminatory demeanor. She even added in "Well from an Asian to an Asian I'm so sorry"...umm. ok is that suppose to clear that you made a horrible guy the Manager of your business. This ALL happened in less than 10 minutes btw, he gave us NO time to do anything. The whole place is dingy anyways. I do not recommend it for that price and customer service. The skates were old, and smelly too. Before I end this let me go ahead and warn you guys do not bring in food/drinks if you're Asian, bc it seems like it's ok for some ppl. read more

I visited skate country yesterday with my daughter. We're regulator skaters but live south of Atlanta so we've never had the chance to make it here. I've seen this place on Facebook and it looked really nice, I've been wanting to get here for a while and was finally able to. I'm glad that I did, the experience here was excellent. The facility is easy to get to, plenty of parking, and a very nice exterior. Once you enter it's just amazing. The facility is beautiful, it is impeccably clean and well lit. The wooden skate floor is so smooth and very grippy. The snack bar is huge and well stocked, they have many options that other rinks simply do not. Food prices are very reasonable and the quality of the food was great. The staff was extremely polite and professional. The only complaint that I could make is that the floor is a little hectic. There was a floor guard but he didn't do much to help, lots of kids on skate trainers going all over the place, kids going the wrong way around the rink, and just generally cutting across the floor erratically. Other than that this was an A+ experience and super Saturday is an excellent value, being able to skate from noon to 10pm for just $10 is unheard of. Will absolutely be back. read more

Clean facility, skates looked like in good shape. (Kids skated, not me.) Well lit, at least the day we were there. Loud as most of them are. Clean dining area. Whole thing seemed newer / fresher than the ones closer to my home. Heads up...Super strict about checking for outside food or even water(!!) at payment time! They were making people leave their water bottles outside in the lobby. I saw what was happening and brought mine in by putting it in my carryall "mom bag." read more

Came for a 80s themed birthday party . I was literally one of the only authentically dressed persons . Besides not being judged on actual effort and appearance of the era , the skates sucked and the pizza is plastic . They really should invest in some skates- the breaks on them Are horrible ,!!!!and probably best when you have a contest if you aren't going to actually judge based on what you say just don't waste people's time ! I was literally like twilight zone walking out of an 80s . anyway I'd never come back ! The skates are a good way to crack a skull , thankfully I didn't fall but I could see it being really hard to skate using such low quality skates. They are too worn out and need to be replaced badly! The food is the worst, just upgrade food and get new skates it's time ! read more

What you see is what you get. A skating rink that was designed a few decades ago. Price is right. Always seemed decently clean and doesn't reek of smoke. They do fundraisers for local schools. Went to a birthday party there yesterday. I felt it was ok. The bald guy definitely is as stand offish as everyone says. We didn't interact with him much. They allowed the family to add names at the door and to add any concession item to their bill. That's a cool point especially for kids who want everything. It was a busy night so I made sure I washed my kids and I hands, sanitized in the car and showered at home. No C19 happening here. But yes back to the review. The music selection was nice. The nachos were good minus the stale chips. Pizza looked frozen I didn't try it. My kids have an after school gathering in a few weeks there idk if we're gonna go back. read more

We have been going to Skate Country for many years. It all started for me back in high school many years ago, at one of their other locations that recently closed. It was always a great place to hang out with friends, as well as meeting new friends. Through the years visits were not as frequent but still a great place to skate and enjoy time with friends. Now we take our kid and it has became a place that she enjoys, it's a great family friendly activity. Their are not many places anymore that you can go that does not cost a lot as a family, Skate Country is still one of those places. It's clean, family friendly, inexpensive, and good exercise at the same time. read more

We came her for our friend's daughter's birthday. The place was really old looking but overall clean. I personally don't think they had enough of those skate training thing for small children because there was a waiting list and there were a lot of kids there. One of my favorite places as a little kid now just a run down place. I went a few weeks ago and everything was very unkept and the service wasn't friendly. Even the cafeteria is not up to date. Decided to go for Labor Day to enjoy some fun on the day off but they are closed Sunday evening and all of Labor Day.... What a terrible business decision. Had two parties here- everything was alright- but second time our son wanted an Ice Cream cake. Against the rules, which my wife did not realize. So I get it, rules are rules. Had a great skating experience. The staff is very attentive and keeps good order in the place.

I just wanted to get my kids out of the house and out of the heat for some indoor fun. Instead, I just wasted my money. Safety is the least of their concerns... Don't even bother coming here during summer. There are 4 daycares here, which mean a hundred or so kids, who CAN'T SKATE. Half of the kids out there have those pvc pipe things that they try to skate with. I say "trying" because pretty much everyone is just falling down. They don't know how to get out of the way. They don't know how to stand up. So, when they fall, they sit or lay there, then try to scoot across the whole rink on their butt, all while dragging their "skate mates" with them. They "skate" so slow they nearly get run over. There are kids skating the wrong way and sideways/cutting across the whole rink when they want off. The entire edge of the rink is lined with kids sitting, making it difficult to exit the rink without stepping on them or tripping while manuvering around them. Its actually dangerous! And the only people the employees speak to are the ones who actually CAN skate when they trip over all of the obstacles in their path. Skate country: Get rid of those DANGEROUS skate mates. And actually enforce the rule that every other skating rink in the world has...if you can't skate or are a slow skater, stay in the checkerboard part in the middle of the rink. Enforce ANY rule, for that matter! You seem to care more about taking these daycares' money and letting them do whatever they want than you do about safety. read more

This was the absolute WORST skating experience in my 20 years of skating!!! It's obvious they don't want black people here! From the door the person who took my money was extremely rude. As soon as I stepped onto the middle of the floor to practice my spins and footwork, the floor guard immediately approached me and told me the middle was just for beginners. I then moved to the outside and two floor guards approached me to tell me I wasn't skating fast enough and that I couldn't do spins and stationary footwork on the outside of the floor as I was impeding traffic. I said there are other people skating slow on the outside and fast through the middle, he said they're not blocking traffic. I ignored them and skated off. Then a manager came out and two floor guards came and surrounded me and told me this obviously wasn't the correct place for me to skate and that I should just leave. I asked for my money back and they refused. I felt to disrespected, unwanted, and humiliated as they caused a huge scene. I would warn ALL PEOPLE OF COLOR not to go to this skating rink. Don't give that racist rink and racist owner Chris any of our money. On my way out, 1 other of the total 5 black people that were there, came up to me and said they do this to all of the black people that come here. I asked why she still came, she said it's the only rink in the area. So sad that this is still the racist south it's always been! read more

Most bizarre experience and total lack of customer service. Several people standing in line at concessions stand and no one behind the counter. Manager (older white bald man) comes out from the back and asks if anyone needs help. When told yes he rudely said "well she'll be back in a minute." What was the point? Why offer help if you weren't going to actually help? Were you just taking a poll? You should have just stayed in the back and everyone would have continued to wait anyway. So bizarre that I ended up getting out of line without buying anything. The girl at the front desk and the guy working the prize counter were both nice and helpful. Those two are the only reason this isn't a one star review. The guy giving out skates was indifferent. Half of the arcade games were broken or didn't have tickets in them. I have always had so much fun here, especially on Thursdays it is never really all that busy. The manager is kind of rude though. Me and my friend were picking out stuff from the prizes and we were laughing and having a good time trying to pick and he walks over and begins to get obviously annoyed. VERY POOR STAFF. this staff member was YELLING at kids for a simple accident (he accidentally touched her with a balloon) and yes she has the right to be upset i guess...but instead she threw a fit and called the POLICE. a child was banned tonight because of a simple peace of rubber touched her. I was invited by a neighbor to go skating with her girls last Thursday night. The hours are listed as 6:30-8:30pm, but inside, it was posted that it would be open until 9pm. The admission is really cheap, only $4 including skates. If you want speed skates, it's an additional $2. I've seen bigger rinks but this one would suffice. I think it was just entirely too packed. We arrived at 6:30 and there were already 50-60 people in line so the wait was a little long. I have to remember that skating is really for kids, so I can't complain about it being full of them. However, I noticed that they had plenty of those 'skating assist' roller things for the smaller kids that don't know how to skate (that resemble elderly walkers on wheels), which come for a small fee. On a side note, kids have it so easy these days. We didn't get a pass when we grew up...we learned the hard way. There's a concession stand with affordable snacks (pizza, popcorn, hotdogs, etc) but the little boy behind the counter couldn't count very well. There's also a vending machine with candy for $1.25. Overall the night went smoothly. They don't play a lot of urban music, but it wasn't that type of crowd so I understand. I'd say I heard maybe 4 rap songs total. Plus, a majority of these kids were under 10. The highlight of the night? When the DJ accidentally played the unedited version of Cardi B's Bodak Yellow. I think I heard a whole 16 bars. I've never seen people run so fast back to a dj booth. I just sat back and watched like Sealy watched Mister (in the kitchen) in the Color Purple. That was HILARIOUS. Amazing place to go been going for year now taking my kids their great staff great rink kids love it

We have been coming here for years as a family but today will definitely be the last time. If you want to come to a skate rink where an old, bald man acts as a bouncer and they have a harassing referee on skates blowing a sharp whistle in your ears then come here. I called to confirm I could bring a birthday cake for my daughters birthday. I was told if I was coming for a birthday party I could. NEVER ONCE in the conversation was it mentioned we had to "pay and book" a birthday party to bring it in. Once I arrived with the cake in my hand the bald gentleman acting like a bouncer at an exclusive night club told me I couldn't bring it in. I told him I spoke to someone and he said "no you didnt". Don't accuse me of being a liar!! Once I came to get my cake from being held hostage to take back to my car the bald man blatantly tried to pull the cake out of my hands to walk me over to the schedule to try and prove me to me I didn't speak to anyone. I told him we would never be back and he yelled after me "maybe you should leave now". My mother in law had to leave her water bottle to then pay to get in and then pay for water. 2 of the 3 "complimentary" water fountains didn't work. Super friendly and helpful staff. Took my college age kids there tonight and they loved it. Very clean and well lit. Had a great time!
