I really believe that this place doesn't like its customers. My child loves skating so we come here maybe once a year because of this place's setup. You'll walk in and a worker would see you standing there with zero acknowledgment. It's the same with the snack bar. The music played catered to one or two people instead of the entire crowd. One of the most frustrating birthday party experiences I've had. We booked a birthday party at Skateland East and spent a substantial amount of money on the kids. This wasn't a case of people trying to avoid buying food or drinks from the venue. The adults in our group stopped for coffee on the way because several of us have dietary restrictions and don't consume the sugary drinks typically found at concession stands. Before bringing the coffees inside, someone in our party specifically asked an employee if it would be okay, and we were told it wasn't a problem since we had booked a party and were spending money there. The birthday cake was also accepted by the staff and placed in their refrigerator. Then the shift changed. A manager came over and completely reversed everything we had already been told. Suddenly the coffees weren't allowed, and we were informed we couldn't have the birthday cake unless we spent an additional $60. The issue wasn't the money... it was the complete lack of consistency and the dismissive, confrontational attitude. A simple conversation or an acknowledgment that another employee had approved it would have gone a long way. Instead, the interaction felt like a power trip rather than an attempt to provide good customer service. The rest of the experience only reinforced that impression. The entire facility feels stuck decades in the past. The concession stand is cash only. The arcade games are coin operated. Even the lockers require cash. This isn't about being cheap--it's about convenience. In 2026, most families don't carry cash or rolls of quarters to a birthday party. If processing fees are the concern, build them into the prices or offer a discounted cash price. Requiring cash for nearly everything is simply outdated. To make matters worse, the concession stand offers virtually no diet or sugar-free beverage options while strictly enforcing a no outside food or drink policy. If guests aren't allowed to bring in alternatives, there should at least be reasonable options available for people with dietary restrictions. The rink also only offers traditional roller skates. If you were hoping to rollerblade, that isn't an option. One of the strangest aspects of the facility is the restroom layout. The sinks are located outside the restroom area and around the corner from the toilets. I watched numerous children leave the restroom and head straight back to skating without washing their hands because the sinks weren't part of the natural exit path. It's an odd design that doesn't encourage basic hygiene. The "No Outside Food or Drinks" policy is also posted behind heavily tinted glass near the entrance, making it easy to overlook. What should have been a fun birthday celebration turned into an experience we'll remember for all the wrong reasons. Because of the way this situation was handled, not because of the cost, our family of seven and our friends' family of six have decided we won't be returning. We'll also be sharing our experiences through our own reviews. Losing thirteen customers... and the birthday parties, concessions, and future visits that come with them... over an avoidable customer service interaction is unfortunate, but that's the decision the manager's attitude ultimately led us to make. read more

Entrance is cash or card, but the snack bar is cash only. They do have an ATM on-site. The music is fun and varied. They have tables for birthdays and groups. There are lockers for rent-$0.50‐2 quarters only. There is not a lot of seating on the sides to rest or watch. The rink is spacious, clean, and they keep the temp cool. The staff were friendly. The skates are in decent condition-some more worn than others, but still serviceable. They do reverse skating direction occasionally, which my legs appreciate! They have good parking. The place is a bit tired/run down. The business was full of customers despite its first appearance. Cash only place as far as food/snacks go. The food and drinks look avg such as nacho and water. For a weekend trip, it's okay to try. The hour of operation changes daily so check the website before making a trip. You can bring your own skates. The rental skates hurt my feet and are very broken in. They had a DJ playing various songs from oldies to current tunes. The area to skate is of average size with a small section off to the side for those who don't skate. The bathrooms are more for children and to wash hands the sinks are on the outside of the restrooms around the corner, with no drying option. My son attended a birthday party there and has been asking to go back. It was something to experience. There is another skatepark across town I may try instead. read more

They have everyone must come off the floor for birthday party skate except for the party attendees for 1-2 songs. Then they have a "glow skate" where if you don't have a glow stick or glow items you can't skate where they play 3-5 songs for just them. But they do sell them at the counter for $5 per glow item. At this point we have been here for 30 mins and my kids have been able to skate less than 5 of the 30 mins. $3 for a water bottle and nearly all the other drinks (no refills) & food is $4-6. To top it off it's cash only for all snacks/drinks. Restrooms are decorated for younger children. Only two stalls in the restrooms and there are no sinks physically located in the restrooms. But they do have some located outside and around the corner from the restroom with no place to dry them. Not military friendly. read more

Brought my child and four friends to skate today. Even though I am purchasing food and drinks we are not allowed to bring in a birthday cake since we didn't purchase a party package though we spent $60 to get in and more on food and drinks. The real cake of today's visit is when the manager Dixie came over the young employee working the D.J. booth and proceeded to yell and scream at him for stopping the skate due to a disabled patron needing to get to the center of the rink safely from what I and others saw and witnessed. No matter the reason there is no reason to yell at or call an employee names AT ALL whether in public or private! How this woman is a MANAGER IS BEYOND me! When I asked for the highest managers or owners name and info to submit a complaint she said she is this highest and I asked if she owned the company she stated no but it's family owned so what's the problem in which I brought up how she was treating her employees in public and even in private that's not ok. Which she just smirked and said yes I raised my voice and I go no you were yelling and belittling him and called him names. She then proceeds to say well my family owns the place you can't get me fired...I'm not trying to get you fired I'm trying to get you to understand how you treat people is not ok and it needs to be addressed. They stopped the music and turned up the lights to announce their many rules. Obviously everyone brought in drinks from QT, Starbucks, tumblers and many other drinks from outside but yet the manager told us we couldn't and demanded we take our drinks outside and leave them. My family and I came this location to enjoy each other's company and have a good time . But instead we were harassed and bother about "rules" no one else seemed to be following. If you are a person of Color I suggest you find another rink . The checks at the door will detour any POC skater from coming here. This is the worst one in town. The employees are EXTREMELY rude to people of color and even the rules posted are clearly to keep "certain" people away . I was flagged down in the rink for accidentally wearing a hat while a YT customer was able to buy, rent skates , AND SKATE with a LARGER POCKET KNIFE displayed on his hip. When I asked the owners about the safety and rules I was told they will ASK him to take it off. The music selection is from 2008 and no headphones are allowed. This is a classic skating rink. My daughter has been begging me to go roller skating so over Spring Break we stopped in. I'm glad we did. We had a lot of fun skating and listening to the music. I didn't like the 10 minutes spent for others to play red light/ green light with so many new skaters, but others seemed to enjoy it. The place cost $14 per person if you bring your own skates or not. It was not too crowded. My daughter had a lot of fun until her butt started to hurt from falling so much. I wish they had skate mates, but they do not. It was clean for a skating rink. The floor was a little rough, but we still had fun. I've been going here for about 2-3 years and I'm going to be very honest. I have no problem letting you all know the tea about this place. Let's list some pros and cons. For my pro skaters, this is one of the BEST floors to skate on. Pros: -Great floor -Old music, it'll range from 80's-2018 (The recent music is more likely to come on the last thirty minutes depending on who is DJ) -They just installed a new carpet Cons: -EVERYTHING IS OVERPRICED -The bathrooms don't have sinks in there, the sink is OUTSIDE of it -They intentionally make it hot so you buy drinks ----------------- If your not a "pro" skater please be aware that on weekends and holidays there will be people who actually know how to skate, there. It's best you stay away from them. And keep your damn kids in check. Because they keep coming next to us and then we get a "talking to" because YOU weren't watching your kids. More often than not we try to avoid the little ones in the best way we can. And to be perfectly honest, I am a mother so don't be making no types of excuses. Blah blah blah. The employees aren't rude, maybe if you didn't approach them with your bad attitude then it wouldn't be matched. The amount of times I have heard about customers being assholes for NO reason, THEY ARE JUST DOING THEIR JOB. Wouldn't you be annoyed if people weren't following the rules in your establishment? And imma be honest, they can get super strict- but if they're going over the rules it's probably because of the damn children. I'm talking 12 and under. Gracie is racist, wether she admits to it or not- and that is the owner. The manager there, Krysta isn't racist and is there most days. It really depends on who is in the front, that will determine on how you're treated if you're a POC. So let's just clarify the staff doesn't give af if you're a POC, unless it's the owner. Okay a little tip for those of you who don't know how to skate or who are just now learning. Or for parents who are bringing their children to learn: Whoever is on DJ, when they announce a backwards skate, they will assist and teach your child in the best way they can to go backwards. Also, DO NOT CARRY YOUR CHILDREN ON THE SKATE FLOOR. It's extremely dangerous. It's best to try and get your kiddo off the wall because they won't learn there, rather try and get them to waddle like a penguin and push out. Also, if they are learning get them into the red circle. That is what the red circle is for: learning. Most times "pro" skaters will be there to teach eachother tricks or practice but it's very unlikely they will hit your kid. I would suggest going to the circle, or the rim of the rink. If I forget something, I'll write another review, but this is what I've got so far- anyways if you actually read all this, Thank you! This no class so called skating rink is a JOKE! They still charge you full admission even if you bring your OWN skates! The "ALL MICROWAVABLE FOOD" snack bar only takes cash!.... what establishment in this day in age doesn't take CC's??? Shoes are thrown all over the carpet floor. There's about a 3ft section of a so called "Pro Shop" which has no skates or wheels for sale! Witnessed an employee take skates that a customer just used and used a spray bottle to spritz the OUTSIDE of the skates!NO INTERIOR DISINFECTING WHATSOEVER!!! Now I'm all for a retro/vintage vibe for a skating rink but this place looks like a mismatched garage sale find! Not cute at all! The carpet alone needs a serious steam cleaning! THE MUSIC SUCKS!! I really wish management would read these reviews. I have been going here for 15+ years and it's slowly gone downhill. If you want this rink to be successful please listen to your customers Lower the price on your snack bar food. Update your music playlist and take reasonable requests from your skaters. Either lower your entry prices or extend the sessions. Have a variety of rentals available, blades, speed skates. Don't be so uptight, it's a skating rink... people are their to have fun and be active. No one needs to be yelling over the PA system about the rules every 5 minutes. Anyways, the floor is decent (for San Antonio), but this place seriously needs an update and to care more about their customers. I don't even know how to start this but I don't recommend coming here at all especially for beginners that are skating my 19 year old brother was skating in the middle like they tell you if you a beginning and then "a so called worker" was jumping over "other workers" and then The worker that was jumping over those other people was going fast in the middle where the beginners are supposed to be and my brother was trying to go forward and that " worker " was wearing a hoodie which you're not supposed to wear and was going fast in the middle and bumped into my brother and hit his leg and my brothers ankle/leg twisted all the way back and broke his ankle and my brother couldn't even get up but the so-called worker that did that to him did not even check if he was OK or say sorry he literally just kept on going and the lady named Kristen that's working that whole thing and this boy in a red shirt that had blonde or bleached hair was standing there when they told everyone to get off the skating ring and he was not at work because he wasn't in uniform at all and was telling my brother that it was his fault and working him up and telling him that he needs to calm down because he was basically being too much but if that was him it would have been way different like he wasn't thinking about how he felt at all like what do you expect if you broke your ankle and someone's telling you that it's your fault and a bunch of other stuff and calling you out your name and the lady named Kristen was just standing there letting the not worker say stuff to my brother and I honestly don't think this is right at all and then the lady named Kristen was believing other people that were not right in front of him like I was the one right in Front of him she was believing that he was the one trying to jump over people because that's what she said other people were telling her after I pacifically told her what happened not only that my other sister told her and my brothers girlfriend and then they didn't even call 911 I had to sit there and call 911 and when I was on the phone with EMS they were making a loud loud announcement and I couldn't hear and as soon as the police officer got there I told him to tell them to stop making that announcement because I couldn't hear and they just like didn't even care at all and altogether it was just a worse experiment and some work needs to be done to the manager or whatever that girl is because they let people that are non-workers go into the music booth into the back and the non-worker was just standing there telling my brother stuff and he wasn't even a worker i'm putting this out here to let everyone know so my brother can get his justice! read more

This is my second time here and surely my last. The lady at the front door is really rude and needs some customer service training. The food is really overpriced and the food is all microwaved. The seating area needs the carpet clean i believe because it has a strange odor. Restrooms have no locks and doors are cut way to high you can see through the bottom not good. Of course the skates were pretty old and used but I would think that's to be expected. We didn't have to pay since it was a party so I don't know the prices but reviews state $15 per person even if you take your own skates. Music was good, staff was friendly and interacted with the kids. I'm assuming experiences are different because we attended a party and weren't there with general public use. I like this place, but the manager makes me feel sorry for every employee that works there. I watched an employee look out for the safety of the customers, then call the manager and get guidance. The manager started yelling at him and while she was walking away, I clearly heard her tell the employee to "stop acting like a child." First of all, if the employee was in the wrong at anytime, as a manager, you should NEVER belittle a person like that. If your employee is so bad, so disrespectful that it warrants you to act the same way, they should be fired. Managers should effectively manage and creating a hostile, negative environment for employees and for patrons to witness is not the way to do that. I overheard her tell another lady who obviously witnessed the event as well, and she said "you can't get me fired sweetie." And "no, there's no place for you to complain, except with me. A few weeks ago we experienced a death in the family. My young nephew asked to be left alone as he was trying to deal with what had happened. When he emerged from his room, he asked if he could go skating. Skateland East, being the closest rink, was open that day, on a Monday afternoon. Because it was near closing time, I called to ask the price of admission and I spoke with Dixie. Not only was Dixie kind and helpful over the phone, she charged us 2-for-1 on entry because we only had an less than an hour before closing. What I think is important to share, amidst all of the other reviews, is that Dixie stayed open later as we watched this little boy skate around as fast as he could. I can only imagine he is still trying to wrap his mind around this terrible loss but what I am certain of is that today we are going back to Skateland East soon! I for one absolutely loved being able to skate to Ice, Ice Baby at 42 years...brought back so many fond memories. read more

The place is pretty good to skate at even though it cost 15 that is for every hour you can be there which makes since cause I stay for about 8 hours here and even though the snack bar is cash only you can get cash from the front as long as you have a card and they have amazing birthday parties that get pizza and drinks and throw a celebration for the birthday kids with the party even if you don't have skates and they can dance to a song. read more

I consider myself a connoisseur of skating rinks and this one is top notch. Growing up as a "rink rat", this place brought back tons of memories. Decorated in the once tacky neon colors of the 80's, this place has tons of upgrades. Everything from the carpet floors to the snack bar is brand spanking new. With temperatures outside in the 100's this is the perfect place to take the kids to cool down during the summer. Daily schedule changes so check their site. But for just $8 we had a great time. It was ok. My three main gripes are that it was a very pleasant day outside and inside was hot. I'm not sure if they had the AC low or off, but I was drenched by the time we were done and it felt so much better outside. My second gripe is that if you want to buy yourself some skates, or already have your own...you still pay $12 to skate! You can go ice-skating for $12 with your own skates, and the building is much nicer, and cold, and they have a way higher cost ceiling. There is also an arcade. The price if you have skates should be $8-9. My third gripe, if you have never been, is that every little while they tell everyone to get off the skating floor unless you have a glow-stick, which is just asinine. Of course they sell glow-sticks, the cheapest being $3. I could deal with the other two gripes if the AC would just work properly. read more

This skating rink definitely leaves something to be desired. The center of the rink is designated only for tricks and backward skating so all of the beginner skaters end up hugging the wall. There is no "light" during the blackout skate so if you have little ones beware because you have the older ones aspiring super fast in pitch black. The person at the register told us to have a seat at the reserved table and then 20 minutes later came and asked us to move because she had the table marked reserved for a party (huh? You told us to sit here.) The menu is extremely limited. The only snacks they had for kids who don't eat pepperoni was nachos. The only plus side is that the kids got to skate. read more
