This is our second time coming to the establishment and it was terrible. There was lil girl who snatched my mother-in-law cupcake while the lil girl was skating. The lil girl mother tried to get bold with my mother-in-law. When my husband tried to speak with the people in charge they gave the excuse of the lil girl being autistic and so it was okay. Nothing about this was okay! Keith said to my husband that lady had been coming there for a while and talks to people who work there like that all the time. You can not let people treat other people like that regardless if they come there a lot. Got kicked out for sharing a stall while we saw others doing as well for balance and because it was a packed place with only 3 stalls. They don't have any signs that say you can't do that and they only had an issue because you could see me using my hands to stable myself on the bathroom door. I brought my kids here over the summer and we had so much fun. Upbeat music and nice rink. Negatives - it got really crowded around the game area and was hard to move through to get food or go to the bathroom. There were a bunch of non-working video game consoles that they could remove to make more space. Large parking area. Prices are a little steep but if you skate the whole time, it wasn't too bad. For how relatively cheap and unique this place is, it deserves nothing less than a 4/5. In total for two people to get in and rent skates, it was about 24 bucks. Plenty of seating and fun to be had. I think the people who rated it poorly are most upset at their own ineptitude to skate well and feel inadequate to the other patrons who frequent here regularly. The employees were all super friendly and we had a blast. I guess I'll only give it a 4 because I thought the music selection could use an upgrade. It was ok but there were several skaters riding around with headphones listening to their own music. Other than that, you should absolutely go! This is a well run, clean (yes, actually CLEAN) roller rink. We went there recently and they had just put in new carpeting the day before. I actually sat on roller-rink carpet and didn't stick!!! (If you remember roller-rinks from your youth, they typically smelled like a beautiful blend of cotton candy and feet). The admission price was fair at $6.00, the skate rental price fair at $1.00 for old-school 4-wheeled skates and $3.00 for in-line skates, the "locker" (coat and shoe-check) fair at $.59, the facility clean and the staff VERY friendly and helpful. I had my disabled son with me who can't skate and one of the staff members actually brought him a glow stick on the house for the "glow skate" so he could have a way to take part. The temperature was comfortable considering the large number of kids skating in a circle like a tween-whirlpool. The rules of the place are enforced (which as a parent I appreciate) giving a friendly, peaceful and most of all SAFE environment for all ages of kid (and adult for that matter). The games and vending machines all operational (causing a vast quarter-drain to me due to my daughter "needing" to purchase stick-on mustaches... but I will save that for a later therapy session). The food was cheap (hot dogs, pizza-oven pizzas, fountain soda, cotton candy and some other candy treats) and was typical roller-rink fare. (If you are from Skateville and reading this, you might consider a couple of more up-scale items for parents... IE a nice coffee from one of those brew by the cup machines, maybe a mixed fruit cup and maybe a couple more upscale snacks. You will make more because you can actually charge more for them - parents will pay for these nicer options. Just something to think about). The previous being said, obviously one doesn't go to the roller-rink for a 5 course meal. The snack bar is well balanced for kids and teens. They have a little trinket/gift shop/small kid toy counter that sells blinky and glow items as well as all the other little goofy bracelets, slinky style things and other doodads that kids like. This is where you will be hit up by your kids for a blinky pacifier or a glow stick for the "glow skate". Don't worry, the stuff here is cheap. The music was age-appropriate KDWB-esque / Radio Disney-esque music with no foul words or severely sexual/violent messages or profanity. I appreciated that (and think back to skating to 2 live crew when I was a kid skating in Milwaukee). They also played some of the old school "hokey-pokey", "happy birthday" and "chicken dance" music. During the skating session, they had a few games they played with prizes (mainly a free pop from the concession stand) and some features (backwards skate, glow skate, etc). All in all, this was a good value for an entire evening of family entertainment in a clean, safe and kid/teen-friendly environment run by a crew of responsible and friendly adults who sincerely seemed to care about their jobs and our kids. (Memo before you go, do know that there will likely be a TON of birthday parties... So, if you will not be skating with the kids, come early to get in line prior to the session starting so that you can claim a table or bench space to sit while your kids circle 87945703058934089 times around the floor). read more

SCUMMY! My son won the jackpot on a game and the tickets didn't come out. He went to the front and asked for help and the employee totally blew him off. I was standing off in the distance watching. I walked with my son over there and watched the guy fix the machine. At this point I thought my 11 yr old son was good to go and the guy was going to give him the tickets he earned so I walked back to check on my other kids. Well, saw my son at the front again and the guy did not give him the tickets he earned and continued to blow him off. The tickets were substantial but really, you don't get much but that's not the point. My son witnessed a person cheating him out of something he earned and had no care in the world on what he was doing. Doesn't surprise me he was a middle aged man working at such a low class place. We took our almost 5 year olds skating today and the best part of the experience was the staff. It was a little more expensive once we paid for entry, skate rents, skate-mates and locker. But hey, I knew the price and wanted the kids to try it out. My biggest complain is the skate rental. The rollerblades on my left foot where digging into my ankle bone so bad I had to keep loosening the skate so it didn't hurt but then it was to big to even skate. The skate padding is nonexistent and worn down. Eventually I went and got a new left rollerblade and that fixed the ankle bone issue. My husband had the same ankle bone issue but it was on his right rollerblade. The rollerblades need their wheels rotated, (if not even thrown away and new ones put on) the buckles didn't work on one of my skates either. It was just a hassle and wasted a lot of time. Also, there is NO air conditioning. So skip the summer skating or you are going to be sweating and pitting out of your shirt before you can even get functioning rental skates. We will go again (in the winter) with our own skates (that I will find in my basement from 15 years ago) but we will not be rushing back. read more

I literally called the owner and reported black globs of sticky stuff on their floor and how hot it was in there and they informed me that they clean their floors all the time and they use a fan to blow the hot air outside. They do not have air conditioning and they sweep the floors and he's in denial of the black gooey sticky spots on the floor. All you have to do is check out the rental skates and the black crap is all over the wheels of the skates that are outdated for rental.. All the owner could say is that the rink wasn't a good fit for me and he didn't care that I was giving him feedback for the safety of the people skating. I came there for a gathering with my friends and family and my friend got her wheel, caught on one of those pieces of black goo on the floor, fell and fractured her femur and her hip and is now having trauma surgery. All the owner Jason cared about is telling me Not to skate there. It's not a good fit for me and he didn't even know why I was calling, while my friend is in having hip surgery. All he cared about was being right or being sarcastic when I warned him several days before that of our experience coming there to check out the roller rink and this was my first experience there with my friend getting hurt, and my sister-in-law falling and getting hurt and we are not new skaters. Jason, the owner, told me I told you not to come here, wow! I definitely don't recommend because they really just don't care about the people. They care more about being right and being rude except for a couple kind staff members that tended to my friend until the ambulance got there. read more

I picked this place only due to the location but after my experience I wish I would have went Wooddale Fun Zone instead even if it's a further drive. The place was chaotic, unorganized, and the staff was rude. $3 extra for inline skate rental is ridiculous, the skates were old and uncomfortable. You have to supply your own plates, forks, knives and candles for the cake also decorations and tablecloths. All they do is reserve 2 tables for a booked party. And you don't get a staff member assigned to your party to help with questions/concerns. If you need assistance, you have to maneuver your way to the prize counter to speak to a staff member, which is ridiculous. read more

Fun for the younger crowds. If you plan on coming during a weekend make sure you like children because the place is filled to the brim with little muchkins skating around you and running with hot dogs in their hands. Also the hourly announcements for the birthday child to come to the front of the building to be put into a cash machine. The place really needs a update I feel like traveling back into the 80's-90's stepping inside. They do play top40 music but the decor really does a buzz kill. The staff are always willing to help and it seems like a family owns the location and all help each other out and try to make it as much fun as possible. Be sure to look out for groupons to get a cheaper deal or ask about birthday packages to save money on larger groups. We had an okay experience at Skateville. I grew up roller skating and was really looking forward to taking my girls and their friends. Overall we enjoyed the skating experience, but I felt nickel-and-dimed and the woman (owner?) running admissions was rude. We were using a Groupon which included admission, 4-wheel skates, a hot dog & beverage. No one else was waiting, but the woman at admissions gave me grief about the Groupon and then was impatient when we were deciding between 4-wheel and in-line skates. While the Groupon included 4-wheel rentals, they charge you the full amount to opt for in-line. That's $3 more per person. I had 6 kids with me! My daughter wanted to use a PVC-bar to aid her on the rink. Normally these are simply available for use at ice rinks, but at Skateville they charge $5 and document who checked it out. When I think beverage, a fairly large cup with a lid comes to mind. At Skateville, it's more like a Dixie cup. And, the hot dog wasn't much to look at either. The girls did enjoy the music and skating and the establishment is clean.Go with your eyes wide open to spend a lot more than you expected. Based on the way we were treated, I would try some place else before going back to Skateville. read more

Skateville is an original, literally. It's a bit wild inside: the carpeting, etc. But, they have good music / DJ, theme nights, and skating games. They have video games and concessions too. The rental skates are decent 4-wheelers for a reasonable fare. I've went on several occasions and they staff is amazing at setting up a grand time for all ages! Not a very good experience for a number of reasons. First, the skates are in very poor condition. The music is pretty boring. I was there with my 7 and 9 year old, so I appreciate that they keep it clean and family friendly. But still...we were there for an hour before there was a song either my kids or I even recognized. Some more current music would be nice. The rules against very fast skating are definitely not enforced. We're not avid skaters, but have been skating enough times to have a basis for comparison. Every place has some who are very good and "hot dogging" around. But the degree of trick and very fast skating they allow here is unsafe in a mixed ability environment. A minor thing, but still bothersome, is that they don't have self serve lockers--you check your things like a coat check. So if you bring a purse, you need to leave it attended by staff. I'll assume they're all honest, but one never knows. I'd just much prefer to have self serve lockers. The drinking fountain didn't work, forcing us to buy beverages. Awful smells. The main area smelled so strongly of cleaner it made me nauseous. The bathrooms had some sort of funk I can't even describe. If it were just me being picky, then I'd accept that it's just me. But my kids didn't enjoy themselves either. Only time we've ever been roller skating where they actually asked to leave long before it was over. Just all around not a fun experience. It was a horrible experience. I just left about an hour ago. I had a little fun on the floor but there is a sign that says "no fast or careless skating". That sign sign clearly means nothing. So many kids zooming by being selfish of other people around them. The employees did a very poor job telling people about themselves. I had a six yr old and a 8 yr old with me they didn't really get a chance to skate with all the zoomers skating bye and in between ppl. I have seen multiple people bump into others and knock people over and just continue skating like it's nothing. I had to get go backwards a little to help my 6 yr old sister catch up and not fall for the third time because people keep trampling over her, a guy that worked there told me to go the other way. Clearly talking to the wrong people. It is also very hot in this place. They charge people so much but cant out in air conditioning. Not to mention all the employees working at the counters are very rude. I have weird feet and had to keep getting different sizes I've seen the guys there rolling their eyes multiple times and they look high as-well. Maybe look into hiring nicer and more understanding employees. My stepsister left her phone inside and had to go back inside to get it. The lady at the front desk started yelling at us. Great idea for a birthday party! I was at Skateville for a birthday party today and had a wonderful time. The staff was friendly and responsive. The mom of the birthday kids rented theses "walker on wheels" for the kids to get acclimated to skating. Whoever thought of that was genius! They didn't have those when I was a kid. I was pleasantly surprised of the quality of skates, none seemed to be overly worn or have tattered laces and trust me I was looking. The guy behind the prize counter was very patient and looked genuinely happy to be working.The whole place was authentic roller rink and nostalgic exactly what you'd expect and how you'd remember from your childhood. Worst birthday experience ever on 4/6/2013. Started out good, then as we're nearing the end of the night we find out that services were misrepresented by the old lady running the party. I was then called a thief, in front of my kids, when I refused to be upcharged, and the rink referee/manager decided getting in my face, acting all tough, as I'm trying to round up my nine kids to leave the place was a good idea.
