Hands down, the best doctor for folks with special needs…read more I've read some of the negative reviews down below, and it seems they're just mad that they had to wait, and that things went fairly routine for their appointments. They're correct, Dr. Nayfack has a long waiting list. For good reason, he's actually great at his job. My son was diagnosed, referred to him, and Dr Nayfack has been a warm, and welcome voice, both with prescribing meds and advice, that has helped my son succeed in countering his behaviors. I'll not undersell it either. My child can be difficult. He's got autism, and some days we win, some days autism wins. But if you're looking for an honest doctor, that can help you figure out what's correct for your child, give you good advice and referrals and actually care about your child's health, sanity and their place in the world, then Dr Nayfack is the best choice in the valley. I can't recommend him enough. As long as you're willing to deal with the initial waiting list, and willing to jump through the hoops in the early evaluation, you'll have, what essentially boils down to a secret weapon from the medical field: A doctor, whose care and effort, seems to run on an eternal battery.

My experience with him was not good at all. It took us a long (about an hour) waiting to be seen…read more My 3 years old was very tried by the time he showed up. He was on the other hand very unfriendly and reading questions like a machine. Of course my little one couldn't make a connection. So the doctor stopped talking to the kid and he said it's ok I got what I want! Then he gave me diagnose that he is strongly sees my kid has autism!! It's not easy to hear that, I started to cry and he said any questions? and then he left! Just like that ! The whole process took him 45 minutes to give me diagnosis! We are trying another doctor from UCSF and they are great! Even with the pandemic situation they spend and are spending hours and hours just to give us the right answer. At the end I'm honestly very disappointed by the way he made (Or not!) a connection to the child and scared them away.

Our child was a late talker, so we did our research and found East Bay Child Development Center…read more(formerly PLTA). From intake to our final class, the staff made sure that the scheduling process was a breeze, and that visits did not fall short of expectations. They have an excellent staff dedicated to your child's development, and the office is pristine. Not just clean; very well kept. I noticed that there wasn't one tear on a book or broken toys. They put lots of effort into upkeep, knowing well that toys and books can take a beating with younger kids. East Bay Child Development Center has terrific speech therapists and therapists specialized in helping in all other types of child development, including but not limited to physical therapy, etc. We went through 2 different speech therapists and 1 or 2 therapy students which was a little harder for our son to grow accustomed to because it would take him awhile to warm up (which I've learned isn't unusual for any development therapy center), but each therapist tried their absolute best to ensure they were giving him the utmost care and attention.

That speech is not a good fit for him, that his sister runs around the hallways exploring toys and opened doors of offices, about me get a phone call so they discharged him from services. This is racism and discrimination by the way ladies I want to give you suggestions, your office needs a new administration, organisation and functionality. Everybody there seems to go everywhere, I don't know if these people work here are they clients. The back door to the outside was open, this is called dysfunctional. The office receptionist was like his first day to work, confused and looked around like a lost boy. There four people by office were speaking loud and chatting. They failed my son years ago when he was younger because they said he was not ready for speech when I just changed my insurance to get accepted to come here. Now he's 12 years old saying he's not a good fit. Shame on you to say that to me. You can't discharge him that's illegal. My son is trying with his speech and he has rights in California to receive speech therapy any age. Discrimination by the ability, then age, what's next because his sister running around the office and also I was on the phone? For that lady who spoke with me today over the phone couldn't wait on me. And making me feel like I was being fired from the job, she sounded rude and said my daughter was running around the room and I was speaking loud on the phone so the excuse to fail my son. Then changed her words saying he's not a good fit and he runs fast and wants to push the kids. She needs to find more excuses for her to dismiss him. You don't know how hard and challenging to be a mother of autistic kid. I finally thought I have him his speech going and then you locked me up like shutting my mouth. Go see if your speech therapist is the one who has the problem. She too lazy to give speech therapy or has a lack of skills. This is Shameless and discrimination.

Although we only worked with Shamim for three months our child made tremendous progress with her help. We only stopped working with her because we moved out of state. If we could continue services with her, we absolutely would. Shamim is wonderful with kids. It is evident that she has years of experience working with children of all ages and variety of concerns as well as with parents. Her approach is warm, caring, supportive, playful, knowledgeable, creative, and engaging. She was flexible with her treatment approach and met our child where he was at. Our child always looked forward to their sessions. She is also great at managing behavioral regulation and provided some practical techniques to us as parents. In addition, Shamim is wonderful working with parents. We appreciated her willingness to consider realistic recommendations on how to help our child and practice speech/language at home given our busy schedules. She kept us informed with his progress. Even after we moved, she checked in with us and she helped us find resources in our area. I truly believe that working with Shamim was integral to the improvement and further speech and language development of child and has been very beneficial with his progress socially and academically.

What sets Shamim apart is not only her 30 years of experience and deep knowledge of the field, but also the remarkable care and passion she brings to her work. She has so many tools in her toolbox and always knew how to tailor each session to meet my son where he was. We're so grateful for the foundation she helped build. Highly recommend!
