We paid a pretty penny for that initial assessment and not able to get a copy of that report which is odd. Seems like they're backed up and you pretty much have to keep nagging them to get things moving. Not sure what their internal system looks like. I just received an email from the coordinator on my availability a couple months back and that was it. I thought I was the only one going through this but spoke with another mom and same deal with her. If you are also in much need of speech therapy, do not wait for these folks! Unless you're guaranteed scheduled times after the assessment.

Billing is a nightmare…read more My husband came here for several months for back pain. I went twice for pregnancy related piriformis pain. The physical therapists we saw were great. The problem lies in their billing practices and difficulty paying your bills. My husband never received billing statements after the visits and he tried contacting the billing department multiple times to get a statement so he could pay. Eventually, we received paper statements in the mail with a link to pay online. Entering statement ID # or account # from the statement on the website led to dead ends (no account found). We tried looking up accounts by our demographics etc and nothing came up. When we tried calling the billing department phone # listed to get the "correct" statement ID in order to make a payment, the tele reps were absolutely useless. It took my husband at least 4 phone calls, receiving different statement ID #s each time, none of which worked when we tried to pay online. We were told after other phone calls that they would mail us the statements with corrected information--which we never received. Eventually he was able to get the correct statement ID #s and pay for the visits by calling for what seemed like the millionth time. Months later, he received paper statements trying to charge him $2300 for two visits (our specialist copay is $50 per visit) that he had already paid for. We called billing again and were told the bills would be put "on hold." A year later, he received more paper statements in the mail for those same already paid visits, again for $2300. I'm still dealing with trying to pay for my visits, and just received notice that I was sent to a debt collector for two visit copays, a balance of $100. Just... don't even bother with this place.

Then I scheduled my follow up with the same doctor for a video call (which lasted less than 5 minutes) to review my results. The initial visit was OK. I did the study at home. The follow up call was of no value. I paid for the initial visit and the follow up video call. Then... the surprise... I was bill an additional $1,398 ($699 x 2) for two "Outpatient Care" services from a doctor that I never met! I think this is genuinely unethical. I called and asked if it was a mistake. Someone in billing credited one of the two "Outpatient" charges. I shared that I had no intention of paying for either of them. I find this to be a truly unprofessional business practice.

Stacy seemed irritated and distracted for almost all of the visits. I left most of the visits filled with fear that my newborn was not meeting its milestones because of what Stacy said or meant indirectly when my LO was not able to perform a skill. She was impatient enough to always leave the appointment after 20 mins, when my LO was tired. Even on repeatedly asking her to measure the asymmetry, Stacy would procrastinate it and say "next time". It looked like all Stacy was looking for was more future visits so she could get more money from us and the insurance. The last visit with us, she left us feeling flabbergasted after mentioning helmet and that my 5 mo failing to meet its milestones. I switched over to Mills PT in San Mateo and they cleared us after the second visit itself.

When she aged out of her last therapy at age 10, I found Sena at Development Is Child's Play in Burlingame. DICP works with children of all ages and all abilities. They have swings, climbing walls, zip lines, and all different kinds of equipment for taller, heavier kids (as well plenty of equipment for littler ones too). When we joined DICP, Sena did a thorough evaluation of my daughter and found that many of her initial baby reflexes were never integrated into system. Other therapists, especially our school-based OT, focus mostly on penmanship and do not address the fundamental building blocks that make it possible for children to write neatly and perform other fine motor skills. Working on my daughter's core strength, initial reflexes, sensory integration, and motor planning challenges, has finally allowed her to make progress with her writing and other school-based concerns. Sena has been instrumental in helping us with my daughter's toileting troubles both at night time and during the day. Sena is helping her to listen to her body better and response to what her body is telling her. Sena is the first therapist to really address my daughter's core needs and develop a specialized program tailored to my daughter. My daughter is making so much progress thanks to Sena. Sena always listens with her kind ears to my daughter's (and my) concerns, giving advice and offering support in many areas of our lives. She is thoughtful, knowledgeable, gentle, and kind. My daughter loves going to OT at DICP. She loves it, not only for Sena, and not only for the swings and zip lines and obstacle courses, but especially for Roomba, DICP's loving therapy dog. I was not happy with the way I was showing up for my child and desperately wanted to meet with a professional who could teach me tips and techniques to better manage my son's behavior. We were referred to Seesaw (and some other professionals). After speaking to a few, I felt that the fit was much better with Seesaw and Dr. Sabrina, who was very down-to-earth and easy to speak with. The philosophy behind Seesaw also resonated with me more, as it is really focused on kids of all ages with a varying range of services to accomplish whatever objective you have as a parent. We had an intake meeting, a regular virtual session, and then an in-person session where I brought our son to meet Dr. Sabrina. Dr. Sabrina walked us through some helpful strategies on how to respond when our son was acting up. Before and after each of our sessions, she would send over additional reading resources as a supplement. The first book she recommended "The Incredible Years" has actually been very helpful in helping to reframe our mindset as parents. We have already seen some success in our son is behaving and while we know there is still a long journey ahead of us, we feel much better prepared now to go down this road. After a couple of sessions, we felt like we had enough to work with as we were already starting to revisit the same themes and concepts but at least now I know that there is a resource to go to for any ad hoc behavior situations that arise in the future.
