My brother and I have been going to the Skills Learning Center to receive tutoring for 5 years now, and it has really made a huge impact on our math skills. Mr. Bob is a great teacher who really knows how to make learning fun, and can explain difficult and new concepts without any problem. Because of this, I have skipped two grades in my math class and am one of the top students. The tutoring really enabled me to get a huge jump on math, and I was soon far beyond the level of what they were teaching me in school, and so my parents made the decision for me to skip. I have seen others struggling with the material we covered in school, but I never had that problem as I had learned all the necessary skills already from the tutoring. I highly recommend the Skills Learning Center to go beyond what is being taught at school, but in a fun way that your kids will definitely enjoy. I could not be happier that I found this school for my 3 kids- all currently age 4 and under. This place is amazing! =) The teachers are the BEST- there's pretty much NO turnover. 2 of the 4 teachers own the school and live next door to it. Married couple, Lyndsay and Bob, are both incredible educators. Kids are at ASTOUNDING levels of math and reading at age 3! (Previously at other pre-schools my daughter had 4 different teachers in one year - this would never be the case at skills learning center.) What I also LOVE about this school- that I did not find in the other two pre-schools my daughter was at before I found this one- is that it's small and personable. You'll NEVER be speaking to a receptionist who has no idea who your kid is or which class they're in or teacher they have. They have 2 classrooms (adorable school houses) and 4 teachers and no more than 30 kids. My daughter receives a lot of one-on-one attention. They have an amazing backyard for the kids to play in. They open up their home for several events year round, where they invite the entire family. Pot luck when school begins, Christmas performance where Santa comes and brings gifts to all kids (even siblings!), campout in their backyard (they set up a huge movie projector outside) during the summer, Mother's Day brunch, Father's Day brunch. I would ENTHUSIASTICALLY recommend this school to any friend or parent- just so HAPPY I found it for my kids. If you want an okay/good/decent Montessori, this is not it. If you want THE GREATEST educational opportunity for your child ages 3-6, CALL. THEM. NOW. Lyndsay and Bob are not only my child's educators, but life leaders teaching her lessons that she will carry throughout her life. These two world-renowned teachers, I am proud to say, are now considered family. My daughter graduates to "big girl" school this fall and we will continue to receive their tutoring until she sails away to college. My five-year old is performing 3rd grade math and can read like the wind. Thanks to who? That's right. Lyndsay and Bob Ferris. I get choked up even writing this, because this school has made that massive of an impact on our daughter's life, how she views the world, her respect for others, and how well-rounded she has become. Skills Learning Center is a great montessori school. In addition to being a montessori, it is also an excellent tutoring place. Miss Lyndsay and Bob are just awesome. My son went from home care to Skills , now he has graduated and just started Kindergarten. He LOVES Skills. he loves Mr.Bob and really enjoys playing math games with him. Both Miss Lyndsay and Mr.Bob have this unique ability to get the point across to your kids. The kids enjoy learning there and its not boring or a chore. Kids are also taught to be responsible and think out of the box. Miss Lyndsay and Mr.Bob really put effort in all the activities at the school. For younger kids, they also have a provision to rest. The backyard is like a playground with so many activities to do. Also, their house is right there so my kid was always safe. I was never charged a late fee if I was on the road stuck in traffic. My son was never scared or sad that I came 5 mins later. Overall the environment is positive and geared towards learning. It is a wonderful school. My 5 year old son began preschool at Skills when he was 3 years old. He was a shy, timid child who was bright intellectually but had struggled socially. Its been 2 years that he has attended and in those 2 years he has blossomed in every way possible....a kid who would hide behind my back is now standing on front of the entire class every tuesdays for sharing! He went in knowing his alphabets and numbers to now reading and doing math at a 3rd grade level! My husband and I interviewed many preschools and we are so grateful we found Skills. He will be going to summer camp there and then starting kindergarten at EBS but we will continue his studies at Skills with tutoring. The school may not look like other fancy schools but its what goes on inside the school that matters. This is a top notch school and I encourage every parent to look into Skills learning center. We had our child at Skills Learning Center from the ages of three to five, and highly recommend it. There are multiple elements, from life skills and Montessori-type activities, as they master these they are moved to a more academic environment in preparation for 'big' school. I expect that the fundamentals they learn here will prepare them well for future education. The school is great, a fun, caring and intimate environment - the kids tend to do very well both academically and socially, and ours was no exception, reading small books and able to tackle second and third grade math problems all before kindergarten. On the social side, lots of friendships are formed (for both the kids AND the grownups), and there are multiple activities throughout the year that involve the parents also. Summer school is available, and brings a slightly different curriculum with a new theme each week and supervised pool time at the end of each day. read more

Skills Learning Center is a excellent way to challenge your kids to excel! Our boys have always been good at math but weren't very challenged in school when they were younger. So we started them with Bob many years ago and they loved it! He makes math fun while challenging them with advanced topics, letting them go as far and fast as they can. This helped them to build an even stronger foundation in math resulting in both being in the top of their math classes in middle and high school. More recently we started our youngest with Lyndsay to help ensure he was reading well as a kindergartener. It was amazing to watch as he went from slowly sounding out words to reading sentences with her in a few months. If you're looking the perfect school, look no further. This is it!!! They offer the best education with developmentally appropriate curriculum. The environment is safe, clean, and the kids absolutely love the teachers. They are encouraging, kind, and more than qualified as they offer numerous learning objectives for all ages at your child's own pace. The individual attention and guidance each child receives really puts this Montessori above the rest. We are sad as our son graduates to kindergarten this year but we are so incredibly grateful to Bob, Lyndsay and fabulous staff for helping to groom our toddler into a boy who will be well ahead of his peers in the fall. This is an excellent school. I sent all my three kids to this school and all have done very well in academics, social as well as cultural fronts. Mr Bob and Ms Lyndsey are very loving and passionate about working with the kids and it shows in the results. They focus on both academic as well as sensorial techniques and best of all the kids have a blast there. They have a lot of educational activities and my son loves playing/learning with it, I literally have to drag him out sometimes in the evening. LOL I would definitely recommend this school with no doubts at all. This would definetely be a strong base for your kid. read more

My 2 boys have been Seeing Mr. Bob for Math for several years. They just love him and keep asking to go back. They love the way Mr. Bob explains the Math and Chemistry so they just get it. He has moved both my boys several grades above grade level. They feel confident about their Math skills and say its their favorite subject. This is an incredible place. The teachers are wonderful. Both my kids went there for math tutoring during elementary and middle school years and received excellent instruction.
