I had a very disappointing experience with the customer service at Skin Laundry Uptown--mainly due to Allison, the front desk lead. Her behavior was extremely rude and unprofessional. Initially, she comes across as sweet and welcoming--but that completely changes once you sign up for their mandatory 4-month contract ($150/month). After that, the attitude and service noticeably decline. I've visited the Uptown location three times: * The first two visits, I had to wait 10-15 minutes for what's supposed to be a quick 15-minute facial. * On my third visit, I was only 6 minutes late (due to a medical emergency), and Allison pushed my appointment all the way to 1:30 PM. This felt very unfair, especially considering how long I had been made to wait during previous visits. Overall, the treatments at this location are just okay--not worth the money, especially given the poor customer service. On the other hand, I highly recommend Skin Laundry Montrose. The team there is much more professional, and the overall experience is far better. You can genuinely see results and feel valued as a customer. If you're considering Skin Laundry and are ready to commit to their 4-month plan, I would strongly suggest choosing the Montrose location in Houston instead. read more

I tried the initial laser facial special for $59 which is a very light one size fits all. It actually did eliminate some of my under eye darkness, bravo! I had no redness or anything after. The procedure is performed by a licensed aesthetician. There's about 30 mins of intake your 1st visit: online forms, pictures, an instructional video, approval for treatment based on your info from a remote doctor. While it turns out it is a subscription/monthly club type of establishment, there was zero pressure for me to join. They also have their own product line, of which I liked the gentle cleansing wipes so much I did purchase some. It's in Uptown Park, so parking likely fluctuates depending upon typical busy times. The staff - super friendly; the subscription runs about $200/250 and allows 3-4 treatments/month. If you want that many treatments, it's a steal! For me, that's a little much monthly and would I actually do that many treatments...? ‍ I would definitely recommend checking it out for yourself. read more

Disappointed with Service and Misleading Charges I booked a $50 laser facial that was advertised as a 15-minute consultation and 15-minute treatment. Upon arrival, completing forms and photos. I was asked to wait for their staff crystal who was not there despite they reschedule my time to come 15 min later The actual treatment lasted barely 5 minutes -- no products, no mask, just a quick laser pass with constant talking. I saw no visible results, not even minor improvements. At checkout, I was repeatedly pressured to buy a membership starting at $150 plus a $25 registration fee. Additionally, the tip screen showed a misleading 18% tip of $22 instead of about $9. I left feeling disappointed and overcharged. Not worth the money or time -- be cautious with these promotions. read more

I have had bad luck with SL from the start. I booked a Power Duo for my first appt at Uptown and they called me at the last minute to cancel. When I pressed to get more information on the type of laser and they told me it was a YAG. Once I got in for my appointment I was told it was a "diode" laser. I never actually got a consult but was told I would get better results if I did the signature treatments every 10 days vs doing the power duo. So I made my next appt to get the signature and it went fine but I was told that I should do the power duo for my skin. My esthetician was almost 20 minutes late because she was eating and the front office didn't let her know I was there. She then recommended that I get an IPL if I wanted quicker results. The lack of transparency and professionalism alone is not worth the monthly cost. Save your money and get a better treatment. Update: i did ask the technician to laser over my microblading on a few occasions. Most of the time they would do it but one time the tech refused and said it was against protocol. I never expected one and done results with SL, which is why I wanted to try the monthly treatments to achieve my goals. I just don't think I was a good fit and no one communicated that to me read more

Respect clients time and honor appointment times and service that was booked. Also misrepresented treatment time. My appointment was at 2pm. I was not taken to room until 2:14. Technician started to give a laser facial when I booked resurfacing. Technician had to leave the room and get the machine for the resurfacing facial which took time away from my service. My service was rushed and not a 15 minute facial. To top it off the technician was in sales mode during my service which was not relaxing as she was selling future treatments. Lastly, no where in my booking or confirmation was it mentioned they do not take cash. Extremely poor experience. read more

Terrible and unsafe experience at Skin Laundry Houston. My daughter and I signed up for their $400/month membership, based on promises made during the consultation -- 15- minute sessions and proper, safe treatment protocols. What we actually got was rushed sessions under 7 minutes, and worse, no gel was applied during the laser treatment. We were specifically told that the gel is used to protect the skin during the procedure -- but they skipped it without informing us or asking for consent. This caused visible skin damage for both of us. When we brought it up, even their own provider and manager (Allison) admitted fault. We were told our membership would be canceled due to the issue, but they still charged us after that. When we asked for a refund, they said their system "doesn't allow it" and told us to dispute it with our credit card company -- and then they had the audacity to deny the dispute. This business is reckless, dishonest, and completely unprofessional. They put our skin at risk, charged us after admitting their mistake, and took zero responsibility. Avoid this place at all costs. read more

I've gone to Skin Laundry for about a month, now. I've really enjoyed my time there. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and prompt. I've gotten two Signature facials and a Resurfacing facial. After the Signature Facial, my skin felt clean and tight. I got my Resurfacing Facial yesterday, so it's a little soon to speak. According to the esthetician, I shouldn't really see results for about a month. On your first visit, they do consult a dermatologist for your treatment plan. But when you go in, you see nurses or estheticians. They determine which monthly plan (commitment of 4 months) you should sign up for based on your treatment plan. That way, you're not paying for more or less than what you need. Overall, I really enjoy my time there and I am excited to see results! read more

I had an appt booked and it was canceled less than an hour before due to a tech no show (I was on my way in when I got the text cancellatio). I tried to call to find out when I could reschedule at a time when someone would actually be there. Things happen, I get it. I drove to SL try to rebook in person later in the week as emails and calls went unanswered. I was greeted by the person at the front "We only have one person working all week and you will have to wait to get in." She wouldn't even look up at me. Busy texting. Maybe more last minute txt cancellations to handle? Lol. It was all just such a mess and waste of time. I would not suggest even trying with this place. Oh and right after I got the cancellation I received a text "We saw you canceled your appt...would you like to rebook?" Warning to anyone that simply can't afford to lose time. Seems like a fly by night operation after my experience. Cheap facials sound great...if you can actually get someone to show up for you. Ha. Makes sense after writing that last sentence. Had a wonderful experience yesterday at Skin Laundry. This was my first visit with them and wasn't sure what to expect. Everyone there was very friendly and professional. They explained the entire process and made sure I was a good candidate to receive treatment. They answered all questions I had. The laser facial was relaxing and not painful. There were no reminders sent that schedule will be cancelled if you are late for less than 10min. I traveled almost an hour and paid someone to take care of my child to baby sit just to get to my appointment. I was only late 7min and yet they didn't want to do mine. It's not being unfair but its valuing your customer. Your other customers won't wait an hour if they do me becuase the appointment is only 15min. But, if you only consider me driving an hour to get there means valuing your customers time and effort to get to your business location. That's why I refused to re-schedule because I don't want to patronize business who does not value their customer. read more

My esthetician, Crystal was great, I had lots of questions about the laser and she didn't over sell and was truly honest, which I love. The front desk woman was so nice and informative she knows so much, she is incredibly kind and informative. I did not elect to sign up for the membership, I do not like to get locked in, however I did book another appt for a more powerful laser for my dark spots.
