Helped myself to some refreshing cucumber water while I patiently waited for my masseuse to set up the room. Swedish massage was painful at first (I'm frail), but she was kind enough to- for lack of a better word- weaken the massage to my liking. Ambience was peaceful and soothing, as it should be. My friend bought me a groupon for my birthday and I decided to use it just he other day. I had a premier facial, with clarisonic treatment, and eye treatment. I absolutely loved the girl who did my facial! Everything about the facial was great including the upper body massage. She was gentle, walked me through it because I've never been there before, helped me with products, and helped me with my future skin regimen. i can tell you after my facial, just a few days later my skin is brighter, i have less red spots, no breakouts, and it feels great. Visited my bff here in Austin in late March and this place had a groupon for a facial so I bought it. For my first ever facial, it was a good experience. The gal, Stacy that worked on me was very helpful, sweet and did a great job. She was very patient answering all my questions and was very gentle on a couple of extractions she had to do on my face. The ambience was tranquil, dark and relaxing. The chair I sat in was so comfy that I think I may have dozed of near the end. lol If I do go back, will definitely come here again and ask for Stacy. I often see Alex, who knows my skin very well, and could even tell that I was pregnant before I told her. This establishment is always very clean and inviting. My job changes my schedule frequently and the staff is more than accommodating in rescheduling my appointments. Was in Texas earlier this year for several weeks as I used to be a fan of Facelogic (well I liked the idea and that they are all over) But my facial was so so. Now they are shutting down all over the country (TX, OR, IL, GA) and leaving people without any refunds - some of whom paid months in advance and had credits for many facials! They took down their main facebook page. The woman who started it owns massage envy or started the business. I'd be worried the rest will go bankrupt too. read more

The owner is difficult to deal with, if you ever get to deal with her. I have been a member along with a friend for several years when it used to be part of the Facelogic franchise, now Skin Zen Spa. On and off there had been some challenging issues. Keeping regular staff in the past always seemed to be a big one. Originally my friend and I started going since we wanted to do something fun together once a month. Then we could never get an appointment together with anyone experienced, so we started going on our own. I received a birthday certificate that read half price any service. I scheduled an appointment & mentioned the certificate. I went into my service & came out then was told I had to pay an extra $4.50 since I had to pay 'current' member pricing. I am a current member & was not told this when I scheduled the service or when I was going into the service that I had to pay more. I understand it's only $4.50, but it's my $4.50 (well, it was) and the owner would prefer to lose my business rather than do the right thing. Needless to say I will no longer be a member over this in addition to her raising the monthly membership an additional $10 per month with less than a 60 day notice. I wanted to speak with the owner and was told she was unreachable & does not have a schedule of office hours. I would not recommend this establishment to anyone. read more

Was looking forward to a facial and massage, arrived and was not greeted warmly. Got my facial(which ended early) their chairs are very relaxing! The facial was a 9/10 I was very happy. Looked forward to my massage which was next. Waited for my massage therapist and when she arrived she got the paperwork from me and never once asked what I wanted to focus on. During the massage my chin kept hitting a bar on the head rest and was very uncomfortable. The lady who massaged me kept moving the table left and right with me on it and it was very distracting when I'm trying to relax and getting moved around! Her pressure was ok. It really felt half a**. When she got to my shoulders it did not feel okay at all. This was the area I cared most about and she put no effort into it! After excusing my self to "use the restroom" I got dressed and walked to the front. The receptionist never once asked me what was wrong! Asked to speak with the manager she said she was the manager. I was only 25 min into the massage which was 70 min! I asked her why she didn't ask why I'm ending it early, With a sarcastic tone she said "oh what's wrong" I laughed thinking are you kidding me?? This experience was horrible! They did not care at all that I was upset! I would not recommend this place at all!! read more

I have been getting my brows done here for a year or two now. The esthetician I originally went to was great, but she is no longer there. After she left, it took me awhile to find someone I was happy with. I had a few different estheticians do my brows that I really wasn't happy with, but finally I called Skin Zen, explained my needs, and they matched me with Elysia. She is great! She listens to me, takes her time, and frequently checks in. I finally signed up for the facial membership with Skin Zen which is super reasonable, and I love my facials with Elysia. They are sooo relexing and I really do notice the difference in my skin. I will be moving out of state soon, but I feel like I'm going to need to stop by Skin Zen when I come to town. It might take awhile to find a good match at Skin Zen, but there are definitely some great estheticians. read more

I just had a facial yesterday in Skin Zen Spa, and not happy with that. First thing, they switched my esthetician without notified me, and this is not first time they did this to me. At least they should notify their customer, and let the customer to choose another one. I am not a new customer, and I have been with them for several years. I loved this place, this is the reason I have been with them for years. But things changed recently, I still not able to make my appointment for December yet, because the schedule is not open for one particular esthetician I like to book with. Second, my facial time was not used wisely. About half of time my face was "idle". Supposedly she should put one mask to my face, and then do something else, like arm massage. I have had many facials there, I knew how the process works. I can't even tell she did a mask to me, only exfoliation. And my forehead is still hurt today, too deep I think. Third, I have a premier facial that is 75 minutes long, but my facial last only 70 minutes or shorter. I never had this experience before. This personal is not trained well. read more

Thanks to a Groupon I decided on some much needed pampering. If you're seeking a wide varity of fairly inexpensive (with coupon) services and product lines Skin Zen is a good choice. If you're looking more for relaxation there are better choices. The place is small and the layout very odd. The facial area looks like a bunch of office cubicles lined up, with the open area facing front. Try to remember that you look fabulous with that fruit puree on your face as others are walking by three feet away. The up side? Those chairs! I want one! Part dentist office visit without the pain, part space shuttle ride. Jackie suggested a Blueberry Bliss treatment with a firmness booster from the Premier line which was heavenly. She did an overhaul on extractions yet I didn't look like I had measles when I left. The session ended with a nice scalp massage. went there this morning for my first time..i got the essential facial and eye brow tint. i had a groupon which is what brought me in..everything was great! the facial was amazing. the arms, neck, shoulder, scalp massages in between were an awesome bonus! the blonde lady who did everything was really nice and helpful..i dont know her name though..my eye brows turned out looking good too. i normally dont do these kinds of things so wasnt sure if the price was high or normal but after comparing online, it seems that they give you a good deal! Pros: cheaper than most, friendly staff, clean Cons:There were partitions, not rooms so while laying with my eyes closed, I felt like passers by were stopping to stare at my exposed blemished skin.lol I think I saw some darkened rooms but they weren't offered to me so I don't know if they were for VIP or what. I wanted the Essential Facial but was talked into upgrading at the last minute, which I later came to regret. I should have asked to see the Menu so that I knew what I was getting.I got the "Premier" Cucumber Facial which was basically me laying under a steamer with a lady rubbing cucumber lotion on my face and upper body for an hour. This didn't even include exfoliation. I was told it included Clarisonic which I assumed was some type of exfoliation, apparently it was a tingling serum that did nothing. I had better results coming home and exfoliating and hydrating my face myself. While the staff and facility was nice,this experience was nothing special. read more

Outstanding! Abby was absolutely wonderful. The anti gravity chair was oh so nice. The warm towels and gentle massage of detox treatments on my face was so relaxing. I am so grateful to Skin Zen for many reasons. First and foremost, hiring Amy. I had been going to Skin Zen off and on for years without joining the membership, that is until Amy did my facial. The care she took the first time without really knowing my needs convinced me to sign up for a membership. And it just got better from there. As each month's facial came, she got to know me and the stressful life I lead at the moment. She keyed in on that and I felt she took extra care to make the facial more relaxing as it is my one monthly escape from the world I live in. About 2 months ago, I decided to add a massage as it was my birthday month and though the lady was great, massages cause me pain and that are not relaxing to me and decided I could not do this again. So, last month Amy suggested reflexology because she knew what I was trying to accomplish, more relax and escape time in the chair. Well, I had my time with Amy today and I cannot say enough great things about her. I have gone to Skin Zen several times to get hour and half deep tissue massages. Every time I have been pleased. The front desk is always managed by a super sweet young lady and though not a super luxury setting, which to me is neither here nor there....what you really hope to get is treated nicely upon arrival and check out, have a very clean and comfortable setting and of course a great massage. I have been going to get facials here on a monthly basis for about 5 years. The owner, Vanessa, is very in tune to her customers and appreciates any feed back. I love this place. They have the very comfortable chairs that lean back and make the facials so nice. Other places I have been use the massage tables and it hurts my back to lay in one position so long. I have enjoyed massages there also. I recently added Foot Reflexology to my monthly facial. WOW try it!! Someday I expect somebody to have to wake me up.
