First experience ever with the place and it was pretty off. Confirmed for an appointment for services. I changed my schedule to accommodate the appointment. I received a called a couple of hours before the appointment. The had somehow had a 'booking' error, and scheduled me incorrectly. Their counter offer was to re-book several days later. I had a wax service yesterday and received excellent treatment. The staff was most friendly. The establishment was clean and didn't smell like any particular scent - just clean. My wax technician Alex was awesome! She handled my first time like the professional that she is! I asked her a bunch of questions and she didn't make me feel stupid for not knowing or annoying for asking. I immediately booked a second session. I didn't have any skin care sessions; but, I did book a deep tissue massage to try them out. Before booking the massage, I asked detailed questions about the therapists, their knowledge and training, and if they handled injuries, "computer syndrome (arms/neck)" and the like. I was impressed that the front desk girl didn't tell me all the therapists were great and would do fine as I expected to hear. She told me they just hired a few and, they're all licensed; but, there are a few who have 10+ years experience and she recommended them for my needs. That was important and I give mad props for the honesty! I would overall recommend them at least to try before committing to a membership. I will try a facial as well before committing to the dual membership (skin and massage) at the very least. I'm hopeful the massage is boss because I will commit to the membership at that point. I can't give a five star review for two reasons: I haven't tried all services offered. Also, their treatment "rooms" are only separated by dividers. i've been going to skin zen since 2020. and i love it. the customer service is great, and when i had a billing issue, the owner called me and sorted it out personally and i felt valued as a member. i've been a premium member and every penny is worth it. it's. a great deal and i don't feel like im over spending. it is great quality and i feel i don't need to spend twice as much at another high end facial place. skin zen is high end, classy and luxurious and my skin has never been better in my mid thirties. read more

I wanted a facial before my wedding and saw the Skin Zen Spa on Groupon. Usually all the places on Groupon have poor or no reviews, so when I saw four stars I decided to go for it! I was NOT disappointed. Emily did my detox facial and she is super sweet and my skin felt soft afterwards. The facial was really relaxing and she gave a scalp, back, and arm massage as well that was the perfect amount of pressure! She gave me a couple samples for treatments and masques which was nice. The extractions weren't too bad, and I will def go back! If the two pack for facials is available on Groupon, I would get that! read more

Horrible customer service! Based on my past experiences at the spa, I never imagined I would write a bad review. I know sometimes people do make mistakes and it's no big deal. But I cannot even fathom the behavior of the staff at the spa today. They were extremely rude and declined to accept their mistake and accommodate a simple request. I am a long time customer of the spa. I do not live in Austin, so I always book an appointment in advance for my preferred esthetician at the spa, and I and drive 1.5 hours for the appointment. Today, my preferred esthetician was not working. But no one from the spa called me to tell about it. Not knowing that, I drove all the way to Austin only to find it out at the time of my appointment. The lady at the front desk said another equally good esthetician would fulfill my appointment. Even though I felt bad about not being informed, I thought let's get it over with. However, once inside, the new esthetician had no idea what products my regular esthetician was using. She showed me a rack full of beauty products and asked me which ones I was using before. How would I know what my regular esthetician was using? I have sensitive skin and I come here because my esthetician knew what was good for me. Then, I found out that the steamer was not working. When I asked how they are going to complete the service without it, they said the steamer is not needed at all. At this point, I wasn't sure what other surprises lay ahead. So I went to the front desk to complain about these things. The lady at the front desk became very defensive and did not want to do anything about it. I politely asked if I could talk to the manager. She refused to let me talk to the manager saying that she was not supposed to share the manager's information with the customers. If customers cannot talk to the manager, then who else should they talk to? Anyway, I stood my ground and finally she grudgingly relented and called the manager. Finally, I thought I was seeing some light at the end of the tunnel. Little did I realize what it was. The manager Vanessa adamantly said that informing customers about any changes to their appointments was not their "policy" and that they just reassign the customers to whoever was working that day! Also, I was told that the spa is not there to serve according to the customers' lifestyles. She went on and on about how they were offering all these services for a low price and other things, when "price" was not even the reason I was complaining about. All this, just for asking to be informed ahead of my appointment, asking about an inexperienced esthetician they assigned in place of my preferred one and asking about non-working equipment. Wow, it was a nightmare this morning, a complete waste of time. As long as I did not have to deal with the staff other than my preferred esthetician, I was impressed. Not anymore! read more

Felt totally screwed by Skin Zen. I purchased a voucher for $60 worth of services. I chose a 90 minute massage. When I arrived I handed the receptionist my voucher but she told me to hold onto it. The masseuse came & lead me back & reminded me to pick up my voucher. The massage was very good however my 90 minute massage lasted approximately 70 minutes. When I asked why the lady informed me that her next client was here and that I was four minutes late. In addition the 90 minutes includes changing clothes & their review of my information. I returned to the receptionist to pay the additional charge above my $60 voucher plus provide a tip. I was informed that they would not accept my Groupon voucher. This should have been told to me when I made my appointment, or when I arrived... Any time before I had the massage. This was the first voucher I had ever purchased for Skin Zen and my first massage at Skin Zen. However, on the anniversary of my husband's passing back in Jan 2011 my daughter-in-law paid for a facial for me... thought it would be good for me to start the day with a relaxing facial. The reason I was told my Groupon Voucher was unacceptable was because I had a facial there nearly two years prior so was not considered a new client for the massage. This is BS as I did not pay for the facial (except tip) and I was a new client for their massages - plus should have been told prior to the massage rather than be forced (and I do mean forced by their joint intimidation) to pay Full Price. read more

Sticking to exactly what the stars mean I am leaving at 2 stars due to it's definition "Meh. I've experienced better" as that is right on target. This place isn't horrible but it's also no where near great. It is just okay. Groupon ($62 for facial/massage) accidently clicked twice as it wasn't doing anything, and low and behold I was charged twice. So I figure well I'll just go twice. Nope. They have "rules" for this. "first-time" customers only. WTF?? So it has to be a "gift". So I gift it out. Set up appointments and since they HAVE to be used together I had to schedule them at the same time. The scheduling this place has stinks. The only thing they had was like a month out. No choice but to take it. My friend had something come up and needed to reschedule. Well....too bad...with Groupon if you don't use it at the same time you just contributed to the un-earned revenue of this place and you now forfeit your time, energy, and your purchase price/money. I thought Wal-mart's business practices were shady...ha! This place came to me again via Morgan's Deals. It was cheaper and I felt bad that my friend lost the one I bought so I buy t again. When I call it's EARLY April and the first available appointment they have together is mid-May. Again....WTFFFKKKK? I won't purchase from this place again no matter how cheap it is. If repeat business is the goal then treat your potential customers a little better Skin Zen. Once I redeem this deal I will not go back. While I was not happy about giving them $62 for nothing in return I was pleased with the service I received overall. The massage was great (Anita) and very relaxing and was indeed a FULL massage. The facial was okay but the lady who did my facial failed miserably at service. It was my 1st time there mind you. So she comes to get me from the waiting room. She's pleasant enough. She asks me have I ever been there. I say no, this is my 1st time. So she walks me back to the back and stops at a little alcove with no further directions or info. I assume this is the dressing area but good lord, didn't I just tell you I've never been here before? Some info would have been nice. This is xxxx, please do xxx.. would have been nice other than just leaving me there. That aside, the facial was nice enough, nothing fancy, just a plain jane facial. The massage was HEAVEN though, and I am a picky massage subject. So, on to my 2nd visit via Morgans deals. ($29 for massage - not bad) so I go in for my massage. Come to find out the girl attended the same massage school I did and was a recent graduate (w/i the last year anyway) this was by far the least enjoyable massage I think I have ever had! I was breaking out from the summer heat a few months ago and it was starting to bother me and made me feel really self-conscious as my usual routine was not helping at all. I decided that I needed to get a facial before thinking about going to the expensive dermatologist. Making an appointment was easy, yet there seemed to be some confusion about the names of some of the services. No big deal, but maybe the website needs to be updated. I managed to get booked with what the receptionist said was their best esthetician there, so that immediately made me feel at ease. When I got there the esthetician asked me about what my concerns were, and I didn't feel self-conscious at all. She was very friendly and really listened to me. She explained my choices in the product line and I chose the one that was made out of real fruit, since I wanted to go the more natural route. She also took the time to learn what products I was using as well. This was my first time having a facial, so I appreciate that she gave me instructions on how to prepare and what was going to happen. The chairs are really comfortable. I felt at ease right away, which is definitely saying something, since I'm usually tense and easily ticklish. I felt very relaxed and was so sad it was over! Afterwards, the esthetician gave me a glass of water and showed me some products she would recommend without being pushy at all. She also gave me a recommendation on what I can do at home (take zinc and b12 vitamins). Which I really liked! I bought them right after and I have seen that the vitamins have improved my skin. I am now regaining more control over my breakouts for the past 3 months now. When I came home, I could see that my skin just looked less congested from the extractions. The next few days after that, I could see my skin healing, and there were other areas that broke out a little, but they healed very fast. I still have some old scarring that I just cover up with mineral powder now, but will be interested in going back for more and trying their other services. I was really tempted to do the monthly facial membership deals they have, but I'm not sure if I can go every month. It would be nice to be able to get a deal on three facials or something, and be able to redeem them anytime I want in the year. Overall great experience. read more

I wanted to give them more stars, but have had enough issues to say, "A-OK" is as high as I can go. I have had three massages at Skin Zen and loved two out of three. Bo and Anita are fabulous masseuses, Debi was my other masseuse and she talked the whole massage through, and not about the massage! I'll go back with Bo or Anita, but never anyone else. They are affordable and you can buy a set of three at a time for a discounted price. Other than that service, I got a special on their lash extensions and was thoroughly disappointed. I spent three hours in a chair getting them done (by a very sweet girl, Clara) only to look in the mirror at the end and wonder how this was any different than my normal lashes. They might be a touch longer, but they told me ahead of time, "you won't need to wear mascara they will be so full!" and you can't even see them. They also failed to explain ahead of time that you can't shower for 48 hours after getting them done. That detail would've been very help so I could've showered before I went. There are tons of rules that do not get explained until its too late to turn back. I was disappointed with their communication skills. (I asked 100 questions on the telephone, twice, and never got a lot of clarity. I guess that should've been my sign to not get the service done.)Thank goodness I got a 50% off deal to do them, but I will not be getting the fills. It seems like they could step up their quality of services and employees or maybe the descriptions of some of their services. I'll go back for an occasional massage, but not much else. read more

Just left Skin Zen, and I cannot say enough good things about this place! It is beautiful and clean inaide, and my aesthetician Elysia did an absolutely beautiful job. You know when you go to get your nails done or go for a massage and your experience is lackluster because the person working on you is just going through the motions? I love-love this place! Beware it's really tucked away so I'd say go to Dave & Busters parking lot. It's right in front of Babies R Us. The ladies are kind, informative, and very knowledgable of their product line. Anytime I get a facial I make sure and take note of their faces! If they look bright, supple and well cared for then I'm paying for service. Otherwise I move on. Jen was great!! She's highly knowledgable and gives a great facial. She was charismatic, didn't push products on me but gave me options for my skin. I will be back soon. I was very disappointed. I paid for a "premium" facial and was not satisfied, especially for the price. The place was nice, quiet and relaxing and the staff was friendly enough but the quality of skincare was very lacking. First, she actually admitted that I was not receiving part of the treatment because she "couldn't find what she needed" but proceeded to tell me how that part didn't' matter anyway. Second, I found blemishes on my forehead that had not been removed during the extraction process. When I pointed it out she showed me (very expensive) exfoliation products that might help. I recently treated myself to a massage here (thanks to Groupon!). The waiting area was clean and simple. It didn't have that super low lighting, candle lit entrance that some spas boast of, but that's ok with me. My massage therapist was Anita and she was really great! Unfortunately, I won't be going back here (reasons listed below), but if I did, I would definitely go back to Anita. She was very professional and gives a really relaxing massage. The reason I won't be coming back to this place is because everything is in one big room. Basically, you walk back into a room that has a bunch of facial chairs set up in the common area. The massage tables are in separate "rooms" with doors, but the walls are thin and don't go to the ceiling. So it really doesn't feel private. You can hear everything that's going on and they ask you to whisper out of respect for others. A little awkward if you ask me! I felt like I couldn't even unzip my purse because it'd be too loud! The feeling of the shared common area made me feel uncomfortable and I wasn't able to relax as much as I'd hope for with a massage. If that kind of thing doesn't bother you, then it could be worth checking out, especially when they have a great deal come up like the coupon I bought. But for me, that kind of thing was a deal breaker, so I definitely won't be going back. read more

I bought a groupon for Skin Zen and got a 70 min organic massage. The massage itself was pretty good. Not the best I've had, but I was relaxed when it was over. The woman at the front desk was extremely friendly and the front area looked nice. I immediately became uncomfortable though, when my massage therapist started reviewing the intake form in the front room. I ran through my comments quickly b/c I really didn't want anyone else to hear. When we went to the back I understood why. There are no private areas... the facial seats have curtains between then and the massage rooms are open at the top to the other rooms. You could hear people whispering and coming in and out of the big room. I hated that part and won't be back. I'm glad I paid the groupon price for the massage. read more

I bought a microderm facial on groupon for $40. Which I thought was awesome! It took 3 months to book my appointment and finally my appointment day came up and I was very excited and left disappointed. First off, this place is an open spa (not expected). This means that there are other people in the same room as you. Second, you sit in a chair not a bed and the chair is leaned back. Third, the room was freezing and I only had a thin sheet over my lap. The people were very nice, but the overall experience was unexpected. Plus, I ended up paying for a different type of facial because the microderm would not be done all over my face because I had breakouts and it would not be beneficial. Overall, I will not be visiting this spa again or sending any of my friends or family. read more

I got a massage here this weekend by Lola and it was FABULOUS! I have A LOT of tension in my shoulders and back from working on a computer for long hours and she really worked out the knots in my back and the achy spots on my body. I think this was the best massage I have ever had. The receptionist was a little unwelcoming but the massage totally made up for it her demeanor. If you have spots on your body you really need worked out I would suggest going here and asking for Lola. I think she only works weekends. I do not have a membership - paid non member price for the massage with a gift card I received as a gift and I have not had any other services here. read more

Caution to anyone who uses the Facelogic Spa in Northwest Austin, in front of Traget. They have gone out of business, with no notice to their clients, but they are still deducting monthly membership fees! I went for my monthly appt. this morning only to find a small note on the door stating that they were closed due to illness (??) Employees from a neighboring business told me that staff were there as late as yesterday hauling things away. Interestingly, yesterday my credit card was charged for my monthly membership. I will receive credit for that, but my bank warned that this Facelogic location could try to charge my account next month, since they have prior authorization...so watch for that. I will at my banks suggestion file a fraud report if that occurs! read more

Best facial of my life here with Shae. She is incredible and the zero gravity chairs are beyond relaxing. I loved the products she used (specifically the moisturiser and lip balm). Also had an incredible massage with Mindy. Both services were a great value. I only wish I could bring this spa back with me to LA! read more

I have been going to Anita at Skin Zen spa for over a year now, and I can not sing her praises loud enough. I think there are people who were born to do certain things in life, and she was born for this! Since I have been seeing her my range of motion in my shoulders, arms, back, and legs has improved greatly. Every month I leave feeling refreshed and relaxed. I have had other massages from different places, and I regret them because they aren't as good as Anita. At first, the privacy thing bothered me a little. I have been in there a few times when I was aggravated by chatting while I was trying to relax, but it was not so terrible that I would stop going. The front desk is friendly and I am always able to get an appointment when I need one. I belong to the monthly club also, so I tend to set up my next appointment while I am there wrapping up the current one. I have never not been able to get in. Wait! If I tell you how great Anita is you might all book her, then I will never get in! Don't go to Anita, she is terrible. ;) read more

Think twice about purchasing any of their products. Apparently, if you buy a product from their product line and you aren't happy with it you only have 48 hours to exchange, otherwise your stuck with it. And of course they don't tell you that when you purchase it! I have been a member here for over 4 years now and because of their lack of customer service I am cancelling and giving my money to a different Spa! I can't believe they are so cheap they wouldn't even exchange a product that's not working for my skin! There response is call the product line and see what they will do! Anita did my massage which was outstanding. However, I had paid for 70 minutes and only rec'd 40. I think that is poor business practice. I had a private room but could certainly hear other conversations going on. The woman at the front desk was friendly and welcoming doing a great job BUT all the little pet names should go. Bubalicious....bootilicious....please. VERY unprofessional to a new client such as myself. People want to be treated like adults...don't we? To a 50y.o it was distasteful. Thanks to Groupon I had a massage here. The staff was friendly and personable and the prices are fair. The establishment has a calm, relaxing atmosphere. My therapist was excellent - yay Anita. I'll be back to see her. My only con is that you have to walk through the facial area to get the massage rooms in the back. They do a god job of warning you to be mindful of the other patrons but it is quite awkward. read more
