I had a tiny splinter in the heel of my foot. I saw the Nurse Practitioner and her assistant today and they were wonderful! Both of them were so kind. The NP was totally gentle during the procedure and aware of how I was doing. They found it and successfully removed this tiny piece of glass that had been tormenting me for 10 days! Brooke Stidham is an angel! I've suffered with severe eczema on my neck and around my face for years that my primary care physician and dermatologist at Baylor Scott & White kind of shrugged off-- they only ever prescribed higher strength hydrocortisone, but Brooke took the time to listen to all my concerns and made me feel like I was very well taken care of. She was very thorough and wanted to make me as comfortable as she could, so she gave me samples of some medications and made sure that she sent my prescriptions to different pharmacies to keep the costs down. Adrienne Feasel is a superhero. I was one of Dr. Feasel's first patients at Ladera Park Dermatology. I began seeing her 12 years ago, in 2006, and I don't think I would trust my skin to anyone else. I came to her with a stubborn case of acne that had taken a wrecking ball to my self-esteem. She understood where I was and, over the next two years, led me through a course of treatment that helped me turn the wrecking ball back on the acne. She deserves a special place in heaven for the medical magic she practices. On top of just being a really super-duper doctor, Dr. Feasel has great bedside manner, a fantastic sense of humor, and makes me feel like she genuinely empathizes with my cares and concerns--probably because she does! She also never makes me feel rushed and fields all of my questions with a smile (I usually come with a list). I would recommend her in a heartbeat to anyone I cared about. read more

Finally! A dermatologist I like. It took a while (try 8 years) to find one in Austin that accepted, and agreed with, my desire not to treat acne orally. A dermatologist that didn't just walk in, take a quick glance at me and write me a prescription for tetracycline and retin-a or differin. A dermatologist that didn't hand me a preprinted sheet from their office about what products to use. Dr. DuBois took the time to sit down and talk to me about a few of my skin concerns (not limited to good ol' acne). She explained to me in detail what was going on. She took the time to really look at my skin. We discussed lots of solutions. She took the time to answer my questions (no, in her opinion, facials aren't worth the money and microderm and cosmetic peels at spas are only temporary and good if you want to do a series before an event), to talk to me about aging, to talk to me about long term solutions. Her skin is utterly GORGEOUS which makes me like and trust her even more. If you're looking for a caring, attentive dermatologist, Dr. DuBois is your woman. read more

I went into Ladera Park thinking that I would have a good first appointment partially based on these reviews. Instead, I saw Dr. Feasel for a mere ten minutes (maybe less). I was eager to explore my options regarding my skincare, but she was ready to write me a prescription and move on. I understand that sometimes doctors have busy days, but since this was my first appointment with her, I was annoyed that she seemed to be rushing through it. She didn't really explain the side effects or how to use the treatments she prescribed at all. I became even more skeptical when I asked her about some concerns I had about the side effects of Retin A (one of the medications she prescribed). I told her I sometimes wax and had read that waxing should be avoided while on Retin A, and she told me that it would not be an issue. Since then, I have seen two skincare specialists who were horrified that she would suggest that, and reiterated that waxing while using Retin A can be extremely damaging to the skin. I'm glad I trusted myself on this one because I'd be out a few layers of skin otherwise. While the staff was courteous, and though I was seen in a timely manner, I can't see past my extremely rushed appointment and the doc's bad advice. read more

I have seen Dr. Feasel for years now and I love her and trust her implicitly with my healthcare and cosmetic dermatology needs. I'm conflicted writing this review because she is hard to get an appointment with and for selfish reasons, I'd like to be able to get in whenever I'd like. For those who have given nasty reviews....you're insane! I have never felt rushed in this office and believe me, I'm sure I try Dr. Feasel's patience when I ask her to explain something for the millionth time. But she never shows it and always takes the time to explain in detail the pro's, cons and everything in between. I saw another dermatologist years ago who had made an incorrect diagnosis that led to months of pain, cost and lost time in finding a treatment plan that would've helped me. When I finally saw Dr. Feasel, she suggested biopsies and within a week I had conclusive results and a treatment plan that worked. She correctly diagnosed Shingles on my neck in it's earliest stage...I'm only 45 years old so surely that wasn't the first thing any doctor would've have thought about. Because of her quick diagnosis, I was put on medication so early in the attack that I didn't suffer the horror stories you hear about with shingles. I see her now mostly for Dysport but never hesitate to make an appt even for the smallest reason. I like going. She's great, she has a great sense of humor , she was also awesome with my teenage daughter. read more

I have gone to Dr. Feasel for all sorts of things. A rash (apparently I am allergic to the Lubriderm from the Dominican Republic), acne, skin scans, and cosmetic procedures. She will offer her professional opinion but she is not pushy with things like taking certain medications or cosmetic procedures which I appreciate. I like her so much I have sent an ex bf and 3 friends to her. Some more pluses about Ladera Park Dermatology is the office is nice and modern. If you have to sit in a MD waiting room this is the one to be in. Also the staff is great from the front desk ladies to the nurses. I've been seeing Dr. Janet DuBois for about 15 years. She has treated me for annual mole checks, rashes, mole removal, and face care. She's a genuine person, well grounded, with a focus on the right priorities. I was a bit nervous when she started Ladera Park, but I've been so pleased there. Great office environment, friendly and courteous staff, efficient and setting the right expectations. I've brought my husband in for annual mole checks, and my kids in for various things. I selected Ladera Park simply because it was in my zip code and it accepts Blue Cross/Blue Shield, but it was actually not an unpleasant experience. Because, seriously, going to a doctor only to stand there naked while a stranger looks at your skin with cold hands and a magnifying glass is usually so much fun. The staff got me back into an exam room quickly, and Dr. Feasel was there within minutes. She took her time in talking and asking me about any problems. She offered her honest opinion about my skin and didn't even lecture me for having a bit of a sunburn. I did have to pay with my own flesh (she took two moles off, omg!), but she was super nice about it. read more

I have now been seeing Dr. Feasel at Ladera Park Dermatology for 15 years, and my husband and teen daughter also see her. As a dermatology rep, I meet a lot of dermatologists and there are many great doctors in Austin, but I believe Dr. Feasel is the best in town. I love that she is very clinical but I can also talk to her about cosmetic options as I'm nearing the big 5-0. And my husband loves that she doesn't just burn and cut everything, but gives prescriptions to take care of his precancerous lesions and brings him back to burn off what's left behind. Dr. Feasel's entire staff is so friendly and helpful: Sue, Brooke, Olivia, Suzie, Emily and Angelique are all lovely ladies and they have been there for years, which shows how happy they are in their jobs. I was approaching my mid-40s and STILL struggling with acne. Dr. Feasel made the whole accutane prescription procedure as painless as possible. She has wonderful bedside manner. She even asked if she could pop 1 of my zits for me. NO doctor has EVER done that! My husband recently went to her due to a big black mole on his face that ended up being cancer. He went on and on about how nice she is. He hates going to the doctor, but he had nothing but positive things to say about his visit. Brooke is also awesome . Dr. Feasel, young, experienced, as well as patient with my needs fits me perfectly. Not unusual to work on over 90 spots on my yearly visits. My husbands cancers are usually on his balded head, so again, sensitive to his needs, Dr. Feasel serves us perfectly. In this "marketing" world, we are not pushed onto other services or products, but on care and ideas for keeping aging skin looking and feeling its best. I've been going to Ladera Park way before there was a Ladera Park and DuBois was in an office off of Mopaq. I love the doctors, but here is a huge issue with this office... the wait times. Every time I've visit, I've waited over 30 minutes or more. One time (years ago) they forgot they signed me in and proceeded to have lunch while I was in the waiting room for over an hour. Today it was my husband. 3:30 appointment and he was finally called back at 4:15. He got there 10 minutes early so he waited 55 minutes. If you wait times are THAT long then schedule less appointments. We all understand things happen, but every appointment always running late? Bring a book or two. read more

She never pushes medication or tries to drug you up; in fact, she prefers to use the most minimal medicine that will get the job done. First time at this office and I was beyond impressed! I saw Brooke who was able to get me in same day. I had an irritation behind my ear that my general doctor just shrugged off but Brooke took the time to listen to me and asked plenty of questions. I didn't feel rushed at any point. She was very friendly, professional and thorough. We did a swab and I got some ointments to use in the meantime. One day after using the ointments she gave me I was looking so much better. I got my swab results quickly with a courtesy call. I did a followup a week later and I was very happy with my results! Definitely recommend you see Brooke, she's awesome!!! read more

I've been a patient of Dr. Feasel's for about 5 years now, and I cannot say enough good about her. I first went to her as an adult with longterm, cystic acne that I was often depressed over. She counseled my daily routine, and prescribed me medications (both pills and a topical) that, slowly but surely, gave me PERFECT skin. I get compliments on my skin almost every day, and I (most importantly to me) never have to wear foundation or any other "all-over" makeup even when I'm dressed up and going out. This is the difference that having great skin makes! I've had issues with moles, scars, body acne, keratosis pilaris, and eczema - she's helped me through all of it with ease. Which brings me to her incredibly pleasant personality: She is like an old friend that you can see after 6 months and still feel totally comfortable with. Disclaimer: My 1-star rating is rating my specific experience, not Ladera Park Dermatology as a whole. It's possible your experience will be much better than mine. Four weeks ago, I had a sizable fibrolipoma removed from my right forearm by Dr. Feasel. I have had substantial issues with the wound since that time. After five total visits including the consultation--my fifth visit was today--I decided I should share my experience with others. Dr. Feasel may be a great doctor when it comes to prescribing medication, injecting botox, etc., but I would avoid her for tricky excisions like mine. - On the second visit--the day of surgery--a cut was made to an area that had not been anesthetized by lidocaine. The burning sensation was quite painful. - On the third visit the sutures were removed. However, the wound was quite open and I remember wondering at the time if the sutures probably should have stayed in or been redone. My mistake was not voicing this concern with Dr. Feasel. Very quickly, the wound became infected. There was significant bleeding and edema build-up. - I went back for my fourth visit a few days later because I was very concerned about the wound. It was obviously infected--redness, bleeding, etc. Dr. Feasel re-did many of the sutures, both above and below the skin. The procedure itself wasn't painful due to the anesthesia but after it wore off, the soreness was very acute. This time, care instructions included leaving the pressure bandage on for a few days and taking a 9-day supply of Doryx (doxycycline) antibiotic. - After the Doryx ran out, I noticed the skin beginning to itch once again. The area around the wound began getting pink. One spot had actually leaked a bit of blood and edema, and a crusty build-up had begun forming in several places. Having seen this before I knew it was probably getting infected. - On the fifth visit--today--I was told the crusty build-up actually prevents the wound from closing properly and would invite bacteria. I was not given any care instructions relating to this crusty build-up after my fourth visit. If I had been I would've been able to care for the wound properly and maybe make an earlier visit to head the problem off. On this visit, the build-up was removed and the sutures removed as well, leaving some sizable holes in the skin. The holes are just on the surface of the skin this time, so no new sutures were required, but it was obvious the wound was still not healing properly. This time, I was told to apply antibiotic ointment (Neosporin) to the wound to keep it from drying out and to prevent infection. I was told to keep the wound bandaged as well. The wound, I was told, would heal itself from the inside out. I feel that had the care instructions for the fifth visit been given to me on the fourth visit, the wound would have healed adequately. Overall, not a very pleasant experience. Again, it's hard to call a doctor "bad" due to one specific type of surgery. It's very possible she's an excellent doctor. If you are planning on having lipomas removed or other similar kinds of surgery, though, my recommendation is to find someone who has lots of experience with that specific surgery. read more

I can't say enough great things about Dr. Feasal and Ladera Park Dermatology. The office is clean and you are greeting immediately upon arrival. The staff are all pleasant. Dr. Feasal is always very comforting and sincere and will recommend and explain any procedure or product that she suggests based on your condition. Ultimately, the decision is yours, she is not pushy and you never feel rushed. It is always solid 1x1 visit time and she is sure to make you leave happy! If there is something she doesn't offer (i.e. v beam laser) she will make a recommendation for others. I found Dr Feasel because I ran at top speed away from another dermatologist in Georgetown who made me feel that every sun spot on my body was the direct result of my incompetence and not at all a factor of my Irish heritage and being raised in Arizona. I went to see Dr. Feasel in 2009 for mild acne. She prescribed a medication that she said is harmless and basically similar to vitamin A. I asked her about the side effects and she said that they are temporary and stop once the medication is stopped. Well, I stopped the medication 5 years ago and I am still suffering with the side effects and they keep getting worse every year. I don't know how she gets away with prescribing a medication that is so harmful to the body for mild acne. read more

The biggest mistake of my life was going to Dr. Weasel, excuse me Dr. Feasel, for a few pimples behind my ears. She prescribed Isotretinoin (aka Claravis) for the pimples for 6 months. She gave me a dosage higher than the recommended dosage range. I was given 1.5 mg/kg/day with a cumulative dose of 270 mg/kg over 6 months. I raised my concerns about the side effects both before and during the treatment, and she told me that none of the side effects were permanent, except if I became pregnant that I could have a deformed baby. Well, I kept on telling her that I am having trouble doing simple things due to the joint and muscle pains such as walking, bending over, and lifting my arm to eat, but she just laughed and told me not too worry about those problems and they will definitely go away after the treatment is discontinued. Despite my numerous side effects and abnormal blood tests, she continued to increase the dosage during the course of my treatment. I am still waiting for the side effects to go away such as joint and bone pain, muscle pain, digestive problems, dry eyes, dry skin, thin skin, dry hair, hair loss, tinnitus, poor night vision, etc. This has been going on for years since taking this medication. The dermatologists that I have seen after her have said that they are shocked by this dosage and that I should have not been prescribed this drug in the first place because it is only reserved for patients with severe acne and only after other treatments have failed. If you see Dr. Weasel, oops I did it again, I mean Dr. Feasel, please do not trust her and do your own research before taking anything that she suggests. Her careless treatment could potentially harm the rest of your lives. read more
