This review is long overdue! Liza is amazing! A gifted esthetician who has worked closely with notable dermatologists and cosmetic surgeons in SF, she has years of experience working with clients helping them improve the health/appearance of their skin. Liza knows the right combination of moisturizer, serum, glycolic acid (and sunscreen, always) that will nourish/protect your skin. Her advice for healthier skin is always straight forward, never complicated and she never tries to force you to purchase unnecessary products/treatments. And speaking of treatments she knows which ones, from chemical peels to LED Therapy to microcurrent facial toning, that will best support the health of your skin. I started seeing Liza at her original location in SF back in 2015 and when she moved to San Anselmo I initially wasn't sure if I would be able to continue to see her because its a bit of a drive from where I live. But now I cannot imagine not seeing her for my regular facials! The 30-40 minute drive is so worth it! The facials are a treat but in reality they have been an investment in the health of my skin. Looking out for my best interest, she discouraged services that my skin doesn't need (rather than just selling me whatever I wanted, because I literally want to try everything!). If you want a facial that will actually bring positive change to your skin, than come to Liza! Her facials are not only relaxing but they are incredibly effective. As someone who has worked in salons and the skincare industry in general for ten plus years, I am extremely picky about product quality and the expertise of my esthetician and I am so happy to have found Liza at Skin Lab! I am also particular about personality because I want to be sure I am comfortable and don't feel awkward being so close and intimate with someone for over an hour. ******LIZA's MICROCHANNELING IS STILL TRANSFORMING MY SKIN******. Liza's microchanneling treat has done more for my skin than injectables. Liza has been taking care of my skin for the past decade. Typically, we do microdermabrasion every four weeks and I'm always thrilled with the results and how fresh my skin looks ten years later. All of my juvenescence I owe to Liza. I have recently started microchanneling again and the results are still amazing, and still a fraction of the cost of laser resurfacing. Per Liza's suggestion, I have done a series of four microchanneling sessions. After each session additional fine lines vanish from my face. I have a pesky resting line under my right eye that injectables have been unable to vanquish. After my fourth microchanneling session with Liza the line under my right eye has VANISHED. It's been several months since this round of microchanneling and my skin looks just as plump, radiant, and line-free as the week after my fourth treatment. Also, I am in love with the Procell Skin Care line that accompanies the microchanneling treatments. Under Liza's care Marin dwellers can look their absolute best. I have had problematic skin since I can remember and into adulthood had breakouts and redness. Thankfully I found Skin Lab and Liza and the results were more than I anticipated. I'm so excited that Liza is also open in Marin! I've been going to see her in SF for 10 years now. She's done wonders for my hyperpigmentation, and as the years have gone by, really helped me look my best with an anti-aging regimen. I am super super picky and I am over the moon to have found Liza!!!! It is clear that not only does she love what she does, she's damn good at it AND incredibly knowledgeable about anything pertaining to the actual science and pathophysiology of skincare, skincare products and the mechanism of action for new and older technologies. Given my background as a nurse practitioner, I can't relay how impressed I am. As far as the actual facial itself... the room is incredibly relaxing, comfortable, and she uses a million products that smell amazing and feel like they are actually doing something too (lol)! She spends an incredible amount of time with you and just makes you feel so at ease- like you're spending time with an awesome girlfriend. In addition love the microdermabrasion and LED light touches! At the end of my first facial with her, I was shocked with how radiant my skin was. I was glowing like I had never glowed before, and for days too, despite having been taking horrible care of my skin prior to seeing her as a more regular client like now. She does the most wonderful extractions too, while somewhat uncomfortable, but by no means are they intolerable and you know that she's actually making things better... How it's supposed to be done! Liza is one of those professionals when you find them you follow them wherever they go. There are very few beauty products and services that deliver what they promise. Liza at SkinLab definitely falls into this category. She knows her craft well and more importantly the science behind it. I've been a client for over 10 years now. My skin always gets compliments and I credit my regular microdermabrasion sessions with Liza. I recently tried her Jessner peel as well and it went exactly as she described. I had some spots and sun damage as a control and was very pleasantly surprised with the results and the spots fading as much as they did. She provided a day to day schedule and what to expect. She followed up with me each day to see how I was doing. The peel was well worth my time and money. I've tried other folks' and their "chemical peel" only to have absolutely nothing happen for the same cost. This was definitely not the case with the Jessner Peel I received from Liza. It was like I got a fresh new face. I cannot wait to get another one. In the meantime, I go every 4 weeks for my microdermabrasion. Really enjoy my visits here. Location is great and Liza is doing an awesome job. It feels like i am coming to see a friend instead of so common for other places "service provider". Very personal, every sessions feels like a relaxing spa treatment, i leave refreshed. She does a superb job on my skin, crams quite a lot into one session: dermabrasion, extraction, hydration stuff. I have been getting monthly facials from Liza consistently for the past nine years at the San Francisco Location, and am now super thrilled to be in her new spot in Kentfield. It's super cute and much easier to get to. I started seeing her when I was 31 and now I'm 40, but my skin looks and feels as if it's only 25! I get compliments all the time and I can't thank Liza enough for making me feel and look beautiful. I started noticing in my thirties that my skin was rough, dull, and wasn't taking moisture like it used to. I also started obsessively noticing wrinkles on my temple, forehead, and around the eye/crows feet area. I looked up expensive botox treatments online but wasn't ready to commit to the price, the upkeep, or to the whole noninvasive plastic surgery thing. It was at this time that a friend of mine referred me to Liza at SkinLab and now I'm a regular customer. For the first two years, I got monthly Glycolic Advanced Exfoliation Facials. I could immediately tell that my skin tone became more even, my wrinkles were less defined, and my sun damage spots disappeared. Now I'm getting monthly Microdermabrasion Facials and it has significantly minimized my fine lines and wrinkles especially in my brow and forehead area. On a side note, I have very sensitive skin and thought that my face might breakout or scar from monthly facials. However, this was not the case at all! Liza is an amazing person and a very educated and skilled esthetician. My mom made me start getting facials in high school and I looked at them as complete torture so I steered away from them in my early twenties and just relied on my youth to get me by. When I started coming to Liza in my late twenties, my skin was very damaged. Sun damaged, the awesome combo of oily/dry at the same time (why, GOD?), and I was not getting rid of old dead skin very well. Liza changed all of that. She got me on a regimen that's super easy and I see her regularly. I can't believe that I'm a person who LIKES their skin. I'm so happy with the results I've seen that it's a seriously joyful part of my day doing my skin routine because I know it's working for me. I'm so thankful for Liza. Amazing side note: I would pay this woman much much more if she charged it without batting an eyelash. She is worth it. Also, she incorporates about 20min of microderm IN your facial! The value of that is amazing. Most medspas charge what she does for a facial and then charge another $65-$85 for microderm. The value is incredible.
