Came to Windsor for a day trip and Skippy's came up as must have breakfast. Reminded me of a cross between Denny's and Waffle House. I had the Puff Cakes which is a cross between a biscuit and a pancake. The texture was crispy on the outside and soft and chewy. I enjoyed it but was unsure if I added syrup or not. I did! Each time was enjoyable, not only cuz the company, the food and ambiance were nice as well. They sell beer!!! Did I mention you can have brunch with a cold one? Fries, omelettes, sunny side eggs, Canadian bacon, sausages, soups, wraps, club sandwiches, beer... The menu gives lots of options for those hangover days. Waitress said we couldn't separate four tables that were together as "students sit there." So my party of three crammed amongst the rest on the other side of the restaurant. During the whole stay no students showed up to you eat. I don't know if it's some VIP section for UW students to maximize potential gratuity, but try serving the actual customers there! This little breakfast joint makes me feel like I entered the olden days :) the food here is delicious. I have tried the eggs Benedict, the buttermilk pancakes with drizzled Nutella, the broasted chicken and fries. Worst place, literally. The owners here makes it very apparent that they do not care about their customers. Particularly since this is a place that just cooks your basic diner food, you would think this would be a decent spot for a student to grab breakfast after a late night.... NOPE! The owners actually seemed biased against younger people. I wanted my eggs done a specific way, and was willing to pay extra for it, however, that's apparently a big no-no, and the waitress actually gave me the stink eye for wanting to pay extra so I can have my food a certain way that I wanted (which was 1 egg over easy and I egg over medium)...it's like they don't even want business. The breakfast meat was over salted, I couldn't actually finish a plate of sausages and ham because I ran out of bread that could soak up all the salt...and I ended paying $12 for a crappy plate of eggs and meat, at a no name diner. Head over to Paul's Kitchen if you are in Windsor, way better food, opens for the same hours, and better prices. The food was okay, and I never have an issue with the waitress', but I waited half an hour for two breakfast sandwiches with homefries today because there was only one cook in the kitchen because apparently the owner had decided to take off. The juice is ridiculously overpriced, they barely gave us any homefries at all, and they forgot the lettuce on my BLT. I also got a milkshake once and it was basically chocolate milk. As a broke student, this visit wasn't worth it. read more

Skippy's Restaurant has great food I'll give it that but when it comes to customer service, it was by far the worst experience I have ever had eating out. From the second we walked in, the older waitress/MANAGER spoke to us rudely directing us to another table from where we originally had wanted to sit. Then, when she made the mistake of bringing three milkshakes instead of one and two hot chocolates, instead of simply apologizing about it, she acted like we had made the mistake and walked away GRUMBLING and MUTTERING under her breath about us. Thank God the food was good or we have walked out at this point. But not once did she ask us how everything was and when we asked for two glasses of water, she brought over one in a dirty glass. She had long lost any chance of a tip at this point but when we went to pay, would you believe she over charged us and lied to our face about it!! Hot chocolate says $1.59 on the menu but she charged us $4.00 for both before adding the taxes!! So, I would NOT RECOMMEND this place to anyone because the service will just ruin your entire day even if the food is good. And there is no point in trying to call to complain because she will answer the phone everytime and tell you that the owner is either not there or busy (even though we had just left and seen him there...). read more
