The carwash at Skips is very convenient, it works good but does have some issue. If you use the foam brush get ready to wear more foam than gets on your vehicle one of the fittings leak badly. Also the hoses get stuck on a make shift cover in the ceiling which is frustrating.. $8.00 for a carwash is a great price and I use it often. read more

These people are the most unreliable business that was ever created on planet earth. Absolutely disgusted with the service and the people here. I've tried going FIVE TIMES for a SIMPLE INSPECTION and STILL haven't received one. Always an excuse with these people absolutely unprofessional and unreliable. After an epic road trip through storms and 1600 miles from FL to the "quiet side" of MDI, the dastardly "service engine soon" came on 20 miles before we hit our cottage rental. Yelp to the rescue, which led me to Skip's only 3 miles away. This is a rural area, so we were lucky. I called Skip early Monday and he said he could squeeze me in. Truth us, he had me over a barrel if he wanted to. Instead, he charged me $25 to run the diagnostic and explain I had nothing to worry about. While his guys checked things out, I spoke to a local getting her car serviced. She said Skip was excellent and honest and fair. I found this to be true. So, if you are on vacation and need a repair or even if you are a local unfamiliar with Skip (not likely), he has my highest recommendation. read more

We came to Skip's out of necessity. We were camping in Acadia National Park when our battery charge indicator light came on. We brought the car to Skip's because it was the only place open on a Saturday. They did one test and determined it was the battery, charged us over $200 for a new one, and sent us on our way. The next day our car was acting up again, but we were on our way out of town and decided we would wait until we could get to a better mechanic. We were able to bring it to the Chrysler dealership and have their mechanic look at it. Turns out, I never needed a new battery. I needed a new auto stop/start battery. Not only that, but when Skip's took out my original battery they took out vital parts of the battery that weren't returned to the car. This hack job cost me $200 at Skip's and another $300 to fix what Skip's broke. Stay away! read more

I've had a bunch of auto challenges this winter, and Skip and his staff have gone out of their way to make sure that I know what needs work, how much it will cost, and the time it will take. Tried the car wash twice, sadly the first time i left with a filthy car. I called expressed my disappointment and was told to return for a free wash it would be adjusted by then. I returned a week later, no one at the desk waited, finally a woman came out gave me coupons and said the machine had been adjusted. I proceeded through the car wash and back to the office after as i had been instructed to "let her know how it went" . I waited 5 minutes while she talked with a tech to even be acknowledged. I explain though my car was "cleaner than before it was still quite dirty"... not once did she offer to look at it or a refund! "Guess it needs adjusting again" was the only response I left shaking my head! Save your time and money read more

We are summer residents of Mt. Desert Island and have used Skip's service for the past 2-3 years. Always attentive and easy to deal with, they have done excellent work on our 1990 Ford Escort, including replacing some difficult to obtain and install parts. Emailed Skip one night to ask for an early morning oil change the next day. He got back to me the next morning, and when we got in from the Swans Island ferry we rolled right into Skips where he set us up with an oil change quickly and efficiently. He was also very reasonably priced and polite. HIghly recommended! read more

Good, quick service. Reasonably priced. We needed to get our tire patched after picking up a screw in the park. They took us right away, fixed the tire, and charged us $23. Would recommend to a friend. read more
