Community Boating offers all of that especially when a person can socially distance herself on a kayak in perfect summer weather where the sky is shining brightly, the Charles is shimmering, and the humidity level was comfortable. I liked that you could safely launch and return the kayak because they have this mechanism that's like a saw tooth where you use the paddle to provide momentum on your departure and return. Everyone was super friendly and helpful. I witnessed staffers coordinating getting sailboats out and giving lessons. My one criticism is that I wished they had more expanded hours during the week. They open at 3 pm and close at sunset.

I was hoping to learn sailing this summer but this place is very disorganized. The people…read moreconducting orientation have apparently not even been out on the water. And discourage you saying the water is really dirty. They have you take two classes on land on your own and then take a boat out on your own by coordinating yourself on Slack. It's not really a place to learn with a coach. Might be fine if you're just here to rent - can't speak to that.
