I have been here a few times for things no clue why I never wrote a review. It's in a shared strip mall and FYI the stated time they open is the time they open even with a long a$& line outside. You can do pre orders and go to the back and pick them up. If you want anything from the case take a number, they have just about everything including lunch meat, froze lobsters, king crab, house ground beef, all your meats, pork and etc. Staff is friendly and efficient. When they have a sale it's usually worth a trip. Some things we got from here were usually pretty good. They also carry all kinds of spices and rubs including stuff from Stuart's Spices as they make a rub for them specifically. They also have some produce and lots of frozen offerings. Can't say enough about this business. I don't live close and I bypass several other butchers closer to me because they use the Clover app and you can earn points and save money... but after having issues with the Clover app, and how useless their customer service is, the awesome people at skips on the ridge didn't hesitate to help as well as manually programming in the points that the app wasn't giving me. Every time I go in there I'm always greeted with smiles and the prices are great, but today they went one step further. I wish more businesses were like this one. read more

This little meatery is located in West Ridge Plaza on 104 aka West Ridge Rd. this is the second time getting a few pounds of chicken wings for smoking. When I ordered them I didn't realize that you could get the tip-less option or them already cut up, if it was mentioned I would have taken that option and skipped the annoyance of additional prep. My mother comes here a lot and I have been here occasionally. A few weeks ago, I and my mother went to this location and the employee who helped us had one of the nastiest attitudes for no reason. To the point where another customer next to us noticed it as well. I made a complaint through their website and have yet to hear anything back. My mother said when she does come, if she has that employee, he always has the same negative attitude. Something needs to be done about that especially before he runs across the wrong person. read more

I just left this market. The owners son Jeff was yelling loudly and for an extended period of time at an employee in front of many many customers. She quit because of him and I'm sure she needed the job as much as Skips needs employees. He made an ass out of himself. If he wasn't the owners son he should be fired. Several customers were in awe of his behavior. After his tirade he continued to throw stuff around. Slamming food and whipping bags. He ran his hand through his hair and touched product. The customer asked him to change his gloves. I am a long time customer. But this may be my last time. read more

This is my favorite Skip's location in Rochester. All of them are good but what I love most about this location is the staff. Even though COVID-19 precautions are in effect, they were still kind and energetic. They take the proper measures to ensure that we are safe as customers as well as for themselves which is important now. On my last visit I was privileged to be helped by Mike(my favorite employee at this location). Mike to me the best! He's fast, kind, and for lack of a better term "smooth." I hope every time I come in I get to work with him. They have decent prices and excellent meat choices, plus the quality of the there meat is top notch. read more

Just got home with the most gorgeous chuck roasts, amongst other items. The store is pristine. Staff are friendly and professional. I purchased a meat package, incredible value, and one of the staff carried the box out to my car and put it in my trunk for me! My absolute go to for meat, chicken and seafood!!! read more

My husband stopped in to buy ten pounds of Boneless Country Spare Ribs. The sign in the case said "Western", but the worker told him they were the same thing. When my husband got home, looked through the meat and trimmed it, he ended up losing a couple of pounds of waste and had very small pieces of meat left. We had to run out and buy meat elsewhere. It had been quite a while since we had shopped at Skips, and we're surprised that it has gone downhill. We usually get our Country Spare Ribs at Tops or Price-Rite, and we will continue to do so. read more

Bought a beef tenderloin on 10/11/20 for 131 dollars, it was 14.99 per lb. weighed 8.79lbs or at least that's what I was charged. Weighed it later that night because it just felt lighter then the 8.79lbs. and It only weighed 5.20lbs. I know there some waste when it's cut and trimmed but over 3lbs. and over 45 dollars!! I can't believe the service we didn't get! People were rude, workers didn't ask to help as we waited in line. I took a number and S I waited for Uber to be called people pushed past me to get waits on. Skips should use the number system If they make you take one. People should be less like ass holes and push ahead of those clearly waiting. Won't go back!!! read more

I'd been to Skips in Henrietta and in Fairport and expected to walk in to a plain old butcher shop at this Skips as well; uh, no. This is a gorgeous, large store that had the standard glass cases featuring nice cuts of meat, poultry and seafood, but it's also basically a small grocery store! There are quite a number of freezer cases featuring just... everything! Frozen meats, seafood, veggies, convenience foods, desserts...everything you'd find at a grocery store, along with a dairy case and fresh produce! There is a large selection of sauces and spices and rubs to choose from and large tubs of all the BBQ sauce favs to purchase. This was a very busy place the Sunday we stopped in for caveman bf to pick up some sausages. We took a number and waited about 10 minutes for our turn. Craig ended up with some uniquely flavored sausage and some mild Italian links for the grill. I spent the entire time browsing the store and watching people making huge poultry purchases.. it was a fun trip for sausage that I didn't expect. Such a gorgeous place and the staff are helpful and have the sense of urgency necessary to service the big crowd that was there that day. Can't wait til Craig needs more sausage! read more

Skip's has some of the highest quality meats and their prices are great. I actually compared the supermarket chain in Rochester's family sized meat prices to Skip's any size prices and Skips beat them every time with the exception of the Ribeye steaks. Skip's was just a few cents more but I think they are a better cut. They don't blink an eye over special orders. I have a meat dish that requires top round cut a quarter of an inch thick. That other store would give me very thin sandwich cuts when I was very specific with my order. I think Skip's brought out a ruler to measure the cut. Everyone is friendly. If I have a request it might be longer hours but frankly they are well worth the special trip. read more

First time there after having read and heard several recommendations. I showed up in the early afternoon on a Saturday (they close at 3PM) and of course, there were quite a few people standing around. I could not determine if there was any sort of a line. I just kinda stood there for a minute wondering and then finally just approached a patron and he told me to take a number. The number dispenser is on the door frame of the entrance. My family goes here all of the time for meat deals considering it's the closest to our house. We're definitely reconsidering it though. Today we went in and a staff member had on a thin blue line shirt in support of "bluelivesmatter" which is uncomfortable and unwelcoming considering the fact that it was created in response to black people calling out issues of unjust treatment at the hands of police. A lot of the customer base is African American, they have black employees. I'm sure if it was the other way around, and a black employee wore a blacklivesmatter shirt, they would be forced to take it off and the white customers would complain about it. read more

Great meat market. The staff are friendly, attentive and quick. The meat selection seams to be of higher quality then wegmans. They offer a variety of combo packs which will save you money if you have a deep freeZer at home. I picked up some lobster tails there this weekend and they were delicious. They will trim and butterfly your meat any way you like. I knocked off a point because not a huge fan of their location, and their poultry sausage is always very dry for some reason. All in all a great meat market, and as some people have mentioned make sure you get a number on the way in, there is a sign and it is directly to your left as you enter the business. read more

Walked in not really knowing where to get a ticket number, and I wasn't sure if I needed to get a number if I was just buying stuff from the freezer. The number tickets are to the right of the front door. Got a number anyway and got some frozen oxtail for $6.99/lb. Prices for chuck meat and chicken were pretty comparable to stuff you can find at Wegman's. A little disappointed in the selection of meats because there wasn't much variety. read more

Great Meat Market- Very Friendly - very reasonable prices - a couple of people commented on the ticketing system - yeah you need to learn where it is and use it, but not a reason to give mediocre rating. Sign up for their weekly specials they normally have good deals in there - they also have them on their website if you do like to give your email away. Also, one thing I have taken advantage often, is calling ahead to have special cuts prepared that may not be in their meat case - they are always willing to cut what you want. Wanted a prime cut of ribeye, they said very rare. Only 2% of the cow actually offers prime cut. Maybe in a 5 star restaurant but most people would never taste. They did not have the cut. Sold me angus which they said average person could not tell the difference. I must not be average. Not impressed. read more
