Love Skipton! Been bringing my little guy here to doggie day care & boarding every so often for over 3 years now. Staff is always friendly, helpful & accommodating. My dog just loves when we pull up in front & can't wait to go see his friends! Not too many people/places I would trust caring for my dog ( especially boarding for a week or more) but Skipton staff & owner Stacey make it really easy to trust them. I called Stacey the owner a couple weeks ago asking about the possibility of boarding my dogs in July while we are away in Greece for almost 3 weeks. I told her we may have family coming to stay at our house while we are away so it's still up in the air. I wanted to provide the dates just to cover all my basis and not have to worry about them being booked and she assured me it will be fine if I just call within the next couple weeks. She didn't even want to hear the dates!! Couple weeks later (today) I call and say we still don't know for sure if they are coming but at this point I'm not counting on it and to book the given dates. Stacey now tells me she can only accommodate a few of the days out of the almost 3 weeks because they are booked. I said you assured me I'd be fine in July if I just called back and her response is "it's been booked" She also told me she only boards dogs that go to daycare there...my dogs have been going to daycare there for years. They aren't regulars anymore like they were before Stacey took over because my husband now works from home and it's not needed. I will be writing reviews like this on all her platforms. Very unprofessional. I know many families that take their dogs to Skipton but I'll let them know how you've handled this situation..just in case they don't read this review! read more

I have been using Skipton for a year now since we moved to Ashland from downtown Boston - they are fabulous! Jake is a shy dog and doesn't play but he's always comfortable hanging in the window or lounging on a rock. He's staying overnight too and they always text me photos and updates! (both daycare & overnights.) Paula their groomer is THE ABSOLUTE BEST! Jake is a cocker so I'm picky about his haircut and not once has she disappointed me! Thanks Skipton!! read more

Great staff, loving and caring. The owner, complete opposite! Calls one morning to say our pup can't go there anymore. I asked him "why, did he do something wrong?" Answer was "no, he's just big and I have a feeling he might step on another dog." I confronted him further on the issue and the man could not string together an explanation that made sense. No warning or communication in the past. The guy should not be a business owner. read more

Stella couldn't be happier at Skipton. She's so excited when I pull in the driveway. The staff treats her like family. When I pick her up from day camp or overnight stays she is absolutely exhausted. I love a tired doggy! When the weather is warm they have a kiddie pool outside that she loves. I couldn't recommend them higher. read more

Skipton Pet Lodge is the best full service doggy day care I have ever experienced. Its live-in-manager Joanne has vast experience with dogs, healthcare, the rescue business and so many other areas of expertise. She (and her talented staff) have been so kind and effective in welcoming my pup Scooter (a mini Pinscher) to the Day Care. He's a skittish little guy and he became comfortable quickly which was a big relief to me. Joanne is also an invaluable resource for recommendations on Vets, grooming, pet supplies and all things dog. She has helped me immensely in getting settled with my new pup. As a working pet mom, I rely on Skipton Pet Lodge for day care and boarding and they have been very accommodating with very reasonable rates. I recommend their services without hesitation to anyone looking for a safe fun place to leave their pet for the day or for overnight stays. read more

I just brought my dog in for grooming with Paula for the first time, and she was amazing! I have a long haired dog (pomeranian) that I do my best to brush, but it had been way too long since I had him groomed. She got all of his knots out without having to cut him short like other groomers have, and was done in an hour and a half. He looks great, and his coat is super soft and fluffy. read more

We absolutely love Skipton's! Our 12lb cockapoo has a blast. Our dog doesn't like to be home by herself, so this is a great place for her to be around other dogs and humans when we are gone. She is usually very attached to us, but when we walk in the door at Skipton's she cries of excitement and doesn't even look back at us! She has spent the night here a few times and they let the dogs sleep on a pull out couch. Where else do they get this type of treatment? She is just as spoiled at Skipton's as she is at home. The best part is you do not need to make an appointment to drop off or pick up, so this gives us a lot of flexibility! read more

So disappointed in the Skipton Pet Lodge. I had made an appointmet 2 weeks ago for today and was told no one had written in the appointment. I called to confirm the drop off time and was told I now have to wait to bring in our dog another 2 weeks. Next time you make mistake it might be a good idea to try and accommodate your customers a bit sooner than 2 weeks. Will take business to another groomer. read more

Skipton Pet Lodge is the best place we've ever had a dog stay (based on 40+ years of experience with canine family members). We've taken our very timid rescue dog there many times over the last four years for day care and overnight lodging. The openness and homelike atmosphere are the absolute best for him. He's always in great shape - though exhausted from playing! - when we pick him up. We love the photos that Skipton is so good about texting to us. It's so gratifying to see him (and sometimes hear him) playing with other dogs. The invariably kind staff members obviously love dogs. We also very much appreciate that there is a live-in manager. The price is very reasonable and the hours are so accommodating. We hope Skipton is around for a very long time! read more

The staff was great with our 4 month old American Bully (not bulldog) and all loved her and raved about how well she got along with the other dogs. The staff told us that her breed is one that would be allowed since she was coming in from the time when she was a puppy. After bringing her in several days, I came to pick her up after work today and I was told by the business owner that she wouldn't be allowed back. She did not hurt another dog, wasn't acting aggressively, or exhibiting any behavior that could justify her not being allowed back. I was told that he didn't like how playful she was with the smaller dogs (she's currently under 30 lb.). He then proceeded to shove her into my arms. This is the same owner who told my girlfriend that our German Shepherd wasn't allowed due to her weight (65 lb.) without ever meeting her. I was then told by another staff member that he actually doesn't allow German Shepherds because he had a bad experience with one once. To put it bluntly: he lied to us. Despite our dog's exemplary behavior/friendly demeanor and her popularity among the staff who was with her for several days, the owner saw her for one afternoon and decided that she is not allowed back. Based on conversations with the rest of the staff who were with her each time she was in, this is not a decision they were in agreement on. This is a clear case of breed discrimination by the business owner. I would discourage anybody from bringing their pets to Skipton not only due to this being morally wrong, but also a shameful business practice! read more

We were in the area for a wedding and needed a place for our aussie. When we arrived, he immediately started wagging his tail and went right in. They kept us updated with photos and when we pick him up the next day, he was happy but tired and had been brushed! Great place! read more

I moved to this area about 3 years ago and have been searching for a good groomer for that entire time. I have a Wheaten terrier which is a breed that needs more expert grooming than some breeds. Hair in the ears needs to be plucked, hair between the toes needs to be taken away-both of these to prevent medical problems. Also my Josie is very heat sensitive and it's difficult to get her hair short enough without making her look ridiculous. Thank heaven for Paula who just started grooming at Skipton Lodge. This place used to be called the Idle Dog. The owners sold the place to Skipton, who has actually put a good deal of $ into the place. For example, they just installed whole house A/C. Luckily it remains a terrific place to board your small dog (ours is a 15 lb. Cairn). The dogs are not caged. They have the run of the first floor of a two story home and a large enclosed yard. The people are very nice and quite competent. Peace of mind is high. read more
