Ok. So I came out here like 2 years ago with my dogs (well behaved and on leash) and was told by the girl at the bar that only service dogs are allowed and only outside. So I've been avoiding going here for like 2 years because this chick tells me I can't bring my kids. My husband goes to some meeting/conference and meets another bartender from Skookum and tells her what we were told and she told my husband that dogs are totally allowed in the brewery. I've been boycotting Skookum because this other chick and am glad I finally decided to go last week. This place is HUGE! And wow .. what a great location. Just gorgeous. And a resident pup that I've decided I want her to like me. Now to the beer. Yeah .. its pretty awesome. I got one of the like 5 IPA's on tap. Yo .. that's kinda awesome. Just a nice relaxed atmosphere with great people behind the bar who are knowledgeable about the beers and well .. they're nice people, too. Definitely keeping Skookum on the list now. Angel, the bartender there is amazing! It was our first time there, and we love micro breweries. We were welcomed when we started our beer adventure with Angel. His side kick was named "Cat" were both knowledgeable about all the beers they offered. This out of the way brewery is serving solid porter and stout. But the experience and service leaves something to be desired. I tried calling them to check their hours, food options, etc but no pick up. Decided to take the risk and head up anyway - since the beer is supposedly that good. We arrived at the brewery about 20 minutes early - couldn't time the drive up from Seattle perfectly. Since they knew we were waiting - only car in the lot - maybe they'd open up a bit early. Nope. We tried calling while waiting but no answer. No biggie but we were hungry and anxious they weren't going to sell food. They finally open the gate and we all head on up - four adults and two kids. One of the staff members yells out from the place "they can't come in here!" apparently kids aren't allowed in the tasting room - when I asked the lady why she proceeded to explain that it was Skookums decision to ban children. Fair enough, I have no issue with that I guess - though it'd have been nice if you would put that on your website or answer your phones. So we don't have to drive out of the way and wait 20 minutes only to be told to leave. They wouldn't even let my kids use the restroom - so they peed on their tree and we left. read more

Let me begin by saying this review pertains specifically to the motorcycle community, and clubs in particular. Skookum has always provided great beer and good food. Cash-only is a downside for some, but there's a cash machine (fee applies) present. This said - I ride by skookum now and again for a beer, and on our last visit my wife and I were riding with a close friend who happens to be in a motorcycle club. As such, he was wearing patches on his jacket. We walk in from a rainy ride, sit down, and get ready to enjoy some great beer (the beer is great, don't let anyone tell you different), and are quickly approached not by one of the TWO waitresses working the floor, but by the bartender who stands about 6'3" 230lbs. Bodybuilder type, beard, tats, the whole nine yards - definitely intimidation factor as I didn't observe him personally visit other tables. Guy arrives at our table and says "I want to get a look at these patches, because I don't like patches. This is a no colors bar....but I guess you're ok." We get our food/drink, thoroughly weirded out and the bartender eyes us the entire time. There is a prominent sign outside at the gate which reads "no minors/outside food or beverages." Not one thing about leather vests with patches sewn on. Nothing about dress whatsoever. Attn Skookum: If you're going to categorically exclude a subset of people based on affiliation, please post it at the door. Theres lots of places to take our business and we would have liked the opportunity to do so before being made to feel like criminals and second class citizens. Make up a "no colors" sign, put it on the gate, and let future MC affiliated patrons and their guests choose another place to drink. We left, went to The Anchor, and were treated excellent. read more

I am SO glad I finally made it to this brewery! Steven and I made a prior attempt to go here just under two years ago while coming back from a trip from Vancouver, BC. We entered the place into our GPS and wanted us to turn right into...the town's airport. Uh. No. There is no brewery where you say there is one! We poked around at some of the building across the street from the "Your Destination Is On The Right" comment but found nothing. We figured out we turned too late. We tried to get to the brewery again this past weekend and came in from a different direction. We found it! Hooray! The GPS directions are still not correct but if you come up from the South you can see it better if you don't know what to look for. It also helped that the place was very popular on Friday night and there parked cars everywhere! At last we got to try Skookum's beer! I got Amber's Hot Friend and as the name implies is an Amber which was quite good! Steven got their Pale Ale which also was quite good! The service is top notch and very personable! Just don't get tripped up with GPS directions! That's all! read more

My wife and I have been there three times. Once when they were open for just a few weeks, a few months later, and early in 2019. From our experiences, the staff are unavailable most of the time. They won't mix the beer. Our last experience was flat out unfriendly. We go to many other tasting breweries, especially in Bellingham and we enjoy ourselves. Not that the food vendor has anything to do with the beer or the staff, but if you invite a hot dog vendor that serves cheap dogs on plain white buns for 7 bucks, you got a problem. - Jeff read more

Went to Skookum for the first time today. Beer: There were 10+ beers on tap. You can also get free small tastings if you want to taste before you buy. I purchased a taster tray flight for $11 which consists of 5-5oz glasses. They have several IPAs as well as a porter, stout, hef and a lager. The beer tastes incredible and quite fresh! Food: The bartender offered me free pretzels which was nice as I could clear my palette between beers. When was the last time you could get free pretzels anywhere?! I also purchased the special which was Smoked Gouda Macaroni. It was quite tasty. Service: When I walked in, the bartender (Rosemary?) was very friendly and welcoming. She was elated to help me choose my beer when I told her it was my first time at Skookum. I also received a free sticker and magnet! After I sat down, I was checked on multiple times. The staff went well beyond most places on checking up on me. They even took time conversing. Atmosphere: It is a very cool looking joint. Service dogs are allowed and minors are not. There's plenty of seating as well as outdoor seating. They raise the large garage type door open when the weather permits. Music is played via satellite. Would love if they had live bands. They also take debit/credit cards as well as cash. All in all...this place is great! Can't wait to go back. You will enjoy it too! read more

Really awesome place to bring your dog to. they normally have some sort of food truck and you can stay outside or even bring your pup inside. I'm gluten-free and I always have a yummy cider my husband likes her ipas. They keep it really clean. One of my favorite local breweries and their new location is beautiful!!! They even serve food now. However, they are strict on their hours and last calls unless you have some power play. Skookum has a large selection of craft beers from hop-forward brews to pitch black flavorful malty beers. I have never seen a larger selection of dark brews. We had a 5 beer flight and couldn't try all the dark deliciousness. Lots of barrel aged beer with promises of more in the works. My new favorite spot. read more

EXACT SAME THING happened today. 4pm, not crowded, 4 people jacking their jaws behind the bar and not one of them in 5min asked me if I wanted a beer.
