Hang on hell with my son on Thanksgiving Eve we're going to get something to eat and we flip a coin and we're end up here to see what's going on. I just ordered the carne asada and my son the garlic chicken pizza let's say the place is pretty cool I like the tables a lot of TVs you know yeah you can watch sports from everywhere and I think we came at the right time because now everybody's coming in this place. I wasn't super hungry, and actually had decided to just get a frozen Mac and cheese from Safeway. But my efforts to map to the grocery store failed, which I realized when I saw the sign. I opted to just get a Mac n cheese to go. I enjoyed a generous pour of Old Forester. Back at my hotel I reheated the Mac and cheese. Wow! That was amazing! If your looking for a good local drink spot that has some darts and can socially drink at, this is a solid spot. I enjoyed this place a lot until then he paired the menu down a lot then even more after the remodel. He did a great job with it all and upgraded a lot of things, but I went for the food before. The pizza was amazing! The space was fine and clean from what I could tell. It is a dark bar. The only reason for the lower stars is for the bartender/server kept pushing alcohol and when we asked for OJ he said again with alcohol and after we were like no we're not drinking today we didn't even get the OJ. The service got better as we killed him with kindness as he probably isn't used to non drinkers there. We came for the pizza and absolutely loved it. read more

We were in town for some shopping and did not want to go to a chain spot. We yelped and saw this was about a mile away from the outlets and jetted over. We walked in and were a little nervous with how empty it was but for about 4 dudes at the bar. We sat down and decided what the hey, the bartender came over and took our drink order and brought back menus. We ordered and got our food fairly quickly. Can I just say kudos for keeping the condiments in the fridge? More restaurants need to take note here. Our burgers and tots were hot! When I say they were hot, that thing was still steaming after I inhaled half the juicy goodness that it was. The server was friendly and checked in on us several times as more people started filtering in a filling tables. The bartenders tonight were incorrigible, and exactly what my wife needed to blow off some steam. They've helped salvage what was a pretty crummy day for her. Home plate is your local sports bar. It has indoor seating only. The staff is really cool, and the food is good. It's a family like atmosphere inside and especially during Seahawks games. So expect on Saturdays and Sundays for it to be busy so get there early. Again, the staff is great and the drinks are reasonably priced. read more

My wife and I stopped into Home Plate for lunch and a couple beers after doing a bit of shopping at Cabela's. Free parking can be found in the parking lot. Discover is an accepted form of payment. Tabs left open overnight will have a 30% gratuity automatically added to their tab. Home Plate is 21+ only. Happy Hour is offered Monday-Thursday from 3pm-6pm then again from 10pm-midnight. Home Plate offers a full bar, darts, TV's, pull tabs and karaoke. There are a few tables that would accommodate large groups. My wife and I slurped on a couple Irish Death's for $6.50 each and a couple Interurban IPA's for $6.00 each while playing some pull tabs. We shared the Combination Pizza (10") for $13.50: Canadian bacon, pepperoni, sausage, onion, olives and mushrooms. Served with a side of shredded Parmesan cheese and red pepper flakes. The crust was thin and crispy. The toppings were well proportioned. The pizza was served piping hot. We were both happy with our lunch choice. Service was friendly and efficient. My wife ordered the BLTA and she really liked it - lots of avocado on it. If we're ever in Marysville again we would definitely stop by for a bite to eat. We go there a few times a month. We love Shawn, of course we love the other bartenders as well! It takes a while to get his humor but I think we got it down pack lol. The Garlic pizza, street tacos and cheesy tots with aioli are my faves! I love the drinks and losing to darts with my friends. The music is good and we have the app to pick songs! We just started going to trivia night and are terrible but enjoy the crowd. Service has always been awesome and if it isn't as great (meaning they are busy) they always communicate and apologize! My wife and I had visited this place pre-Covid. It's an entirely different place. It was elevated from a standard Marysville Sports Bar to the 'Gastro Pub' that fits the new rebranding. The decor and bathrooms are updated with a fresh makeover. However, it has managed to maintain the vibe of a hometown bar with stiff drinks, great service, and great prices. My wife and I spent a few hours here enjoying the company of a very real bartender of 20 years at the place, Shawn, and another super friendly burly bartender, Bird. I'd highly recommend this place over the sterile industrial places you'd typically find that are rebranded as a 'gastropub' or otherwise overpriced, spiritless bars. I guess your ideal situation might be unending, undeserved good reviews continually blowing sunshine up your backside. I'm not one of those writers. You'll get the real deal from me. I've got no problem with you or your clientele. In fact, I love great dive bars! I have a problem when people try to portray their business as better or trendy or superior in some way, when it's obviously not, and expect me to agree and pay more. In short: business owners that treat me like I'm a sucker, not a customer. If you have a great dive, own it, love it, but don't try to tell me you offer exceptional food and expect me to just nod along when it's just average greasy pub grub. It's insulting. With respect, I suggest you go whole-hog. Frickin' BE a gastro-pub! Go to a few, for research. They really DO exist. This place is local to me. Back in the day this was one of the few, non-fast food options, when I was working late. I may not be a "regular" but I still stop by now and then. Since I first discovered this place almost 15 years ago) I've traveled all over the US and been to a whole lot of places. Although my frame of reference is a lot broader now, my opinion hasn't changed: Homeplate Pub is a good spot to drop by for a drink or some quality food. The beer selection is good. The selection of bourbon, whiskeys, tequila etc is really good; better than other local places for sure. Better yet, the food. Everything is made in house and everything is good. Personal favorites: the carne asada pizza, Angus sliders, pork sliders and the BLTA. I don't order the burger often as I used to, but I agree with other reviewers: this is the best burger in town. The staff is pretty nice and they stay pretty busy. The cooks are actual professionals. That shows not only in the quality of the food but just as importantly the quality of its preparation. I've never been disappointed with the food. Places like this, the experience you have depends a lot on what you bring with you. Show up looking for something to pick at, you might just find it. The only food that looks appetizing on the menu is their pizza. We got tacos and their potato wedges which were both very dry. They don't give you salsa for the tacos, which would have made the tacos easier to eat. The food is kind of expensive for the portions you receive. Three mini carne asada tacos for $9.25 and 10 potato wedges for $8.75. Their house made ranch is the color of cesar dressing. Also, on weekends they run out of ingredients towards 11p-12a, so they only have a limited menu. read more

A group of us went here after playing pickleball at Volli next door. Our friend group is LGBTQ+ which includes a couple "butch-looking" women. As soon as we entered, it was obvious that our server and the customers at the bar were not interested in us being there. First, we were uncomfortably stared at for an exaggerated amount of time. After not being served for some time after sitting, we eventually got the server's attention to order drinks. We also asked if they served food, to which he replied "yes," but then didn't provide any menus or information. His attitude and lack of attention spoke volumes about how he felt about us. I have NEVER felt so purposefully neglected and mistreated. It got to the point where we just got up and left, but because we are courteous individuals, notified the bartender before he started pouring our beers.
