One of the bartender's first comments back, completely seriously, was, "I'm from San Diego. Have you never seen art before?" Honestly... what? It was such a weird, unnecessarily condescending response. I brushed it off at first as awkward banter, but it was a really strange first impression. The drinks were decent. The Loverlist was really good, and the Unicorn Fluff and Old Fashioned were fine. The bartender was quick to talk up their whiskey selection, but when we asked for a recommendation, she mostly gave reasons why she couldn't recommend anything and just kept saying they had "over 90 different options." Without a whiskey menu to look through, that wasn't especially helpful. We also asked for a shooter and were offered half of a cocktail instead. That would've been totally fine on its own, but combined with everything else, the service just never felt welcoming. We ended up leaving pretty quickly. I'd give the place another shot because the atmosphere is fun and has a lot of potential, but hopefully with a different bartender behind the bar.

(The only salad dressing they had was ranch.) The food was good but pricy; my bill came to $27.41 including tax and tip, and that was without any drink, appetizer or dessert.

I was horribly disssapointed in the lack of professionalism that I saw when visiting Sky Bar. I was there during the day on Friday November 28th and was greeting by a young male bartender. Once I started to order my drink I realized he was heavily intoxicated. He was slurring his words and stumbling. He made my drink wrong and I saw him spill a drink on another lady the order after I did. He was also very obnoxious. He sat at the end of the bar on his phone the entire time we were there, my husband had to go get his attention to get a drink and he acted like we were an inconvience. My husband didnt even wanna order anymore because of that. A guy playing pool had his mask down and the bartender yelled so loudly "put your f**king mask on or get the f**k out" from across the bar I could not believe it. It was such a horrible portrayal of what sky bar is. It looked beautiful, much cleaner and beautiful art and alot more organized then the last time we came but the bartender was awful, I will never come back when he's working if I do at ALL because of him. You guys need to do better!!! read more

I would not recommend singing Karaoke there. The employee running it screwed up on one of my songs (no volume). He was not at his station at the transition. When he got back, he merely turned on the volume, rather than starting the song from the beginning. I stopped by the next night to give a manager the head's up. When I asked a bartender (Sam) for the general manager's contact info, I ran into attitude. Sam didn't like that the matter was for managerial ears only. He felt entitled. Even though I had specified the GENERAL manager, Sam told me that he needed to know whether I wanted to make a suggestion on karaoke or complain about a karaoke employee (there being only one) in order to know which manager to send me to. Incredible. I asked for the emails of both managers (not taking the bait), but he gave me only one, saying "I'm not going to elaborate" and dismissing me. Nice. Don't give Skybar your business; there are other bars with employees who respect customers. read more

In happy news, I did hear from Sky Bar when I made comments on their FB page (not a good review, their service was awful) BUT they did acknowledge receipt of my --hopefully constructive-- message and invited me to come again. I do think that companies that respond to customers in this way deserve positive recognition for their willingness to communicate and improve. We will give Sky Bar another shot over the holidays, hopefully, we will be giving a great review and adding this close bar to our neighborhood favorites. read more

I've never had coffee/breakfast, just drinks. I love that you can order Pizza, fire dancers are entertaining, open-mic night is okay until you have comedians cussing out hecklers into the microphone at full volume. Bartenders are sort of rude and make pretty weak drinks, so I only go during happy hour. It's a cool place to hang out on the patio and meet people or talk with friends, but it's nothing special. It's also fun to watch people drive the wrong way out of the parking lot (off the curb onto 4th ave... wtf). read more

I don't really drink alcohol, but usually once a week I'll come in and get some fresh ginger ale, shoot a few games of pool and hang with a couple of regulars. It has a nice open floor plan, some decent art on the open walls and staff are always ready to serve you great drinks. I do like that they have weekly events like open mic, of course the awesome telescopes and trivia night. I give it 4 stars, would be 5, if I were more into getting tipsy :) read more

Good bar but it's a little open and "echo-y." The fact that they serve Absinth is definitely a plus though! The echo-iness really only becomes an issue when a band is playing because the sound gets a little muddy unless you're situated just right. That being said, it's nice that you can order food from Brooklyn (same owners?) and even if you miss Brooklyn's official hours, they keep the slice window open late. read more

Good feel, you can get pizza brought to you from the Brooklyn Pizza Company, and they have a good beer/drink selection. Sometimes they have fire dancers and telescopes there, which makes this place a little unique. Plus, what other bars in town on completely powered by solar panels? Props for that. read more

We Stopped in on a Sunday afternoon. Only two other customers in the place before we got there. A band called Bassanova was playing on the stage. They actually sounded pretty good. We asked the girl bartending if they always had bands on Sunday afternoons and she explained that they practiced there. They were actually a plus. The beer selection and prices are decent and it''s cool and dark inside which we were looking for on a hot June afternoon. Now for the not so great and reason for the two stars. The girl bartending who was only two feet away from us was more interested in her vape pin and her phone than the few customers in there bar. Even when we waited for breaks in the music to ask for another beer we had to ask twice to get her attention. My BF's second glass of beer had a chip on the rim of the glass and he nicked his lip. When he pointed out that the glass was chipped she didn't even acknowledge he said anything. He turned it to another side and just finished his beer. When she picked up his empty glass he again mentioned the broken glass and she jokingly said "Well why'd you break it?" She then came over and thoroughly inspected the glass before finally throwing it in the garbage without even an I'm sorry or any other comment even when he mentioned that it nicked his lip . The final insult though was when we when we were on our second beer, my BF asked if nobody was watching the TV, which was showing the movie Back to the Future IIit could be switched to some type of sports. After unsuccessfully finding a baseball game he chose horse racing, which he actually likes. After about 15 minutes another customer who seems like he comes in regularly came in and after a few minutes of taking to the bartender he must have mentioned something about the tv because she handed him the remote and without even asking if anyone was watching (which she knew we were) he changed the TV to a Big 3 basketball type game. My BF asked across the bar if we could at least watch one horse race before he changed the channel but either he didn't understand what he meant or didn't care that we were watching it. And to add insult to injury, he didn't even watch it, he just turned away from the TV and carried on a conversation with the bartender.

If you can bear the consistently loud environment, the small menu carries some hearty bar food. I highly recommend the pulled pork sandwich, but the wings are solidly above average. If you want to dine while enjoying some entertainment in a welcoming, unpretentious environment, you can't overlook Big Bad Wolf. I hope it sticks around!
