    Top Hat and Penicillin

We came here on Saturday night and tried 2 drinks on their cocktail list. The top hat and the Penicillin. We disliked both. They were nice and traded them. I got a Tom Collins and he got a beer next. The Tom Collins was not good either. I would say to come here for the cool space, fun game room with board games, live music and just order a beer or hard seltzer.

Fun atmosphere! They have a Dj and plays great music. I had their whiskey & soda water cocktail. MY favorite!

    Never had better service.

My roomate and I have tried almost every expresso martini in Tucson & Manny makes the best one. MANNY IS the BEST BAR TENDER INCREDIBLE SERVICE!! Highly recommend.

Before COVID-19 was even a "thing", I had visited The Royal Room a couple of times and liked it. The interior is very funky, kind of retro and eclectic. It's dimly lit inside which sets a mood. The cocktails I had were always unique... I remember one that had a component with jasmine in it which I absolutely loved. Overall, I enjoyed coming here for craft cocktails and to chat with friends in a low key but fun setting. After COVID-19, The Royal Room was one of the first places I found that was serving cocktails to go. Though I had only been a handful of times, I decided to give them a shot. To be honest I'm glad I did because The Royal Room has quickly become one of my favorite bars in town!! Their in-house margaritas are some of the best in town. No overly sweet syrups or cheap tequila, just a perfect Marg with a punch!!! Their floradoras also quickly became a favorite in my home, with it's sweet but tart flavor. Royal Room also sells some food, though I've never tried it. Another reason I became such a fan of the Royal Room post-pandemic was because of how supportive they are of their local community. They are outspoken on issues that matter to me and are always promoting other businesses in the area. Though they are not on 4th avenue, having that community spirit is what makes the 4th avenue area so special to Tucson. The Royal Room fits right in. I'm looking forward to the day I can have a seat inside the bar and sip on a new drink. The Royal Room deserves high praises

    At the bar. Royal Room.

This is a nice local bar for good priced beers and cocktails. Sometimes there are themed nights with a DJ music. Other times its just random streaming TV. They have a nice vibe there for a cool night out. Very limited on food options but decent snacks for sure.

Went here on the recommendation of a friend because of their meat and cheese board (I'm a sucker for charcuterie). Mistake one was coming on trivia night (don't get me wrong, I love a good trivia night, but that wasn't the vibe we were going for that night). I was disappointed to find (unlike I was expecting) you could get a meat board, or a cheese board, but had no control over what was on them, and if you wanted meat and cheese you had to order two boards! It was fine, but since we weren't playing trivia, we were relegated to the side room. The wine and beer selection looked good, but didn't partake. I've heard from friends who have been back, that they may have done away with the charcuterie altogether.

Great bar with a local atmosphere. A locals place to go for a nice cup of wine and some great selection on craft beers. Prices are reasonable and they always have specials. Beers as low as $2 and wines selections as low a $5. Cheese boards are fantastic. Fresh and full of flavor. They have several selections to choose from and no matter the choice you will be happy with it. They also have a couple of panini sandwiches that go great with the beverage of your choice. A definite place for a nice date night or if you want to hang with friends. The also have a nice board game selection that will keep you entertained for hours. Staff is fun and they have a great music selection always playing.

I love the Royal Room and have only grown to appreciate it more since the pandemic started. This is one of only a very few places that I consider safe to enjoy indoors. The owner has strict seating arrangements and everything is very clean. Aside from that it is a comfortable place to hang out at and even better their drinks are awesome! They have a few rotating beers on tap and a large fridge of a wide variety of canned beers. They also change up their cocktail menu but I tend to stick to their old fashioned because it's so good. Easily one of my favorite bars in the downtown area.

I came here on the recommendation of a friend, and it did not disappoint. Has a great vibe and atmosphere. They had some great wines on tap. This place has some fun decor as well. I have heard the food is good there but I haven't had the pleasure of trying it. Update: came here again on a Saturday afternoon and ate; the food was quite tasty. We had the meat/cheese board and it's reasonably priced and high quality. We also had the Italian sandwich and I loved the bread. It came with well seasoned Italian meats and flavorful mozzarella. This is a great option for a light dinner/happy hour. None of the food was too heavy. Good portions too.

I'm not sure if it's fair to write a review since they don't even officially open until tomorrow... but the other night when I was walking past this corner I noticed people were inside so I thought maybe they quietly opened and didn't tell anyone. My husband and I walked in the door to a packed house with a great vibe. We headed for the bar and were greeted promptly, and told it was their soft opening (friends and family night). We apologized for just walking in and asked if it was ok to stay, and the wonderful bartender laughed and said OF COURSE we can stay! We ordered some wine and took a look around. The space is BEAUTIFUL. Royal, but not pretentious or over-gilded. The drink selection looks great, and not overwhelming. The food menu is small and carefully thought-out: sandwiches and bruschetta. Lighter eats for when you want to drink and graze. Overall I am excited to stop back in after they open up this week. This will be a wonderful space for relaxing and enjoying time with friends.

Folks behind the counter are very friendly. The only thing I noticed is they seem to struggle with a really clunky point of sale system. There were many looks and gasps of bewilderment from the two folks trying to ring up orders. This significantly slowed down the long line. They have weird policies around adding chicken to the Bobbi salad. It literally makes no sense to charge $3.50 to add chicken to that salad when it costs $2.99 to add it to any other salad. It's the same amount of chicken, according to the folks behind the counter, but they have to do what the clunky point of sale system tells them to do. Otherwise the food is good and it's a decent spot to grab a note to eat. I recommend the bullrider wrap. Don't add chicken to your Bobbi salad. Mayhem.

This place is located in an artsy / entertainment district close to downtown. When we went, there was road construction nearby that made getting here more challenging. Once we located it, the next challenge was parking. We visited around noon on a Saturday. There are no large parking lots, so you have to find something on-street. We ventured a couple of blocks off the main street and found something. However, the signage wasn't really clear on whether you had to pay on weekends or not. We accessed the parking app via a QR code, but it told us that our space 'was not available', despite the fact that we were in the space. A guy leaving the space next to us confirmed that parking *was* free on weekends, so we trusted that and walked to the restaurant. In retrospect, I think the app meant that we did not need to pay, but 'not available' seems a bit vague for that... The restaurant is located on a strip of old storefronts that now house restaurants, record shops, etc. There was a lot of pedestrian traffic out front, including a homeless guy asking for change. The atmosphere was sort of a loud, slightly cramped dive bar. I don't mean that in a bad way, but that was the vibe. The music was loud - none of it was familiar but I didn't hate it. I guess my point is that if you are looking for a quiet spot for lunch, this is probably not it. We initially were offered a table on their covered patio. We left one person there while sorting out parking, but when we came back they had a booth inside so we grabbed that instead. The patio seemed shaded and semi-comfortable, other than a loud barking dog. We browsed the menus and ordered our food. We all got half-and-half combos (soup/salad or sandwich/soup). The only issue was that the soups came in a bread bowl. I was able to finish my soup, but felt bad about not eating more of the bowl. If I'd had the option, I would have gotten a plastic bowl. The salad was pretty big, despite being only half. I finished most of it. We ended up having sufficient leftovers from others such that we took them back to our hotel (a relatively short drive) and finished them the next evening. All the food was tasty. This wasn't what I was expecting, but I'd consider eating here again given the right circumstances / group.

When first entering it's a very small booths and bar but if you continue down the hall past the bathrooms they have a big open outside/indoor patio seating area! Great if you have kids or pets with you So the food. Honestly some of the best sandwiches I've ever had Their combo with the bread bowl and half a sandwich is hard to beat to be honest. A little bit of both worlds there I recommend eating the bread bowl first because it's more filling that you think and you can take the sandwich home They have a wide range of options for everyone And even offer a picky kid friendly sandwiches like PB & J, might sound boring or normal but that was the best PB & J I've ever had The staff is very nice and helpful They run the bar also and will bounce between the bar and your table So if the bar is busy I'm sure it could take a bit for you to order at your table Great food Great environment And friendly people Highly recommended!

I ordered the impala with 2 patties and tried the Tucson beefsteak too. Food: (3.5/5) The impala burger comes with 1 patty normally but I added another for $6.95. The patties were apparently made of 70/30 grass-fed ground beef with shiitake mushrooms. They were very juicy, tender, and flavorful. These patties were also cooked perfectly with crispy edges and a juicy center. The impala burger also came with bbq sauce and crispy onions. Besides the patty, the rest of the burger was pretty standard. However, the fries were horrible. They came lukewarm while the burger was served hot, and the fries had no texture. They were soggy and chewy, like frozen fries that were microwaved for 15 seconds. The Tucson beefsteak was quite nice, and the meat was juicy and the dip it came with made it even more juicy. The mini chimis banderas were very mediocre. They had a severe lack of flavor. It just tasted like fried dough. Service: (N/A) The restaurant is mostly self serve except that they bring you the food. This means you get up and get the water and place the order yourself. They also don't charge gratuity or tip. Ambiance: (5/5) The interior was decorated and music was playing. The place just has a nice vibe to it. When I came, it wasn't very busy or loud. Overall I would recommend this place for the vibe and because the burger patties are so good and the Tucson beefsteak is so juicy, but just be aware that the fries can be pretty bad.

Someone asked my name, I called it out, and they rang up the bag. I decided to just sit down for 5 minutes and enjoy the sandwich fresh since I had requested that it be toasted (they will now toast any sandwich - a game changer!) But the sandwich I opened was cold. I went back and said, hey, I'm super easy going, I was just wondering if you guys could still toast this? Fernando came over and was super apologetic. He then asked to see the receipt to troubleshoot the oversight and, lo and behold, different name, not the bootlegger, and not toasted. Wrong Bag! He promptly had my sandwich made (which apparently never came through on the app). At the same time the person whose bag I had paid for called in and said he had ordered his sub to the wrong location! Fernando was terrific about fixing everything. And, yes, the bootlegger toasted (with added crispy onions and cucumbers and no mayo) was ready lightening fast and terrific. The venue is hard to park at but the tables are typically clean and the fountain drinks are easy to access.
