We were in town this past weekend and decided to give this place a try. Great food, atmosphere and fantastic service with super nice employes. If you are ever in Stanton, this is great place to eat. Down to earth 10/10 definitely recommend! We had the Chicken Philly w/ Pepper & Onions was amazing along with a side of potato salad. We enjoyed the Pecan Pie for dessert.

My family and I had dinner here this evening and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Clean plates all around except for me but I took my leftovers to go and look very forward to enjoying them later. Fantastic service. No frills, hole in the wall kinda place but delicious country style food. Breakfast served all day and delicious homemade pies on the menu. I so wish I had some pics to share but I just dove right in to my chicken with mashed potatoes and white gravy with greens beans and a refreshing side salad. My entire meal was $11. Left full and happy.

Manhattan sandwich, fried okra, and fried banana peppers!

This place gets my vote for the most authentic, friendly, country restaurant! I had a Manhattan sandwich, which I'd never heard of before...to this Nebraskan, it looked like a hot beef sandwich...and it was one of the best I've ever had. The fried okra and fried banana peppers were good. They have a dessert called the pretzel salad, the recipe of which apparently is a well kept secret. All I know is it had pretzels, cream cheese, whipped cream, and strawberries in a glaze. Don't miss it if they have it when you are here. Lastly, the price was perhaps the lowest we've paid for lunch on our entire trip!

Manhattan is the best! If I didn't know better I would think my granny is in the back cooking. Definitely stop here and grab a bite.

Biscuit & gravy (homemade...yum!) with bacon, scrambled eggs with cheese, and home fries (deep fried)...all delicious!

My husband and I both ordered one. He also got regular fries and I did the sweet potato. The service staff was kind and helpful. I loved the way the restaurant was set up with indoor or outdoor seating. It was clean and fresh. The fries were great. The beer my husband order was nice and cold and refreshing. But the burgers, the main part of this meal...we each did a double.....someone doesn't know how to cook smash burgers. They were cooked so hard and dried out. They had flavor but they were so salty and this says a lot. I use a lot of natural salt in my diet every day; this was overkill. But on top of my burger being cooked past well done, the salt put the nail in the coffin. I was really disappointed. A nice juicy smash burger sounded so good, and it wasn't. When ya spend almost $60 for 2 double grass fed beef hamburger and fries and one beer...we expect a better meal. Maybe it was an off day for the cook or maybe this is how they are done all the time. We weren't asked how we wanted them done, which is kind of hard with smash burgers. You need to know how to cook them. If I was to give it a "next time" I'd mention to them how I cook want my meat done. There's a lot of good reviews. Maybe it was just an off day. So consider yourself forewarned if you're looking for a juicy burger.

What has happened to this restaurant?…read more This used to be our favorite steakhouse to visit, and we would drive a good distance to get here. The service has been on a steady decline for about a year, and our most recent visit was the most disappointing so far. The rolls were overbaked and dry, and they came out dark brown with no shine from butter on top. We didn't even finish the basket, and the small plates had uneaten rolls. The salad bar was stocked and clean, but the ranch dressing was watered down, and some items, like the chickpeas, looked a little off. The service was the biggest issue. Our server was surprisingly disrespectful. I wanted a small portion with no leftovers and planned to order a kid's meal, since there is an option to eat as an adult meal for an additional three dollars which would be a good addition to the $9.99 salad bar which usually leaves me too full for a regular entree. Instead of simply taking the order, I was given a lecture about how there was no point in "gaming the system" because I would end up spending just as much for less food. I even explained that I wanted to pay the extra charge and was not trying to avoid anything. The rest of our table ordered ribs and ribeyes, so we were not exactly trying to cut corners. It felt more like she wanted to push us into ordering more for the sake of a larger tip, especially since we were also pressured to order appetizers and desserts. Because of the awkward experience, we ordered less and tipped less than usual. The manager did stop by our table, but when we gave a lukewarm response, he did not seem very interested. We are people who never complain, ever, but eating out is expensive, and there is a basic level of service and quality we expect for the money spent. Between the rolls, the service, and the fact that this is not our first disappointing visit in recent weeks, we will not be returning until we hear that things have improved. (To add perspective, we ate at a different steakhouse the day before which was very slow due to new hires being trained, but we had no complaints whatsoever because the staff was friendly and the food was delicious.)

These folks are trying to play at being a real restaurant when all they're really doing is robbing people blind with sub par food and service. One person covering 5 (yes, 5 WHOLE tables). Even on an incredibly slow night service was awful. I don't know about anybody else out there, but I don't have $200 to throw away on BS restaurants. Especially disappointing on your anniversary. It's one reason I don't go out for breakfast ~ I can make a pretty good breakfast at home. No use paying someone to do something I can do. So, going into Jackson's restaurant, a mom and pop restaurant specializing in home cooked style food, I had my doubts. Walking up to what resembled a school cafeteria lunch line only furthered my doubts. And, seeing the sheer number of different options sitting out behind the glass window only furthered my suspicions. Look, I was wrong. The food here is really good. The service is super friendly and helpful. I was so overwhelmed by all the choices I just told the lady behind the glass counter to pick me something. She obliged with a kindness that made me think she knew me somehow. She chose the chicken and dumplings, beef stew, apples, and two different types of corn bread. Now, I thought initially, and she even admitted, that the chicken and dumplings/beef stew mix was a little unorthodox, but that they were both so good I had to try them. Both were fantastic. The apples were awesome. I liked both types of corn bread. When I got up to leave, she called me over to the counter and said that since it was my first time there, I'd get a free dessert. You all, I was too full to even try. The food here is both tasty and filling. I was in Richmond for a conference at Eastern Kentucky University. So it was really convenient to stop by. But I'd say that even if you're remotely close, it's worth a visit. Don't, as I did, judge a book by its cover.

The pizza was surprisingly decent, and I have to say it arrived at lightning speed. When I say it was ready in minutes, I mean MINUTES. If there had been a stopwatch involved, I suspect the pizza would have won. The highlight of the visit was Anthony, who was tending bar. He was an absolute gem. Friendly, engaging, and genuinely enjoyable to talk with. The conversation alone made the stop worthwhile, and I would gladly come back just to sit at the bar and chat with him again. The sweet tea was fantastic, which, from what I've learned while visiting Kentucky, is a fairly serious category of competition. For dessert, I had a warm cinnamon pretzel topped with ice cream, and it was outstanding. If you're debating whether to order dessert, stop debating and just do it. One thing I've noticed about restaurants in Kentucky is that they appear to believe air conditioning is both a utility and a competitive sport. If you're visiting from out of town, consider bringing a sweater or dressing in layers. The dining room was cool enough that I briefly wondered whether I should have ordered hot chocolate. Will I be back? Maybe. If I return, I'll probably do the sensible thing and try one of the burgers that everyone keeps raving about. Until then, Fat Patty's gets credit for great service, excellent sweet tea, a fantastic dessert, and for reminding me that sometimes the best part of a meal is the people you meet along the way.
