I'm so glad our travels led us here! This retro restaurant was full of friendly service and delicious old school food. We didn't have time to spring for desserts and homemade fries really would've made this a 5 star place. The chili dog and chili cheese fries were good. The Stromboli was good but was a bit overcooked on this occasion. We look forward to dining here again to continue trying more of their menu! read more

If you're from Cincinnati, this is NOT chili LOL it's hot dog sauce or something... SO sweet I couldn't eat it. I love a good diner, so I did enjoy the ice cream. I ordered a burger, but the wait is so long that the fam was done eating and well I was full. Tater tots w chili and cheese was good minus the chili ..... people from eastern Ky also call this chili but .... 4 way or not it's not my taste. People were friendly. The decor was diner like, the music was a bit loud and annoying but I'm old lolol so try it. I was working in the area, and decided to try this place for lunch. Service was neither friendly nor unfriendly. I am guessing they aren't used to getting non-local customers very often. I ordered a grilled cheese sandwich and onion rings for carry out. The onion rings were excellent! Well worth stopping by here just for the onion rings. My grilled cheese sandwich had cheese and a large amount of bacon. Like 8 strips! The menu didn't mention that bacon was included on the grilled cheese, and I don't eat bacon. There was so much bacon and bacon grease on the sandwich that I couldn't just remove it and eat the grilled cheese. I would stop again for onion rings and I'd order a grilled cheese "hold the bacon." read more

The food isn't nearly what it used to be. They were actually out of hamburger, which for a fast food restaurant is kinda ridiculous. The drive through is ridiculously slow. I understand making things to order, but 30 mins in a drive through with only 4 cars in front of you is a bit much. read more

I dropped by over a weekend when my son had a baseball tournament nearby. So glad we stopped. My son went with the double cheeseburger. I highly recommend. He wolfed that thing down like there was no tomorrow. My wife got the catfish sandwich. That one, for the price, is hard to beat. It's not the best catfish sandwich I've ever had, but it's pretty darn good, and for four dollars and change, it might be the best value catfish sandwich ever. The shakes are awesome. I went with a hot fudge shake and I didn't want to share. Smooth, creamy goodness right there. I was slightly disappointed with the grilled chicken salad, but you've got to go in knowing that this ain't a salad place. They leave the salad in the fridge, and as y'all know the croutons get gross when you do that. That all being said, the salad does in a pinch, but there are other options here that these cats excel with. So I'd go with something different the next time I'm back. And I'll be back. Great place to stop on Main Street in Mt Sterling. Great burgers, catfish, fantastic shakes, and service with a smile. It's a definite don't miss when you're in town. read more

They have the best tasting onion rings! I love them! The line to order can be quite long but it moves quickly and they are always friendly.

We love going here. It's drive thru only but is a nice treat. The food is fresh and the cheeseburgers are delicious. Would recommend the loaded twists fries (I think that's what they called them) they were delicious. My only gripe is that a lot of their items aren't on the menu. read more

Almost every town has there own iconic non-francise restaurant. I am a sucker for the historic 1950's ice cream and burger joint. I have sought them out from St.Pete Forida to Huntington WV to all points across Kentucky. I love them. They go so well with my 1957 Chevy. With Covid you can not get into the Dining Room at present. However, the drive thru is open and in full force. When I arrived the drive thru was totally filled it went from the road , wrapping around the building and over to the other side of the building. I drove around town for a while and the hour or so I was in town the line never let up. Apparently, the locals like the place. I was surprised when I got in the line. I expected it to take for ever but surprisingly the crew working got everyone thru the line quickly. I ordered tater tots, onion rings and a chili bun. The food did not disappoint. The tots where good with ketchup and salt, the onion rings were crispy on the outside with a good onion flavor on the inside. And the chili bun, had the most wonderful smell. Just skip the calories of the hot dog and get straight to the bun and chili. You can ask for toppings on the chili bun but I did not think to order them. Next time mustard, onions and relish on the chili bun. If you are in Mt.Sterling stop by and get yourself some drive thru nostalgia. It will be worth the drive. read more

All I've heard from my wife is about this hole in the wall local joint with chili things. So here we go.... Yes Berryman's has chili... and they put it on everything. Is it good... I guess. Is it worth the drive... no. If you are over there it's worth it instead of fast food. I didn't think much of it. Frankly... it's flat top burgers, boiled hot dogs, fried everything else with most of it offered under a scoop of hot dog chili. Is there better places... yes. Is it worth a stop... yes once. Never really eat at Berryman's even though I work and live in the area. Part of the appeal of the place is that it's been in business for a long time and a lot of people have grown up with Berryman's. I just had a lunch "special" that ended up costing me close to $10.00. I was charged state and county taxes which I never see any other restaurants do. And the lunch special didn't include a drink. So I had to spend extra on that. The cashier didn't even ask me if I wanted a drink so I assumed that it came with it. It was pretty busy but not overwhelming at lunch but I decided to walk in and eat. Staff didn't seem friendly and I got a good look at their backs while I was waiting for someone to take my orders. I was the only one in line and waited around 4-5 minutes for someone to finally ask if I had been waited on. Overall I think this place is a little overrated and a little overpriced. read more

One of the hometown staples of Montgomery County. Recently visited and always have good food and service. Few things that could be worked on is the wait time in the drive thru is usually longer than it needs to be. Sometimes 10mins at a time. Idk if everything is cooked to order or if something are pre prepared. But other than that is pricing, but I don't mind because I mean you get what you pay for. If you don't like good food there is always McDonalds lol. Today I ordered a double cheeseburger deluxe and a side of broccoli bites with ranch and for my wife a chicken club deluxe with bacon and 2 ale8s. Total was $18 and some change. Overall a good deal and I recommend if you want a place that's on the quiet side with a good family atmosphere. Plus their chili dogs are fantastic. Will visit again in time. read more

This home grown family restaurant is known for its legendary chili dogs, and I am a fan. This little restaurant serves burgers and hotdogs and all that good old American food. It's a good place to eat with your kids and pets (they have outside seating if you have a dog such as I, no pets inside I assume). They have a drive thru so if you're in a hurry this is a great place to get some grub. I like this establishment just fine, it's not my favorite place but it's does the job (filling up my stomach). Oh and the chilly dogs? I will have to say they're the best chili dogs I have ever had. The prices are great too! If you're stopping at Mount Sterling for court day definitely take a break at Berryman's. read more

Berryman's has been around forever in Mt Sterling. I use to remember as a kid going here and getting a chili dog and hand made shake. They are locally owned and they are a part of Mt Sterling history and a big name in the community. You will find memorable all over the walls here from Montgomery Countys past. Stepping into here is like stepping back into time. I don't think i have ever received bad food or bad service here in their long time running. They will always greet you with a smile and brighten your day. Their food is made to order and served fast and hot. The Berryman's chili is their huge claim to fame. Ask anyone in town and they will tell you it is a must have staple. The Berryman's chili recipe is a well kept secret like the Bushes beans recipe, but man is it good. If you ever get into town, stop in and see a part of Mt Sterlings history and have a chili dog or a burger then remember to get a hand made milkshake to wash it down with.
