I'm in love with this nail spa right now. Normally I go to Natalie Salon in Redwood City but I wandered into Sky Nails recently and they were able to accommodate me without an appointment. Definite star for the massive collection of OPI nail polishes. I am talking every shade your heart desires. I do love Essie so I'm a little bummed they only have OPI, but the extensive selection more than makes up for that fact. I'm a manicure only kind of gal, feet are too ticklish, and their manicure is wonderful. They start by putting a warm neck roll on you which always puts me in the mood for relaxation. All of the tools are neatly sterilized and packaged. I am a stickler for perfectly short and even nails and these ladies my kind of perfectionists. A nice massage is included. However what really won me over is their attention to detail with polish. I feel like with other salons more often than not I leave with uneven polish or small corners with no polish at all. The ladies at Sky do a perfect polish. The five star rating speaks to how long the polish lasts. I've switched to darker colors for fall and can go well over a week without seeing a single chip. Meanwhile whatever top coat they use is intensely shiny and does not dull. I'm super impressed and am telling everyone I know to come to this nail spa. This place was the worst experience I have ever had getting my eyebrows done. The lady who waxed my brows didn't say anything to me at all when she walked in. She then "waxed" my eyebrows in about two minutes. She didn't go back over and pluck or redo any missed spots, and she also didn't trim at all. After she was "done" she didn't even show me what my brows looked like or ask if I was ok with them. Then i went to the front (not even knowing what my brows looked like) to pay and she asked me how much I wanted to tip. I was pretty annoyed but I said 15%. She didn't even know how much that was and asked me again so i said 15% again. She's the employee I think she should be able to do basic math. At least invest in a calculator... So then she asked me if i wanted to pay a $4 tip. Thats over 25% so I said no and settled on 3 dollars, which is actually 20% and much MUCH more than she deserved. She then looked annoyed at me that I was only giving her a 3 dollar tip on a 15 dollar service even though she barely deserved a tip at all, took my money, and didn't say anything else to me. I left extremely offended and furious. I will NEVER come back here again. She was one of the rudest employees I have ever met. Not to mention my eyebrows looked basically the same when I left. I ended up going home and plucking them myself. 18 dollars wasted. read more

I tried sky nails for the first time today. The place is super clean, they have great customer service, and an awesome selection of colors and probably the best pedicure I've had in a long time...nice neck warmer, great massage, and comfy massage chairs. So glad they are in San Carlos! read more

I had such a wonderful experience at this lovely new nail salon. Vivian and Kim are absolute sweethearts and they do wonderful Work. Aside from being very kind I received a very good mani/pedi. I had recently removed an acrylic overlay from my nails and they were in pretty bad shape; but after my manicure they look much better (not to mention healthier!) Really?! Four stars?! I was in need of a pedicure, and was far from my regular spot, so on the strength of yelp reviews for this place, stopped in for a pedicure. Yes, they were fast and took me on the spot. However, that is about the only good thing that I can say. Sanitary? Hardly. At one point, my woman reached over and took some implements from the woman who had just used them to sand down someone's feet next to mine. Quality of the pedicure? Subpar by anyone's standards. I decided to try a new nail place and was disappointed. I was given a recommendation to this place and was told to ask for Phoung (sp?) when I made an appointment which I did (no idea what she looked like). I arrived on time and was directed to a pedicure chair. The pedicure was great! She rubbed my legs/feet for what felt like 15-20 mins. The manicure not so great... The place I usually go to around the corner makes the gel nail polish not so thick at the base so when it grows out it doesn't chip so easily and peel off. My nail polish now is so thick I feel like I have fake nails on. They also spoke Vietnamese the entire time which is rude (especially when staring at my nails and then I assume making comments about them). I also don't like being rushed. Half way through the manicure I figured out I did not get the person I asked for. Maybe if I had, I would have been more satisfied and likely to return. I definitely won't return for a manicure, but might return for a pedicure. read more

This is a wonderful new nail salon in San Carlos and they are having a special. 20% off of all services for the next two months. So, for my pedicure and manicure, it was only $32.00. It is a bargain for what you get. The Salon is owned by two women. It is beautifully decorated in earth tones. Vivian, one of the owners, just did my nails and the service was wonderful. She did my nails beautifully and gave me the best massage. It is amazing how strong she is. I felt great and my nails look so nice. Only one star for a mani :( Went a few weeks ago for the deluxe pedi and it truly was deluxe, best in town. So I was very disappointed with the terrible job on my mani. My nails were cut farrrr too short and actually filed crooked :\ I agree with all the other positive reviews on it being a nice clean and customer friendly place but won't be back for a mani again. Probably should have realized that when all the pedi chairs were full and I was the only one getting a mani. Like they say, don't order pork chops at a steak restaurant! read more

My first time at Sky Nails was about a year ago. I loved how clean it was and the fact that they really took their time. My second time there was just last week was a very different experience. I developed a bruise on my hand after a very painful "massage" The woman who did my nails cut entirely too much and too quickly from the cuticle, leaving my pinky nail slightly bloody. After she was done, I noticed I could still see splotches of the clear polish I had on when I came in! My pedicure was good but between the horrible experience with the manicurist and what I paid for both treatments, I don't think I'll be returning. read more

I gave this Nail salon a couple chances...It was just like Universe Nails, given that most of the manicurist came from there....because they are always so busy they do not pay much attention to details. I asked if they could kindly not cut too much of my cuticles, because I bleed every time they cut them...and to be gentle. And what do you know, they CUT me! I would never go back again. read more

If you want a relaxing non rushed stress free manicure and pedicure do not go here. I was never asked what type of pedicure I wanted. Ended up with the basic because they needed to rush me out of there. (I would have had the deluxe if I was asked like the girl next to me ) I was done with both in 45 min and they were not done at the same time. Had come back here to try again after getting cut the last time. No more! $40 and my feet don't look much different except polish change. The only good thing is if you want to get in and out in a hurry this is your place. very nice, very clean nail salon! after moving from the south bay to the peninsula i had to find a salon to replace my salon of 3 years. after trying a few in the area from palo alto to burlingame none came close to the quality that i was used to getting from a manicure and pedi. so today my nails were in quite the state and i couldn't go another day with out help. i consulted yelp and found sky nails and i couldn't be more happy with my find!!! the salon is very light and welcoming and doesn't smell like acetone and nail polish. the ladies who work here are very nice, esp kim, and do a great job. they have like every opi color known to man too! i got the basic mani and the deluxe pedi which came with an extra long and wonderful leg and foot massage. i paid about $60 with tip and it was worth it. great salon in downtown san carlos that i plan on making my new go to for my regular mani and pedis. my nails look great, plus they got my shape right with out me having to say much of anything! read more

I come to this salon for 3 years. The service is always prompt. Mani/pedi usually takes less than an hour. The ladies whi work here are always polite, thorough and give a good massage. The price is moderate comparing to nearby places. read more

I have had a very hard time finding an exceptional nail salon. I have finally found it- Sky Nails! I have gotten three pedicures there and leave happy every time. David just did my toes and did a phenomenal job. Cindy gave me an amazing neck and shoulder massage. Highly recommend it! read more

Really like this place, but it can be a little pricey. They do a good job and the man Dave that works there always does a great job on my nails. I ask for him every time. They are always busy so you might have to wait a few minuets for a station to become free but they have lots of staff so the wait is never wrong. I normally get shelaic on my nails, and I wish they would take is off the proper way. They kind of let you nails soak in the solution but then scrape it off so your nails can become thin over over. read more

I will NEVER come back to this place again!! I had a gift certificate for $100.00 dollars & used it twice. The second time I used it was last month. After I used it expecting to have a $50.00 balance, my certificate wasn't given back to me. The manager said I had no balance left. I verified the amount with my husband & told the owner. She told me, I need to keep better track of my balance. She had no way to verify that I had $50 left. I became very upset & told her this was unacceptable & this was no way to run a business. After arguing with her for 15 minutes & she could see I was so upset she decided to reimburse me $25.00 for one of my daughter's pedicure. I left the shop very upset & then went back to asked for the receipt that show my $25.00 credit. The receipt was torn in shreds so the manager & another woman proceeded to scotch tape my receipt. I wasn't impressed by the way I was treated & how she runs a business & handled the situation. I just got my nails done for Prom here and they look amazing! The people here are super sweet

I called and they were able to take me immediately. Place was clean and all instruments were sterilized/new. Tons of OPI nail colors to choose from. I got the deluxe pedicure, and it was divine. It took over a full hour with fabulous scrub, massage, scrub, massage... great. The paint job was nice. I will have to assess further after a week, which is the true test. I loved the massage chair, hot tea and the warm neck pillow. Added a nice touch. Will definitely return. read more

All of the nail techs do a fantastic job with manicures and pedicures. They do a great job with making sure you are comfortable by asking if you want a beverage and give you a hot neck pillow. Been coming here since I found them on yelp. The place is very clean and well ventilated, so you don't sit and get high while getting your nails done. Everyone is always very nice and they offer you hot tea or water. Some nail techs are better at the massage than others, but that is to be expected. Did a leg wax last time and that went well. I used to be a fan and recommended anyone I could to Sky, my last couple of experiences have been awful. I will not be going back. The quality has gone down. it's become a chop-shop nail salon. They get you in, but also rush you out. The last time they cut me, which is ok- but how it was handled left me sceptical. I was quickly polished, with a bloody nail bed and rushed out the door. I didn't realize how badly the cut was. I thought it was odd that my toe still looked like blood had dried into the sides days later, I couldn't wash it off, and it hurt to touch- after a closer look I realized the middle of my nail bed was cut in so I had to wait until my nail grew out to get my toes done again (not by anyone at Sky). I won't be back- and I tell everyone about this last experience. I overlooked the warning signs in previous visit- I should have avoided going back then. The owner and staff (except for the guy) was always pleasant, too bad the quality dimished. read more

I made reservations for 10 women on a Saturday afternoon, and through repeated call-backs and modifications to the reservations, they were always friendly and helpful. When we arrived, the place was set up and ready to go for us, and we were taken in with both great efficiency and a warm welcome. Everyone's nails turned out great, too. After making a last minute appointment with Sky, I was pleased that they were able to get me in on such late notice. The service want all too bad, and they quickly rushed me to a chair. The staff was very friendly, but completely rushed my mani/pedi. The woman doing my shellac for my nails died the tip of my fingers with the nail polish and didn't bother to take it off and let it dry. Rather than fix it after, she proceeded to tell me that I could wash my hands later and take it off. Although I was bummed about my nails, I thought my toes were turning out well. When she was done, rather than let them dry, she forced me to get up and rushed me to pay. I got in my car and noticed that all of them were wrongly and wet and had not dried properly at all. I went back inside and told them that they needed to be fixed. I was very happy that a woman immediately agreed to start redoing it, but she tried getting away with only fixing one. With a DIFFERENT COLOR than my other foot. Thankfully I caught her and told her she needed to fix both of them, but I still had a different color than I originally had I will never again return to sky nails and feel that they completely rushed my service. read more

Realized my first review was almost six years ago and I'm still going in about every 2-3 weeks to get my nails done and get pampered with amazing pedicures. Everyone in the salon is so friendly and no matter how busy they may be, they don't show any stress. The salon is clean, gets updated with new and improved furniture and has a great selection of product and high standards. I love Sky Nails! Everyone there is super-friendly and the service is great. They'll place a warm wrap on your neck, bring you tea or water, and give you a full pampering treatment. I usually just get acrylic fills and yet they'll consistently work on me for about an hour. I feel spoiled every time I go to Sky. I have also had the pedicure and it's at least an hour of pampering and massaging. I think this is a wonderful place for a lovely get-away and would highly recommend it to anyone that wants great value for the price. read more

Just fabulous!! Very, very clean and great customer service. They go the extra mile. Brought my 6 year old daughter and took great care of her and even painted flowers on her thumbs and big toes. This is a follow-up review from my initial visit to Sky Nail's on the 8th of January. Please read to the very end of this review!! I revisited (of course, based on my first experience which was fabulous!!) the salon to have my gel nails filled and that very evening my nails started to lift. The next few days they were looking quite horrible. The following week I called the salon (which was when I had the time to go back in) and told them what was happening with my nails and they said come in right away, so I did. I have long been a fan of customer service, which any business can seem to provide when things are going well. It's when there's a hiccup that the true measure of customer service comes into play. Not only did Sky Nails repair my nails but they didn't charge me for the follow up work either! In all the years that I've been having my nails done at various nail salons whenever there was a issue such as this I was not only charged for the repair but, made to feel as though it was my fault!! Sky Nails not only stands behind their work but, even apologized to me for the inconvenience that I experienced. Now that's customer service!! Do your self a favor and check 'em out on your next nail appointment. You will LOVE them just as I do!! read more

Not a big fan. I went a few times. I had the same girl twice and she always put a smile on her face and was careful not to complain, but I could see it all over her face that she was treated poorly as an employee. Another time I got a manicure there after having shellac removed and it was beyond awful. I picked a lighter color and there were visible chunks left over all under the polish. I could have done it better myself. I'm not one to make a scene so I didn't say anything...but it literally looked horrible. They get one star for having an amazing color selection...but having that said, that won't even bring me back. read more

Really like this salon, have been going elsewhere for years but my previous place just can't do a Shellac manicure very well. So a few months ago I switched to Sky Nails based on my daughters recommendation and they do them very well...one bit of advice, tell the manicurist how you would like your nails shaped right away as sometimes they are busy and forget to ask. Hope they start carrying the OPI gel line pretty soon so I can match my toes. read more
