The experience here was HORRIBLE!!!!!! DONT trust the good reviews!!!!!! I would give 0 star if I can... I went there because I wanted to take my nail extension off. I searched for nail salon and saw this one rated 4.9/5.0 on Google, I went this place. It was a small place and I trusted them at firs, but when it started taking my nail extension off, things got really bad... The woman used the manicure drill machine to grind off layers of my nail color and extension. The machine seemed like not sanitized and she did it so rough that it really hurt! I never hurt that much before! Then she asked me to chose color for my nail since previously I said I want the color. I chose between two colors and she even picked the different color that I chose. I told her this color is different for the sample, then she found another one. I was in a rush and asked her how long time will it take for the color. Another woman started to blame me it is because me asked her to find colors that waste a lot of time. I was mad and I changed my mind, said that I only need they take all of my nail extensions off (because they told me over and over again that they cannot take all of the extensions off, leave a thin layer for me). The woman started use alcohol to soak my nails. After that, she used nipper and nail file that were really dirty, like it has been used for hundreds of years. She even used the nipper to cut my nails to take off my extensions and it was hurt!!!!!! She also used the nail file really hard and my finger was bleeding at last. The things in the nail polish bottles were dirty, like the dirty white! After I bleed, she still want me to have the oil or something that can moisture my fingers (it was dirty)!!!!!!!!! Overall, my natural nails are broken so much and hurt a lot! I even got really red under my nails! Don't go to this store for you own sake!!!!!!! read more

I walked in yesterday for a full set. They convinced me to try silk. This is the worst set of nails I have ever had. She used some tips that were not the right size so they look kind of distorted. It also looks like scuff marks or air bubbles in all of the nails. I did not like how they painted on the french tip. The salon is really dirty and has random crap all over the place. I left feeling completely pissed that they charged me $60! This is the most I have ever paid for nails and again they are the worst ones. I have my baby shower tomorrow and i am tempted to just paint over them with dark polish to hide how horrible they are. The women were nice but definitely do not spend your money here!!! read more

I love this place been coming to this place for years not just me my whole family comes to this place. My mom had an appointment today at 11:30am, she came in and they attended someone that didn't have an appointment first, and they excuse was that the other person was in a rush. There is a reason why we made an appointment today, my mom had to be at Church by 1 PM because my it was my mom's 32 year's marriage anniversary, the lady rushed on my mom's nails and and mess up on one of them! When I moved into the area, I was so happy to continue using Vanessa, whom I had met in San Mateo. She works Tuesdays and Thursdays at Alex Nails, which her sister (Holly) owns. Not only is Vanessa an expert artist, but she is very caring and detailed in her work. Now that Vanessa is on maternity leave I find Holly is a wonderful nail artist, too. This place was super quick and got me in super quickly on a Saturday. I loved the way holly did my gel nails. I was referred by a friend to come here. The place is pretty tiny. The only downfall is that I like plastic in the tub I place my feet in and the tools didn't look too sanitary. But the workers were very nice and quick. They are always busy because a mani-pedi is only $25, Minus 1 Star because they only have 3 pedicure chairs and they have limited space to sit and wait..and that is why they always seem so busy. I like that they take their time on the pedicures and really do a good job removing the cuticles, some places they barely touch your toes and you are left thinking what did I just pay for, a soak in hot water and a polish change? Not here, and they do a really good french pedicure... They also do waxing...I went in one time during the day when they weren't busy, and got a mani pedi and needed a few places waxed and I literally had all 4 girls working on me at once! It was like a scene out of a movie, but hey they did a GOOD job and it was CHEAPP!!!! The waxing here is super dooper cheap! And the best part of all is when they start to speak Vietnamese to eachother, I don't get the impression they are talking smack about my ginormous feet ...well maybe they are but they do it with a smile! read more

i'm really not sure how the heck this place has 4 stars, granted with only 10 reviews...still. this place is awful. I saw the reviews before & have always wanted to check it out, so with time to spare this afternoon, i called & made an appt. I got there & was immediately like..hmmmm...the place is...old, small & frankly, dirty looking. But based on all the reviews, i decided to not judge a book by its cover. Diane the lady who did my nails, was very sweet but she sure did fly through my pedi. The leather pedicure chairs are old & have holes everywhere. The massage part of the chair was so rough that i was rocking in the chair, it was crazy! but the buttons on the chair massager was torn, so i couldn't even turn the darn thing off. 13 minutes of being pounded in the back. awesome. She soaked my feet for a few minutes and then took off my old polish, pushed back the cuticles some & trimmed them up. I was busy looking at emails on my phone, but when I looked as she was sanding them down, i realized that the emory board she was using did NOT look new, in fact, it was downright white with all the residue on it and i know that they do not use new unused tools for each client. ICK. *praying i don't get something funky* After the quick trim up, i was looking forward to this "15-20" min leg massage that some other reviewers have raved about...lol. right..she squirted a tiny bit of oil on my legs n gave each leg a few up & down motions. That was that. i couldn't believe how she was rushing through everything. Before i could say "what", she squirted my toes down with alcohol & started to put the polish on. She didn't put tissue or cotton inbetween each toes, she just started painting. She painted through my toes SO fast that I thought she was either super good at this or it was going to be a bad bad job. Sure enough, the polish was on my nails & on the skin surrounding. I thought maybe she would take a qtip afterwards to clean it up. NOPE. she just took her nail and scraped it off, which we all know, still leaves residue and color behind. she did one coat, one coat of the glitter polish & one top coat. Then she shooshed me off to the fan and forgot about me. I sat at the fan and looked down at my toes, every single toe had polish on the surrounding skin and i already knew i had to go home and clean it up myself with qtip and remover. unbelievable. I could have just walked at that point, she turned her back to me and just left me sitting there. But did i really want to risk getting arrested for a $20 pedi? Finally, i got up and went up to her "excuse me, can i pay now?" oh sure! handed me a business card & said "next time, u do mani AND pedi." i just smiled. To give you an idea of time, my appt was at 2pm, i was back in my car & heading home at 2:30. there will be no next time. this place is dirty, the job is half-assed & i'm really shocked and bewildered as to how they have ANY good reviews. Believe me, this is one of those times where you DO want to judge a book by its cover. Run run far away from this place. read more

I've been going to Alex Nails for 3 years. I absolutely love the girls there. It's very hard for me to book an appointment in advance due to my schedule being so erratic, so I always call same day and 90% of the time I get same day appointment. My nails were ruined after using acrylic for years. At Alex Nails they use silk wrap to protect them, and gel polish, and they're thin and not bulky looking and strong and I get to have my own nails growing stronger. I'm a Bodybuilder and a Fitness Instructor and I put my hands through a lot of physical "abuse". Rarely I break a nail and I have them long, I mean long.... I've always had special designs and nail polishes that Holly ordered just for me. Now for Halloween you gotta try their latest polish one that turns 4 different colors and glows in the dark. The place is a bit small, but I've been coming here for over a year and find if you show up 5min before your apt then you don't end up waiting-and if nancy asks you to wait a couple minutes cause you showed up late so she took a walk in, just walk accross the parking lot to chucks get a doughnut and come back and by then you'll be good to go . I have had gel fills by the three main girls and find Tina is the best at french tips or pink and white. (No air bubbles in the gel, like can happen at some places) i always get a design on at least two fingers and she always does something cute and different. They also have a great selection of sparkle powder (the best I've seen in the bay), for glitter tips. I highly recommend this place. They often stay open past 8pm when busy and try to accomidate everyone.The prices can't be beat! read more

They do a great job! I went to Tina for six months or so and would still be going to her even though I've moved 20 miles away, but I became sensitized to the chemicals for the acrylic nails. I have to wait until my fingertips recover before I go back, and even then I'm going to switch to gel nails. Tina has a wonderful aesthetic sensibility. My nails were always perfect. The other women there do a good job too, so anyone you get will give you top notch service, but Tina was my gal. It's not the cleanest place on earth but they were good about pedi cleanliness and always washed out the spas well, gave you new towels, etc. and the massage chairs were decent too. Also, the prices were very economical. The best price/service ratio in the Bay Area. Don't let the cheap prices fool you. You get a great set of nails. read more

I have been coming to Alex Nails for several years now. They have the most reasonable prices around. I usually pay 38.00 for a pedicure and a gel fill. Acrylic fills cost even less. The employees are quick and pleasant and not too chatty or intrusive, one of my pet peeves. If it is not busy, they will have more than one employee work on you at the same time so you can get on your way sooner. Only one drawback, the owner Nancy never says no to walk-ins and so people with appointments may come in and find that they get a late start because a walk-in is still occupying the station. read more

Horrible never ever go with her. she didnt even know the sizes of the tips had to take my tip off twice because she kept messing put wayy to much glue on the tips got it all over my skin my fingers hurt from her filing too hard ! I asked her something she would ignore me and made me reapeat myself sevral times before I got that I was being ignored! awful . Suddenly changed hands. They said they didn't know what happened to the previous owners. It's cleaner than it was, but I was not happy to learn that a fill had gone from $20 to $30 - after it was done. When I asked why, they said it was because of the shellac they used. Small place but the ladies there are pretty nice. Last time I went I got my eyebrows done, french pedicure, and a gell set. The lady that did my eyebrows was amazing! They looked great. She shaped them perfectly. But there was a time before when I went to get my eyebrows done here and they waxed them way too thin. But this last time I went I specified that I didn't want them too thin and they came out great. My pedicure was done well by a different lady. I wish they would have scrubbed my feet more but I got the soak, normal scrub, lotion, and massage. They treated my cuticles with care. Another different lady did my gell set and she did a really good job too. I have a problem with one of my nails where it doesn't grow straight but slightly curved from a previous accident I had and all the other places I have been to they placed the nail with the curve but as I started to tell the lady about my finger, she said that she knew what to do and she did. When it was all done, the way she placed the nail on my weird fingernail, it looked as if it never was growing curved, but identical to all my other fingernails. She treated my nail beds with care. I had no cuts from the process. I called and made an appointment so I was worked on as soon as I got in the door. The prices are reasonable, on the cheaper side compared to other nail salons. Eyebrows were $10 and my gell set with white tip was $35. I think my pedicure was about $15. I know that they offer a mani/pedi special for $25. read more

I came in today with a few friends as a last resort - the two other nail places on the street were booked and we didn't feel like waiting an hour. We got into this place and I was immediately concerned. It is TINY, old, and frankly looked pretty dirty. I'm usually not one to judge a book by its cover and thought that maybe the good reviews meant that this hole in the wall was actually a decent spot. I was wrong. My pedicure took about 20 minutes and was pretty terrible. The polish ended up uneven and on my skin. The actual tools used did not look sanitary. The chair I sat in was dirty and had holes in it, and the massage part was broken and just weirdly vibrated. As if this all wasn't bad enough, my friend sat untouched the whole time I was getting my nails done. I assumed that since there were only two people working there, she would get her nails done by the same lady doing mine when she finished. However, a walk in came right as she was finishing with me and the woman knew her and went to do her nails right away, so my friend had to wait another 20 minutes. By the time someone was ready for her we were all finished so she didn't even feel like waiting. Bottom line- poor customer service, horrible nail painting skills, and dirtiness = I will NEVER be back. One of the worst nail salon experiences I've had. read more
