We have some relatives coming in June for our son's Graduation. In need of a place for them to stay, we thought we'd check out Hyatt Place Eugene and their SkyBar in particular. The Skybar is located on the 5th floor of the building along with the Hotel lobby... uh okay. The staff are all very pleasant and accommodating. We went to the SkyBar and found it to be a smallish yet convenient place to wait for guests or visitors along with getting a drink or a bite to eat. The bar looks like it can accommodate about 30 people in the interior. There is a nice outdoor patio that can easily accommodate more when the weather is nice. The barkeeper was very attentive and observant, he took our food and drink requests at the bar and in short order, everything was presented. I had a Moscow Mule that I found to be a refreshing drink. Ginger beer, lime and vodka. An excellent combination. I also had an order of the chicken wings and fries. The fries were a normal shoestring variety, cooked well, nicely salted and came in a metal bowl. The wings I found to be outstanding! I don't usually get wings this well made unless I do it myself. I received 8 wings coated with barbecue sauce on a charcuterie board with the fries. The wings were served nicely hot. The meat was piping hot, juicy and tender. The barbecue coating was a hearty middle of the road sauce, not sweet or too smoky. It was caramelized perfectly for that sticky texture and flavor. Definitely a nice coating. Thankfully the bartender brought us a lot of napkins. The wings and fries made for a satisfying meal. The bar boasts a couple of gas fireplaces that make for a warming environment with a few semi private tables. There is a longer table for a larger group as well as several smaller tables and a few bar stools for game watching. All in all we found the bar to be a cozy semi-private environment, yet available to the guests as they come and go. All around, a nice meeting area and watering hole. We will book our family members for a stay here at the hotel. I'm looking forward to trying more of their specialty drinks. read more

This seems to be the only rooftop bar in Eugene but is worth checking out. Unfortunately, because we came too late (10 pm) the patio was sectioned off so the guests staying around the area would not be disturbed. The inside was still nice though and had good vibes. The drinks were also very good but a tad on the pricey side. Our bartender was super nice though and recommended some great drinks. SkyBar didn't necessarily WOW me but was still a chill place to come for a drink, maybe to start the night. I'll have to come back to check out the patio/food and maybe that will up the experience a little. read more

They close the outdoor area at 10pm so be aware. Nice to come around sunset. Cute spot to grab a drink and some bites. Wings were good but wish they were crispy. The hummus was good, liked that it also comes with veggies. Enjoyed the classic margarita. This weekend, my friends and I wanted to try something new so we made our way to Skybar on top of the Hyatt. Cocktails are a little bit on the pricier side for our usual night out at just over $11 dollars a cocktail but they were really good and our bartender Eden was so nice and helpful in making sure we got something we'd love! I got the "Parisian Dream", a berry flavored vodka drink and it was delicious! I knocked off a star because this place is really only a rooftop up until 10pm because there are guest rooms next to the patio. This didn't really bother us but it would have been nice to know before hand. Overall the drinks were really yummy but the vibes of the indoor hotel bar weren't anything super special. We hope to come back for the roof sometime though! read more

Stopped in for a cocktail and some appetizers. It was pouring rain so they had the patio closed. I believe life on the patio would be a game changer. The inside is rather small, modern, but definitely feels like a hotel. The service was great, the drinks were okay, (We weren't wowed) and the food was only so, so. My first time here and the place is gorgeous. Truly a hidden gem for Eugenian's. The architecture and stylings are awesome. Love the Sky deck. Love the decor. You wont be disappointed about your choice to come here. Drinks? Oh ya. Full bar. Good choice of wines and beers. The food? You'll be happy to know that its edible. Lets start there. The burger was a little misleading but thats okay; the result was a pre-cooked 2 patty burger with ingratiated nacho sauce. The good news is the bun was local and freshly and delish. The burger had decent flavor but the absence of any juice gave it away. It was dry and slightly tasteless as the chili nacho sauce took over. The fries were great. I can tell the fryer is clean. The fries are shoestring variety. My only advice is to salt them next time. The citrus chile popcorn was good. They use a salt made up with ground chile. Tasty but dry. Needs butter. This place on a Friday night at 5:30, even with perfect weather, wasn't too busy. My advice would be to go around this time, post-work crowds haven't gotten there yet. We ordered at the bar inside and then grabbed a seat at one of the tables with an umbrella. You're on the 5th floor, the view is good but not jaw dropping. I bet it would be amazing at sunset. However, Eugene is seriously lacking in public rooftop spaces so no complaints here. Being outside and not a street, but above the noise, was really nice. They've done a good job with this area. The reason I am not giving SkyBar a 5 star is because it is EXPENSIVE. $6.50 for a domestic beer. To give you an idea, I had one drink, my husband had two microbrews, we ordered the parm-paprika fries, he had the burger and I had mac and cheese. Our bill came to around $75. The fries were good, but the Parmesan is just sitting on there, not melted or stuck to the fries. My mac and cheese was good, but not the best I've ever had. I enjoyed the mix-ins they have with it, added some more flavor. My husband said the burger was good, he ordered it with guacamole but they put it on the side of the burger instead of on it. I thought that was strange. But with the "boom-boom" sauce they have on the burger, he didn't even end up using the guacamole. It was nice that the sides options were fries, chips or fresh fruit. You don't see fresh fruit options enough. The staff was nice and attentive. They had a bit of trouble running a gift card we had so that part took the longest, otherwise they were quick to clear our empties and ask how we were doing. As we were leaving, they had another staff member starting their shift, I assume in preparation for a busier evening scene. read more

The outdoor space is like a courtyard no views at all except of the hotel rooms above and around you. I don't think Eugene has any other sky bars so this place is really unique and just so beautiful inside. There is seating outside and it's just as beautiful. It's perfect for an after party or just a date night. There's seating towards the back in a booth and there's a fireplace so you can get cozy. The drinks are a little pricey but not really too bad and the food is surprisingly good. The service is really great. I was there celebrating my birthday and our server really took care of us. It was my dirty 30 and it was a good time. The Sky Bar will always have a special place in my memory. read more

What a little gem! I had no idea this existed, but a friend invited me and boy am I glad she did!. The view is AMAZING of Eugene. They have heaters and fire pits. Inside is great too. Food is very good, as are the drinks. Service is terrific. We were doted on. Its a great after spot. I can see meeting for a post-work event. Parking is easy to get to. Go have the truffle fries and a drink and enjoy what Eugene has to offer! read more

This setting has a nice, somewhat protected (from heavy breezes), above street-level, outdoor patio. Good for small to medium sized gatherings. Service was average to poor. Prices are $$$$ as you would expect. Beer, wine and hard alcohol selection is quite limited. The indoor component of this setting is principally targeted to the Hyatt's guests and really has no particular appeal otherwise. read more

Went for my friend's birthday dinner & the bartender was incredibly rude so we had one (overpriced) drink & left to Chappala's downstairs. The bartender said they couldn't serve more than 6 people (our group at 7). So, we offered to break up our group & then she said if we were together at all she would kick us out. The Pace picante sauce was out of this world! They even had my favorite store bought guacamole! I almost forgot to mention the Costco French fries! This place even had the courtesy to water down our drinks so we didn't have to drink a glass of water between beverages. The ambiance was to die for with wafts of propane filling our nostrils. I've been here several times with my girlfriends for some drinks and a beautiful view. For the first several times the drinks were t e r r i b l e. It was just hotel severs, no offense, making well drinks and bad ones at that. The only reason we continued to come back was to show our out-of-town friends the amazing view and atmosphere. Tonight was different, which is why I'm writing this 5 star review. They actually have someone at the bar who can make great drinks! I asked the bartender (Her name was Kandace) for a drink she recommended; a fresh muddled berry margarita, and it was delicious! My husband got their signature Old Fashion, and he was also impressed. So the ambience at this place or at least the views are worthy of a four-star. When we arrived on a Thursday night there's live music, open fire pits and the lovely Vista out on the rooftop. However that's pretty much where the good things end. I don't want to sound overly negative but the bartender here didn't know a damn thing about cocktails. She said they don't have sugar cubes which is ludicrous because there was an old-fashioned on the menu and simple syrup is not the same. I asked about several other cocktails and she just didn't know anything... I literally had to come up with the recipe on my phone for her to figure out. The drinks were way overpriced. I lived in Portland for years so I'm used to cocktails been a little higher when they're will executed but I had a poorly made French 75 cocktail for $12.75 and my friends mediocre sangria was $10.75. There are very few cocktails on the drink menu and none of them were very innovative. There was a gentleman next to me who asked for the wine list and apparently they don't have one which is ridiculous. It's not like it's expensive to print out some basic information and tasting notes for your pours. I get that this is a hotel bar but Hyatt, you really need to up your game. Get someone in there that knows how to make drinks, create an expanded cocktail menu, lower your prices or at least do some basics that are under $10. Create some featured seasonal beverages & get some damn sugar cubes. They're literally $2 for a box and last forever. Maybe go down to Rye and look at their cocktail menu, they do a great job of having both higher-end cocktails as well as classics. If these changes could be implemented this could be a great date night spot and some place I'd recommend going out with the girls. But as it stands, not worth going back even with the view with all of the area that need to be strengthened. read more

Love this hidden gem!! My go to lounge. Atmosphere is amazing especially during the summer. The outdoor tables are a must. Wish they had more food selection but the chips, salsa, and guacamole is a perfect inexpensive snack to eat while drinking. They discontinued the Brussels sprouts but that was so good. This is a really cool spot. It has a huge outdoor patio looking over coburg rd. Area. Has plenty of heaters outdoor for the winter time. Prices are spendy. They don't have a huge selection of beers on tap. Alot of top shelf liquor as well. I paid $5.25 for a widmer on tap it was happy hour so I couldn't imagine how much it is regular cost. But overall I'll be back on a friday and see what kinda vibe it has going. read more

I would give this place five stars just on the location and atmosphere alone. This is Eugene's only sky bar and I love the string patio lights and the fire pit and it's very large with plenty of seating and outdoor heaters if only the staff would turn them on! The menu is very limiting for food so that's disappointing also. I haven't been here during the warm summer months so that's probably the best time to go. Don't like the metal tables and chairs however. They're freezing cold in the winter time and they will burn your legs if it's hot outside. read more

You really can't beat the views here. I don't think there's anywhere else in Eugene you can go to for a rooftop bar experience so I totally welcome this addition. The service at the bar was accommodating and friendly for the short time I was there. I expected overpriced drinks and that's what I found but at least they were on the stronger side! One thing that seemed weird to me was that there wasn't any music playing outside! We were there for a networking event and it was completely silent outside which made the vibe a little stiff and quiet until people began talking. Just because you have views and heaters doesn't mean you don't need other additions to set the atmosphere. They have nice little fireplaces but they also have an indoor pool with guests looking at you through the glass wondering what you're doing while you stare back at them in their bathing suit with a cocktail in hand. A little odd but hey, it's a hotel. I honestly would only make this a one stop cocktail place if someone wanted to see a really nice view, but we would quickly proceed to a different establishment with more character, atmosphere and reasonably priced drinks and food. read more

The only dislike was when the wind blew the outdoor fireplace flames went out and a strong smell of gas was in the air. It happened several times. For a celebratory drink, great views of the Eugene skyline, or a fun way to end a night in the Oakway area- the Skybar on top of the Hyatt in Eugene is well worth a visit. Expect rather overpriced drinks (it is a hotel, after all), but with a cute intimate inside and of course, a pretty incredible outdoor patio with heat lamps, fires, and cute bistro lighting. This is the only rooftop spot in Eugene that I am aware of, and that alone makes it worth the visit. They also do events such as wine tastings, live music, and daily happy hours specials. I haven't tried any food here, but have heard positive things. A night ending at the Skybar is a night well spent! read more

Very nice bartender, but drinks were just mediocre. They were expensive drinks and the margarita was absolutely foul and not drinkable.

The service I got from the guy at the bar (think his name was Ricky) was impeccable. Literally was ignored because the other bartenders where standing and talking to each other and he noticed me and stopped what he was doing gave me ideas for my drinks, had a genuine conversation with me and made me a life time patron. Had lunch with friends and was disappointed, Our lunches came separate even though we ordered together. Mine a club sandwich finally came after the others finished eating. We were told that the burger was precooked so it will of course be well done. Water is self serve, Really the bartender couldn't get me a glass with my wine??
