This was our last stop on our Erica Group mural day adventure. It is located at the wonderful Skydive DeLand. So, to our surprise, we got to watch skydivers land, all well taking photos of this mural. It was a pretty awesome experience. Skydive DeLand is world renowned, opening its doors in 1982. It caters to first time jumpers all the way to world champion jumpers. This was Erica Group's first mural! It is representative of an old bi-plane. On her website she says she completed it by 12/20/2017. This day is a day I will never forget. Finding all the murals was such an adventure. And one that was for free. I highly recommend that everybody do this. Get out and see West Volusia County. You'll be surprised as to what you run into:) Definitely put a day aside for your adventure as you'll need it, as a whole day of fun awaits! read more

I cannot say enough good things about my experience at Deland. If you are at all thinking about skydiving whether that be for tandem, AFF or beyond, I highly recommend coming here. #1 they're one of the largest drop zones (DZ) in the US. #2 the world's best come here to train, so why wouldn't you? #3 (and maybe most importantly) the people. From the moment you step on to the DZ you feel welcomed and at home. It doesn't matter if you're talking with the restaurant staff, riggers, manifest, instructors, the awesome people picking you up from the student landing zones, or just other skydivers. They treat you like a long known friend or family. Now don't get me wrong, they'll also whip you into shape like your family will but it's all in the name of making sure you are safe and learning the right skills for your level. I can confidently say I do not think I would have been as successful in my goal of completing AFF had I gone somewhere else. People make the place, and this place is MADE. Thank you to everyone for your overwhelming support, kindness and guidance over the last 10 days. Can't wait to come back again. Also the owner Bob, flies one of the planes! How cool is that?! And the food is so good! (Honestly I did not have high hopes, but I stopped buying groceries and just eating there. It was great!) Pro tip(s) for first-timers: 1. Start times are not optional (if you sign up for something and it's 8am, be there at 7:50am. Respect peoples time and they will respect you). Also if you want a good spot on the plane or for instruction from coaches, show up early! It's first come first served, don't get mad when you're 3-4 loads in because you choose to sleep in an extra 30 min. 2. Respect the rules for the drop zone. Instructions from staff (coaches, instructors, riggers, gear store, manifest, etc.) are not optional. You are there to have fun and learn and they are also there to help you with that, but they are also more importantly there for your safety. 3. Be a sponge. Everyone is going to have an opinion or want to share their stories with you. Listen to everyone, be open to feedback. Soak it all in! Just remember at the end of the day, your instructors and the pilot are the #1 bosses for your safety. 4. Let go of control to gain control. You'll hear this time and time again, "relax." Which seems counterintuitive. Literally how do you relax when you're free falling at 13.5K above the ground? But trust me, when you stop fighting it that's when you have the most control. Listen to your instructors when they say take a breath, arch and relax. It really is the #1 thing that will help you improve. read more

Horrible customer service. No one working wanted to take responsibility or accountability, absolutely no communication. 5 of us made reservations weeks in advance for a bucket list trip, my bestie is terminally ill, we arrived on our scheduled day only to be weathered out. We were sad but understood the hazards and spoke with the lady at the front desk and she assured us that if we all were to come back ( mind you this is a 2 hour drive) at 8am when they opened the next day, we could jump that morning. We arrived at 7:50am, waited 2 1/2 hours just to be pushed back and back. Then Carlos (management?) told us that tandem jumpers were okay but our solo jumper was not with the rental due to winds BUT COULD GET HIM ON THE NEXT PLANE.. does that make any sense?! Not to us either, we kindly asked for a refund, that's when Carlos started getting hostile toward our group. We received our refund and left. We drove 2 hours to Skydive Sebastian to have a FANTASTIC TIME PARACHUTING. Think twice before dealing with this company. read more

Not too bad, I would say they staff behind the counter needs a lot of work, (appeared to be young perhaps why?) but we continuously called to purchase the sunrise jump and zero communication, and no calls back.. which is a major disappointment along with the fact they have our drivers license and can't spell our names correctly sadly for our certificate and YouTube video that they posted on their YouTube channel.. and for the first people you talk too and see, definitely not a great start at all and might even scare people off.. but the photographers and tandem instructor were knowledgeable and friendly! I would have to say gentleman with the white go-t forget his name but definitely is one tandem instructor we won't forget! The only reason this is three stars instead of one is because my jump instructor Pine was awesome. If this review was only based on my interactions with Pine I'd give it five stars. He was super friendly, made me feel really safe and gave me an awesome skydiving experience! I've been once before in another state and jumping with Pine topped that for sure. He was awesome - thank you, Pine! Vanessa, on the other hand, who works at the check-in desk was a nightmare. She was cold, rude, uninterested and not helpful at all. Skydiving is supposed to be a blast but Vanessa put a major damper on our experience as the first person you encounter here. I don't know what her problem was but even after she was rude to us we tried to win her over by being kind and joking with her but all we got was the cold shoulder. Vanessa might need an edible or a strong drink. Or a new job. read more

The location has a bar/restaurant so you can chill with your peeps before and after your jump. I went to Deland for my first skydiving experience, I can tell that place was loved by a lot of people since there are people camping there for repeated jumps!! There were also many Europeans there going solo. I got the video/photo package as well, so I had a photographer following me around, I'm SO GLAD I GOT THE VIDEO FOR MY FIRST SKYDIVING EXPERIENCE, YOU SHOULD DEFINITELY GET THE VIDEO/PHOTO PACKAGE FOR YOUR FIRST TIME! They're all professionally done and capture the very first of your skydiving expressions/movements! The plane ride was very smooth, me and my tandem coach were the last ones to jump out followed by the photographer.My coach also taught me some parachuting maneuvers. I was never nervous at once, it was one of the BEST EXPERIENCES I've ever had, I wanted to go back again as soon as I landed! I highly recommend people to try skydiving at least once their life time. Deland Skydive is definitely a good local place for some skydiving fun. I'd go back to get my skydiving license if I had time, hopefully soon! read more

Amazing time for my first jump!!! Everyone was very friendly and knowledgeable and no one tried to upsell us with anything- no hidden costs. I went with 4 other friends and it was a first jump for all of us. The pre-jump instructions were very clear and we all felt comfortable with our tandem instructor/jumper. They all had jumped thousands of times and knew exactly what they were doing and made us feel very safe. Kenneth was my tandem instructor and he's awesome! The free fall is the most awesome experience and we were able to do some spins and enjoy the experience. I was able to pull/deploy the parachute, which was cool, and I was even able to help steer?/drive? for a bit as we descended. Perfect landing by Kenneth and we were back on the ground. I would definitely do it again -no questions asked and I would go back to Skydive DeLand!!! And the bar/restaurant is a great place to watch your amazing videos taken by the talented videographers as you fall from the sky.
