I have always enjoyed the food and service at Skyline Cafe! This is a restaurant with no frills other than amazing food and great service!

We went to this cafe after the local car show. The food is subpar and service slow. The restroom is like an obstacle course to get to and is so dirty. The sink fixture has what looks like black mold around the bottom and knobs. We will not be back. There was a very loud patron giving unsolicited advice to others on what to visit in the town which was very distracting. read more

Not sure why this has place has a 4 1/2 star rating??!! Let me start from the beginning! I was with my 88 yr old mother driving the Talimena drive and we decided to have breakfast here because of the good rating. My mother uses a walker so I understand not all places are handicap friendly or accommodating.... But to get to the bathroom here you have to navigate walking thru the fountain drink area and where they keep their supplies. After running the obstacle course to take my mother to the bathroom.... our "waitress" came over and was rude & acted as she could give a rats a** from the get go. We ordered coffee and the waitress brought them over and sat them down and left before I could ask for creamer. We were sitting there directly under a mini split air conditioner and my mother was already cold so we moved to a table next to us. We kept trying to get our waitresses attention but she kept acting as if she did not hear or see us (this place is small... ) She finally came over, and I asked for creamer and she said they didn't have any, well I've seen other people pouring something into their coffees so I asked if they had any half and half and she said no! I said you don't have half and half or creamer? She said we have milk! I said ok can I get some? She was just down right rude and obstante! I wanted to leave but my mother didn't want to. I wish we had. The food came out and it was horrible! The "toast" was bread right out of the bag! It wasn't toasted!!! The French toast was burnt on one side and the other side never touched the pan...Soggy Raw egg on the other side! The eggs were dry and crusty where they had stuck to the pan! The waitress brought over some syrup (that she went back and grabbed by the drink fountain where everyone who goes to the bathroom has to walk past) that was a large tub with a hole in the top! There was no cover for it. It was a community syrup that was always open. Nope! I'm done! She brings my ticket and it has $15.36 on the bottom. When I go up to pay (our waitress) in a flat monotone voice ask, "how was it" I didn't say a word because I couldn't lie. She then proceeded to charge me $19.96! I guess that's why she is rude and doesn't give a sh*t because she adds her own tip in at checkout! read more

We made a motorcycle trip Nov 7th&8th and stayed in Mena. We had friends with us. They had never eaten here so we suggested it. Of course we knew there would be no disappointments. Breakfast was perfect! I love their biscuits & gravy. My wife loved the blueberry pancakes. We had a terrific waitress! I love this Cafe! It's everything I want in a breakfast spot. Do not miss out! Don't go grab fast food. For almost the same cost you can have a real meal, and service! We love the Skyline Cafe! read more

This place is not bad and pretty much the only breakfast choice in Mena. It's an older place with a little local charm.

Beware!!!! Tally your check closely they will steal from you! They only take cash and have handwritten tickets and this may be why. Watch the "waitress" in the Christian shirts - when we were there she had in a black shirt with a cross on front and "Faith" on the back. Dark hair in a pony tail and a black right arm brace persistent snarky look on her face and rude and horrible service from her specifically. She will attempt to steal from you at the cash register and you can see this on other reviews. Although we tipped for the other service providers when we got to the cash register the waitress I described (who may have been the manager) rung the check up and it was $10 more than it should have been. When we challenged her she said oh it's only $9 and "not a big deal". We said it is too us and forced her to remove it. We got to the car and found about $4 in other over charges. And yes the food was below average so dont fall for the "world famous" anything. Honestly it was the intentional theft that was the major issue. Shame! read more

This is a small time cafe. We have been here twice but order the corned beef and eggs special. The corned beef is VERY GOOD. (The waitress tells us it is award winning...and I believe her!). I chose biscuit and it was surprisingly good. I think homemade. The prices are very reasonable. And the service is fast. Eggs are done properly. Soft is soft and medium is medium. That is hard to find. It is a busy place. Based on other reviews I would say...adjust expectations. This isn't a chain restaurant... it is an old cafe. So it will show some wear. The waitress is very efficient. So I don't care if she is entertaining or my best friend. Haha. Efficient to me is not rude. She never stops moving. So good food. Good price. Guy Fieri where are you ? This is your classic Cafe, Im surprised has not been found and featured on the food network. What you see is what you get! The friendly smile, the homemade food and the classic mix matched plateware. All located in the heart of Mena. It was such a pleasant experience! We were seated quickly; staff kept the coffee going ( always a plus!!) They know what they are doing! Loved the grits and biscuits and gravy but most of all loved that we were able to share the experience with family! This may be the only diner in this small town but worth trying than he commercial McDonalds ! You can see the numerous travelers from all over noted on the walls! Great little diner in Mena. Super nice and friendly waitstaff. We stopped in for lunch over Memorial Day weekend and had a nice lunch. They were very busy with big tops and I appreciate them telling us when we walked in it would be a little while due to the large orders. we came from out of town and we thought It would be a cute small town place to eat. Nope. the food was ok. they didn't accept credit or debit and had a hostile sign about phones right when you walk in. pretty impatient/unwelcoming staff which is strange for a local spot. They didn't total the check... they just put the individual prices on the check (very poorly written to the point we couldn't read it) and expected us to do all of the math and total our own check. They also didn't include drinks on the tab as well so we had to figure out the prices and add them. The soft drinks we recieved tasted like dish soap. - would not go back- terrible way of service. This is the type of old-fashioned home-town cafe that serves great food at a great price. They don't accept credit cards, so make sure to stop at the ATM before going by. They are definitely my favorite breakfast/brunch place in the Mena area. If you are in town on Sunday, be sure to try their Sunday Specials, like Eggs Benedict, Blueberry Pancakes, or Banana-Nut French Toast. Skyline Cafe is an old and country picnic on a blanket kind of a place to me. Great prices, energetic servers a quality food. Many of our town's VIPs eat here at a especially spread table. I went with a party of four. It was the only only place open at the time and day that we visited. We tried veggie omelette, turkey club sandwich and French toast. Best restaurant in Mena. Part of Mena history, this small easily discounted dinner is amazing. It's been around over 100 years, is located in downtown. Friendly waitresses and delicious food. The salad bar opens at 10:30, my favorite is to wait until 10:30 Friday for the salad bar and fish lunch special. me and some friends were in town for a wedding and decided to come here the morning after as a cute brunch spot. first thing when we walked in the door, there is only cash or check accepted. next, there is a sign stating that if anyone in the party is on their phone, "their privacy will be respected and they will be skipped for the next in line". once we got seated, i ordered a dr pepper and it tasted like soap. when we ordered food, i waited to order because i was deciding between 2 things and the waitress was unbelievably rude about it. the food was okay, not great. at the end, we got our check and paid in cash. we went outside and started chatting and the waitress came out saying we owed more money because "they didn't total the check they gave us". who doesn't total a check at a restaurant? the overall experience was foul and rude and i most definitely will not be back. read more
