Skyline chili, where have you been all my life? We were in town to visit the nearby ark encounter. We stopped by on the recommendation from a friend in Cincinnati. So glad we did. The hotdog are a little bit smaller than what Midwesterners normally expect but what they lacked in size they more than overcame in taste. Soft delicious buns with wonderful chili cheese and onions. I chose two hotdogs and it was the perfect amount for me. I might order three next time. My friend ordered one hotdog and a bowl of spaghetti with chili and cheese. She loved it. We thought this was going to be an order at the counter restaurant, but we're pleasantly surprised when we walked in the door and we're seated. Wonderful staff service. Bright atmosphere and very family friendly. Next time we visit the arc, we will definitely pop by for chili dogs. read more

We walked in for our first visit, not knowing what to expect. No one greeted us. We sat down at a dirty table (they all were) and watched as they prepared the food. I have alpha gal and celiac, but had planned to get the chicken chili until I watched them. As they made the chili dogs they would run the ladle along the dog and BUN, then the ladle would go back into the chili-- contaminating the entire pot. Just on service alone I'm giving 5 stars. In Kentucky so had to go try Skyline chili. Never been but know that it's a staple in these parts. We were greeted upon entering and told to sit anywhere we wanted. Immediately greeted by the server and drink orders taken. We had to ask for a menu to browse. The waitress was so sweet! She said that it's not common for non-regulars to come in. You could tell that the place had mostly regulars because they knew each other by name. They have plenty of seating inside and the service is excellent. I ordered the 3-way potato. The cheese was piled so high so I did pull the bulk of it off. Food was out so quick and it was good. The food was good and service was okay. Nothing to run home and tell anyone about. The hot dogs with chili makes the food worth while. Can't go wrong with simple ingredients. If you're tired of the burger and fries that they see everywhere and you need a change. Then you may want to stop in and try this place out. I do enjoy an over loaded hot dog with onions cheese and chilly. I mean if that's your thing. But just remember that if you get thirsty you may need to wave someone down. Food was cold. Spaghetti is the chili. Just a spoon of watery brownish liquid with cheese on top that wouldn't even melt! Cheese fries cold and cheese don't even melt slightly. Not bad for a fast food place. We were in the area, and we hadn't yet tasted the famous Cincinnati chili, so we stopped by Skyline in Dry Ridge for lunch. You seat yourself, but then there's table service until you pay at the register. It was pretty busy when we arrived, so it took a while for the waitress to come to our table, but she was very nice and polite, and the poor thing was constantly moving. I had the 5 way chili. I liked it, although I'd have preferred more al dente noodles. My son loved it hot dog (from the kids menu). My daughter did not like the plain spaghetti noodles, but she didn't want to try the chili or the hot dog. My husband ordered a burrito and was surprised to receive a burrito drowned in lettuce, tomatoes, cheese and chili. This was definitely not a southwestern burrito! He still ate it, although he did not care for the cinnamon in the chili. He ended up sharing the vegetables with the kids and then ordering a plain hotdog for himself. He liked the hotdog. Service wasn't as fast as we'd hoped, but it was polite. The bathroom was clean, but they really should have more restroom capacity compared to the restaurant seating capacity. We are at a couple of these during our stay in Ohio. All were super clean inside, with very friendly wait staff. We loved the simple menu and great food! I wish these were all over the country! Ordered a regular 5-way with a bib and a knife and a diet Dr Pepper. Husband got the same. The service was excellent. The restaurant was steadily busy. The waitress was scrambling to take orders, deliver food, and bus tables. She was great. She brought me an extra bib for me to cover my lap, and she brought us our drink refills in go cups. We visited from Texas and was our first time trying the skyline chili spaghetti. We loved it!

Skyline chili is usually a favorite-BUT I probably will choose a different location next time. Food: In the past Skyline food has been consistent and very good, but the chili sauce at this location was thinner, tasted watered down (and left a watery liquid at the end) and I felt that it was less flavorful. The spaghetti pasta seemed to be uniformly an orange color before having the sauce on it. It seemed different from my previous visits to Skyline restaurants. Portions seemed smaller than those at other locations. I was very disappointed. The casual ambiance & facility and cheerful service were similar to other restaurants in this chain. Parking was adequate We will probably choose a different location the next time we are in the Cincinnati area. read more

Having lived in Northern Kentucky for part of our lives, Hubby and I both like Cincinnati chili and Skyline may be our favorite. It's always a treat to eat here when we are in the area. We walked in and found a table right away. Hubby had a small 5-way with 2 chili cheese dogs and I tried the Greek salad for the first time with my 3-way. The salad was delicious and I will definitely order one again, but will get a small 3-way next time! We love us some Skyline chili and took the opportunity to stop on our trip back home, which takes us through the land of Cincinnati Chili. SPAGHETTI 4-WAY with onions is our favorite. Their new HABANERO cheese is the perfect topping! However the habanero heat builds bite-after-bite so don't order the spicy cheese unless you love spice...like we do. BAKED POTATO MISSING - This location didn't offer the baked potato that could be topped with chili (as found at other locations). My gluten-free daughter was disappointed. This is only reason I docked a star because this restaurant chain is OFF-THE-CHAIN delicious! BUN-LESS CONY DOG - My daughter opted for this since she can't eat gluten. When we decided to take a northern route home, I was excited to find a Skyline Chili, it wasn't what I expected... but it was good! Not being from the area, I had no idea that Skyline is a regional chain that offers chili, of course. They are famous for their Coney Dogs and Bowls of Chili over Spaghetti... oh and cheese, apparently lots, and lots, of cheese. This particular location was only about 4 miles from the Ark Encounter, so we headed there to check it out. Two Coney Dogs with the "extreme hobanero" cheese for me, overall I felt the hotdogs were a bit smaller than expected and the cheese didn't taste hot at all. I thought the flavor was good and was happy i came to check it out. The restaurant seemed clean and the waitress, who shared she was in training, did a great job. Location is conveniently located right off of I-75 so whenever you're feeling good and hungry it's Skyline time! Service started out great but then our server left without anyone telling us. The server that took over visited our table once and then she dropped off the check without coming back again to check on us. We had to ask the cashier for a to go container and the kids meal ice creams and we didn't get the refills that we wanted on our drinks! Food quality was also lacking a bit as our 4 ways didn't have much chili on them and I had a cluster of onions that weren't diced up! The cheese coney was perfect! While at the Ark an elderly man recommended trying Skyline. Since these chains don't exist where we are from, we decided to go. I will have to say I was very disappointed in the taste of the food. First time trying Skyline and Cincinnati style chili and it exceeded our expectations! We went in a little bit unsure of how much we'd enjoy it because of the spices (cinnamon, cocoa, etc). We ordered coneys, a 3 way and a 4 way with beans. We were blown away by how much we liked it! I think it was good we had our expectations where they were and had researched it before eating. If you're expecting a traditional southwest/TexMex style chili you're going to be disappointed. Get that out of your mind and think Greek inspired flavors and spices. We went into the coneys first (they are small and not big enough to share. You'll be happier getting your own) and the flavor was outstanding! We felt like the Greek spices (cinnamon, etc) were very mild and blended in well to the coney. The mustard is a nice addition. Add some of the Skyline hot sauce and kick it up a notch! The 3 & 4 way spaghetti plates were good, but the cinnamon did seem to be slightly more pronounced in that dish. Still really tasty! Next time we are in the area of a Skyline we plan to stop again. First off I'd like to thank the staff for being very accommodating. I had the 3 way and cheese coney which didn't take long to come out. I liked the idea of spaghetti noodles with chili rather than sauce. We don't have skyline chili here in California so I was anxious to try it and i enjoyed it. Umm...Skyline Chili...brought me to cloud 9 while driving through I-75. My first encounter with "Skyline Chili" was when I ate at their downtown location near the Great American Ball Park. I didn't have their "3-way" or "4-way" combo because I just liked a plain chili bowl loaded with cheese, sour cream, and diced onions. Hubby and I started looking for a location off the interstate once we were in northern Kentucky/Cincinnati area. This one appeared quite new, given the fact that there was a gentleman working on installing the surveillance cameras. Overall, I would say dining at "Skyline Chili" was great for a road trip; we were in and out within thirty (30) minutes. I had the "loaded chili bowl." I could have ordered a second bowl. It was that good. I tasted a noticeable presence of cumin. If that wasn't it, their special blend of spices truly enticed me to come back for more! Hubby's "original deluxe burrito" was loaded with cheese and lettuce on top, which totally masked the protagonist underneath. It wasn't a typical burrito that one could hold and feed into the mouth. It was no way to not make a mess while consuming it. Anyway, I'm sad that I can't have SC whenever I want to as a Chicagoan. Perhaps I can franchise one? Yay or nay? Going to caveat this by saying hat I don't really like fast food or runny chili. Two counts against them before eating. But, they really do a decent job. The Greek salad was fresh with loads of ingredients. My 4 way has lots of flavor and I appreciated the addition of habanero cheese! Lastly, I'm so glad they give calorie info on the menu! So helpful. Skyline Chili is one of my favorite stops along I75 - it seems like there is either a skyline or a gold star at every exit. I did like the service here and they did a really great job of food preparation because my 5 way looked awesome and was just as tasty. The mini coneys are always fun and delicious. Ask for a bib, just do it! As I was waiting in the drive-thru, I realized I was wearing a white shirt and just knew I needed to take extra precautions while eating my meal. So, I ate my meal hunched over the console that dubbed as my table. Wouldn't you know, I still got chili on my shirt! It's located right off the interstate and is super convenient to grab a fast meal on the go despite the fact that it's not exactly finger food. Many of us Lexingtonians stop here on our way to Cincinnati. It's about the halfway mark between the two cities. In Lexington, we have Gold Star Chili. Some might say that there's no comparison, but I think the two are very similar. If you want to see for yourself, this Skyline location is the closest to Lexington. I ordered a chili cheese fry to go along with my small 3-way. First off, the 3-way was anything but small and would've been plenty enough to make up for my meal. The oyster crackers and finely shredded cheese both came on the side. Let's just say that the portion of cheese was so much that if you're even slightly lactose intolerant, you should only use a quarter of the portion that they give. The chili cheese fries were horrible though. I will disclose that I like my fries on the crispy side, so the consistency of the chili sopped fries, were way too soggy for my liking. I've heard that some prefer floppy fries (no friends of mine) so if that's your thing, you're in luck. read more

Quick stop off the 75. Ordered the 3 way (skyline chili, cheese, and onion or beans over spaghetti). I ordered a small size and lite on the cheese. The size was a nice snack portion and lite cheese still had a lot of cheese so I can't imagine what regular would be like. They also give you oyster crackers to snack on while you wait for your food to arrive. The food came relatively quick and service was good. They had an open kitchen. Everything is already made and there's an assembly line to put your order together. Pretty efficient process. Really good comfort food. read more
