** Need to update my review. This time I went through the drive-through and ordered a large three-way, along with two cheese and chili cones. When I picked up the container, I thought there is no possible way this is a large size that I ordered, but looking up upon the receipt that is what I was charged for. However, after doing some research online, apparently I'm not the only one noticing they have totally shrunk the portion size down to what looks like a children's meal! On top of that, my chili cheese cones didn't have cheese on them. Very disappointed, that they have reduced the size and raise the price on their three-way. Me and my family went to skyline chili in Gahanna and it was an awful experience. The waitress never smiled once. She never came back asked if we needed anything or ever gave us a refill on our drinks. I ordered the chicken tenders for my son, and they brought me out or look to be scraps of chicken and only one tender, I complained to management and he said this is how it is, because it's based on weight. I ordered the chili cheese coney and all the cheese melted and it was not hot. It was just a terrible experience. Would NOT recommend. read more

Wow! I was craving Skyline. You have no idea how much you miss it when you move to another state. I was greeted by my server, Tyler. He was friendly and kept my Pepsi filled. I was very pleased with how the crew got along. They operated like a well oiled machine. My chili coney dog was perfectly prepared puked high with cheese yum!! I also had to have a small 3 way skyline chili. Such a perfect size for lunch with a coney dog. Yes!! I loved the mountain of cheese on that too. They establishment was clean, people were promptly seated and attended to. Food was sheer perfection. Thanks so much for Tyler checking on me through my visit. I was really thirsty. I am beyond disappointed. I was one of two customers in the dining room and no one came to take my order. One person came to bring me a drink and told me she was not my server. I can understand if it were busy or they were short staffed. This was not the case. I counted 10 employees and no one thought to tell someone I had not ordered. We love Skyline and visited a location in Gahanna before an appointment and we will never go there again. It wasn't that busy and the two servers there completely ignored us for 10 min. The cashier took our drink order and another 15 min and no waitress. We finally had to go up and order ourselves which was fine but the service was horrible. After we ordered one of the waitresses actually came and gave me my bill before the food. That was our first interaction with her. My first visit here during a recent business trip to the area, we'll overdue. I've been meaning to try Skyline but just never had the opportunity in the past...and what a regret. This place is AMAZING! I was greeted from behind the counter as soon as I walked in, and was directed to grab any available table. Almost immediately, a very friendly young lady stopped by and asked if I knew what I was having. I let her know it's my first time, and she enthusiastically grabbed a menu and suggested a Coney Dog and a 3-way spaghetti. I took her lead and man, it was just so damn delicious. The Coney was on a super soft, fluffy bun and piled with chili, mustard, and habanero cheese. The 3-way spaghetti, I wish I would've ordered a larger portion. I'm in town for another 2 nights, and I know where I'm going for lunch tomorrow. Was almost tempted to order in tonight if Uber Eats wasn't charging $7.50 for delivery. Smh. read more

Love skyline have for a long time. The management and stuff is great the food is good and service is generally speaking good. However, my first time coming to this one I had a waitress that appeared to hate her job, disrespectful and even after asking what I wanted 4 times still got it wrong. I let it slide assuming she was just having a bad day. I went there today and had a great experience. But the lady that previously served me cut two of us off at the door while we were exiting and couldn't even say excuse me, just absolutely rude and really goes you all a bad representation. This may be one of the best Skyline Chili franchise locations in the city. I try to avoid going there to often to avoid expanding my waste-line beyond the normal operating parameters of my belt collection, but every time I do, I always experience the following: - Quality, well-cooked grub composed of absolutely consistently good Cincinnati-style chili (and cheese, of course). I make that clarification becasue I know chili can mean something different to a lot of people, but I go to Skyline with my eyes open on what I'm going to get, and it's always very good. - A practiced warm welcome that despite it's obvious roots in being corporately mandated, still feels genuine. - Seasoned wait staff that work quickly, efficiently, and are particularly friendly. Seriously on the last point. To echo Catharine P's review from a year ago, the staff here are simply top shelf. The service here rivals even some fancier, conventional restaurants in town. You're treated not just with kindness or professional decorum, but with *respect*. You can genuinely sense the respect. I suppose it just stands out. Every dollar spent here feels well-spent. Plus, if you're in a rush, grabbing a barstool at the front lets you watch all the magic happen while chatting with the kitchen staff a bit and affords you a fast in-and-out experience. There's always the drive-thru, but honestly, that's not the best way to experience anything that involves chili, in my opinion. Solid pick if you're in the neighborhood or just passing through. We visited my Fiancé's family from Christmas through New Year's and ate out nearly everyday. We had wanted to check out Skyline, as we were visiting Ohio, and our visit did not disappoint. The service we got at this location was better than two Cameron Mitchell restaurants and Wolf's Ridge Brewing Company. Our waitress Melanie had to be in the top 1% of servers I've ever had; charming, speedy and professional. The Greek salad was very fresh and had a ton of feta cheese. As it turns out Skyline Chili is a must try when visiting Ohio. As a California native I didn't quite get it at first, but I would be lying if I didn't say I've been craving it since I got home. Basically, this is an experience that consists of a lot of cheddar cheese and chili piled on to many different things - burgers, hot dogs, noodles and even fries. I mean you really can't go wrong with all these cheese! My favorite and one of their most popular dishes is the chili over noodles - 3 Ways. The Coney's are also a must try - they steam the hotdog bun and make the dogs special. The chili itself is very unique to the mid west - it has a strong hint of cumin for sure. I have been coming to this restaurant for over 20 years. Not a joke. I had birthdays here when I was a little girl and seriously the service and food has not changed. The servers are always exceptional and want to make sure you are having a great time. They truly treat you like family and check in on you throughout the meal to make sure that you are enjoying everything. The food itself is also consistently good. I love Skyline! I'm a Cincinnati native so when the food is done right, this place rocks. My review is specifically for this location which seems to have taken a nose dive on service and quality food because my last three visits here have not been great. Dining in our poor server was the only one working, he was slammed. We understood the situation, but instead of accepting it, the server kept messing up, not listening to orders, and making excuses for the situation. I hope that he learns how to deal with pressure and make the best out of a clearly crappy situation. Like remembering to bring the check with food instead of making multiple trips or checking out multiple customers at once so they're not waiting on you while you service everyone else. The last two visits were through the drive-thru and literally they have stopped putting chili on anything. I've pictured a chilito and chili cheese sandwich, both of which chili is the star and you can see there is none. They've added cheese which is great, but the ratio is way off. I frequent this Skyline often with my husband. It's a great cheap eat! The servers are always friendly and the manager comes around to every table to make sure everything is good. The first time I walked into this skyline location a few years ago was only the second time I had been to a skyline ever. My wife was shopping nearby and I needed to kill some time. I figured I would go in to ask if they had a vegetarian chili option. What happened next was the difference between good and great service. First off, I walked in and was immediately greeted by several employees behind the counter. I asked my intended question and to my surprise, I was offered a free sample of their infamous 3-way chili, with veggie black bean chili!! Although we were on our way out to dinner at the time, I graciously accepted. That experience set the tone of this Ohio chili chain for me. Not surprisingly, I took my wife back there a short time later and we each enjoyed a black bean and rice vegetarian 3-way, which includes spaghetti noodles, the veggie chili, and a generous amount of shredded cheddar cheese on top. I enjoy the fact that this item is listed on the menu and not hidden or shrouded in mystery, as some chain restaurants tend to do with their vegetarian options. I'll also note here that although they do not have veggie dogs (suggestion box?), they do offer a "veggie sandwich" which is a chili cheese dog without the dog and of course the veggie chili. It's actually worth trying! I would get it again for a quick snack. Last night, after running errands for several hours with our two small daughters, we picked a couple of veggie 3-ways to go. We do live a good 25- 30 minutes from this location, but my wife was quick to remind me of last time I brought some home and well it warms up. So we went for it. The girls had already eaten, so we thought we were in the clear. As soon as my 1 year old had a look and a sniff, she was begging for some. She loved it! But the best part? Our food was still warm by the time we drove home, unpacked the kids, put one to bed, and sat down. And the cheese, which they package separate for you when you order to go, melted perfectly on top! Nothing but good experiences here. We both agreed that next time we need something quick on the go for the whole family, it'll be skyline chili. read more

There is not much more to say apart from what others have already said. This place is pretty solid. For those who are not familiar with Cincinnati style chili, it is a little different from Texas style chili. Finely ground beef sauce with hints of chocolate and cinnamon. Traditionally served over a bed of spaghetti and then topped with cheese, lots of cheese. This is known as a "3-way" in Cincy chili speak. Get your mind out of the gutter. You can also get the chili and cheese topping on top of a hot dog; known as a "Cheese Coney." You can also get the toppings on top of fries, in the form of a burrito, in a bowl, etc. my two favorite forms are the 3-way and cheese coney. I get both with onions on top (which makes the 3-way into a 4-way) and "Xtreme" which is Skyline speak for subbing mild cheddar cheese with habanero cheese. Me likey. For those who are uninitiated (like I was when I first moved to Cincinnati eons ago), it was an acquired taste at first but I became a fan after a while. Brutal slow drive thru. And it's not the person it's how close they have the order taking menu and microphone to the pickup window. Poor design.. they can't take more than 3 orders at a time before they start getting back up. I was told by so many Ohioans Skyline was amazing.. outsider tip Ohioans.. should not be using Skyline chili stories to impress people outside of Ohio. Lol. The food is Unimpressive and significantly over priced. The pricing on the menu is not straightforward either which at this point I feel is a money making tactic. Like things you might want or are suggested to order aren't on the menu or don't have pricing on the menu. Next time my little girl asks for a Hotdog it looks like we'll be going to the grocery store. She by the way didn't finish her hotdog because she didn't like it. Since being back in Ohio, I've learned to LOVE Skyline again. I hadn't been there in years and came to this location over a year ago for an Elite Yelp event. I've been back a few times after that. The staff is friendly and the food is excellent! I mean, it's not complicated food.....but is so good! I generally get a regular 5-way with 2 chili dogs (since they're small). Second time I ever tried one of these hotdogs. I hated it the first time. I tolerated it this time. Maybe they're just making them wrong when I show up?? Everyone raves about them but I just dont get it. I've heard you either love them or hate them, and if you hate them they're just making them wrong. Idk. I tried it with the hot sauce this time, like they suggest, which made it much better but only tolerable to eat for me. The chili needs the heat, simple. It's horrible without it, even if you dont like heat you would agree it needs it. The hot dogs are still my issue. They taste like soggy disgusting nasty.... they're boiled I guess... or steamed.... they have no consistency other then squishy. Born and raised in Cincinnati, Skyline Chili is in my blood and I'm so thankful for this Gahanna location. Wednesdays are kids' night which is awesome because kiddos eat free and they get a new craft activity every week. The food is the same great quality as always and most of the staff here feel like friends. Even better, they remember our orders each week and are quick to serve our every need. I have only been through the drive thru of this location, but at least half the time the order is incorrect, unfortunately. They will only sometimes ask if you want crackers and hot sauce and when they do, it's more common that they completely forget. I just had lunch there today and my order was not only wrong, but go figure...no hot sauce or crackers even though the young girl at the drive thru window asked me if I wanted any and I said yes to both. Never had any issues with the food tasting bad or any horror stories like a hair in it or anything, just some simple service issues that tend to happen. Thank you fancy phone and Interwebs on said fancy phone for finding this location pretty close to the airport. - Pretty much everything I had hoped for - Cheesy, flavorful, not-too-greasy, chili-y goodness on top of spaghetti - If you don't want bad breath, don't get onions (they use a lot) - I think maybe I saw salads on the menu -- AND I LAUGHED - You can't eat here often -- unless you dig your own grave - Great service (didn't know it was sit-down) - The chili has some rather overwhelming hints of cinnamon (and cardamom?).....both of which I love but I don't feel like they have a big place in this kind of chili (and don't match with cheddar cheese). Waitress was excellent and very interactive with my son. Very clean dining room! Food was great as always and quick service. Starts to get busy around 630pm. I wish their hot dogs weren't so small because they are tiny as heck. Alot of regulars come here. Always nice to see things like that. Makes you feel like family. Not bad, not bad at all! This Cincinnati-based restaurant chain has successfully introduced their original chili and spaghetti recipe into America's mainstream fast food industry. As far as fast food goes, this is a great change of pace. The dining room decor is retro much like an old-style diner. It's a bit noisy because of all the tile, but it definitely adds energy to the ambiance. Their chili is not as dangerously spicy as some chilis are concerned, so don't worry. It won't kill you. Their pasta leaves a little to be desired. It's thick spaghetti and usually a bit overcooked, but they pour so much chili, beans, onions and cheese over it that you really can't tell. I prefer my 5-Way Chili & Spaghetti inverted. That's right - served upside down. It's not as messy and easier to enjoy. I highly recommend it. I also like their Coneys - small hot dogs smothered in cheese and/or chili. Good stuff. For a slightly healthier choice, I love their Greek Salad. I usually get the dressing on the side, because too much dressing can ruin any salad. If you're looking for a real change of pace in the fast food arena, Skyline Chili is a great option.
