Devlin's installation of a Tesla Powerwall at our Cape Cod home succeeded but was a complicated…read more experience. Of the dozen installers Tesla recommended (after two years on Tesla's waiting list), only Devlin responded offering a quotation. Their price was compatible with the general install market (well known to be overpriced). The sales process was quick and offered us responsive opportunities to customize the installation. The move to installation planning and scheduling would have failed of its own accord due to turnover of staff and their chronically ignoring emails and voicemails. No one ever picked up a phone. Using extraordinary strategems for five months we were finally able to secure an install date but it was cancelled the afternoon before the promised date. A second promised date months later was also aborted during the afternoon before the promised date. In both cases this was because the schedulers had not secured a battery when they committed to a date. As we had already paid more than $16,000 eight months before, we had to invest more extraordinary effort to secure an install within the tax year to obtain our tax credit. When Devlin secured a battery the installation turned out to be technically and artistically excellent. We are very pleased with the result, though owners have to read up and think carefully about how to configure the Powerwall's charge/discharge configuration, which is not explained, not transparent, and not intuitive. With these caveats we conditionally recommend Devlin so long as the intending customer fully understands the lengthy and strenuous effort required to complete an install, given the marked contrast between the firm's technical and management competencies evidenced by our experience. Difficult as the experience was, we would never have been able to install the Powerwall had Devlin not bid on the project. We have corresponded with the owner who is aware of these problems and who may move to resolve them going forward.

SO AWFUL!! Completely untrustworthy liars. I made an appt for a $49 "service call" for Friday,…read moreand actually moved/cancelled all my patients for that day to make it work, as that was their first available time. I'm re-doing the kitchen, need an electrician to bring it up to code-- and I wasn't sure exactly what I needed done. (Because they need to know.) I called 3x the week before to confirm the appt. Two days before the scheduled appt they ask me to move it up a day, to Thurs, the next day. I say fine-- thankfully I had cleared that day too. I then hold off doing work on my floor so the electrician will be able to walk on it the next day. I ask if the electrician will be able to do any work on this "service call" but I now hear that the "service" described is just giving a quote. The receptionist says she'll find out if any other work can be done. I'm surprised that the appt wasn't booked with this in mind, as I had requested. Anyway, she calls me back when I'm in the middle of work, and says she needs to hear back by 4pm (in 10 minutes!) whether I still want the appt. Then she calls the next morning to say that appt is gone, as is the Fri appt! At this point, I don't trust this company AT ALL. I never said I didn't want the appointment. An appt had been scheduled. If someone calls the customer to say "I need to hear from you in the next 10 minutes or I'm not coming tomorrow" that is pretty outrageous. Perhaps worst of all was hearing her lies defending this unprofessional, unreliable, deceitful practice the next morning when she informed me she cancelled. She said she'd been trying to reach me. If this were true, why was I not informed every (any?) time I called? This is not the way to run a business. Also, requiring that the customer know exactly what is necessary before booking an appointment is not the way to run a business. Charging $49 for a quote but calling it a "service call" is not the way to run a business. Nor is lying. But moving and then cancelling an appointment capriciously, with ridiculous rationalizations, is so disrespectful and unprofessional. DO NOT TRUST THESE PEOPLE. It messed up my work schedule, and my whole kitchen remodel schedule, delaying it at least a week. In the future I'll call an electrician who can answer my questions directly, book his own appointments, is straightforward and honest, and doesn't charge for a quote and call it a "service call."

We had a Sunbug system installed in 2019, and until this year I would have rated them 4-5 stars…read more The system was a good value and the sales and installation process back in 2019 were positive. But in January we noticed that one of the panels wasn't producing. We contacted Sunbug's service department, who did some remote diagnostics and hypothesized that the issue was caused by a faulty optimizer. They said it would be a few weeks before they could visit to perform the service, so we anticipated seeing them in February or March. After 6 weeks of radio silence, we followed up and were told they had us scheduled for April 14. The day the service was scheduled, we were informed that another job was taking too long and they would have to reschedule for the following week. After a few more weeks of silence, we followed up again. This inquiry was ignored, so 10 days later we followed up again. This time they said there was no update -- they were just too busy to do the work or provide updates. I had asked if they could recommend a partner that might have more capacity to service and was told no but that I was welcome to shop around. I am sure demand for solar is very high and qualified technicians are hard to come by, but I can't think of another situation that has taken approximately 6 months (and counting) to resolve after an initial estimate of "weeks." And the lack of information and tone of annoyance at my monthly inquiries has been discouraging. I wish I could still recommend Sunbug, but I would caution that, at least as of this review, they seem overwhelmed and out of ideas for adding service capacity or communicating accurately about their ability to service their systems. Having operated a business during periods of peak demand and service disruptions, I can't overstate the value of proactive communication about the cause of an issue, the plan for improving the situation, and guidance about what to expect when. Silence and "Sorry, no update, feel free to look elsewhere," do not inspire confidence. We are actively seeking help from other service providers, but it looks like we are going to be stuck with a non-producing panel during the peak production season.
