My down-hill neighbor found these guys and set-up a site inspection to look at the work and provide a quote. Oscar was right on time, very friendly and knowledgeable and provided a good estimate of the work and schedule. His company ended up removing three huge pine trees, eight large eucalyptus trees, and trimming down six more. The work was on a steep slope, in between utility lines, and accessible only by walking in through the neighbor's property and up several flights of stairs. I requested that they leave the eucalyptus for our fire pit and Oscar's guys cut and stacked it in easy to manage lengths. The also provided some of the larger pieces to neighbors that requested them. They either chipped or hauled off all of the leafy branches and pine. I recently moved to San Marino and needed some trees cut ASAP in order for Spectrum to install internet service. Not knowing a licensed tree trimming company in the area, I turned to Yelp (of course!) and found Oscar and Sky's the Limit. I was impressed with the many 5-star reviews and decided to give him a call. Upon speaking with him, it was clear he deserves every single glowing review. Reason Sky's the Limit gets five stars from me (5 stars for 5 reasons): 1. He was incredibly responsive--not only was he able to come out that very same day (and within the hour), but he quickly gave me a (very reasonable) quote and we scheduled the service for a few days later. 2. I was told (by a Spectrum tech) that we needed to cut part of a gorgeous, ~100-year-old oak tree in order to run cables. When Oscar came out, he immediately disagreed, telling me that he did not feel comfortable cutting into such a beautiful tree and he proposed a different solution--saving me potentially hundreds and also preserving the life and value of the tree. He truly cares about not only the trees themselves, but for the value and aesthetics of your property! 3. He and his crew showed up on time, were quick to complete the job, and cleaned up the area impeccably and removed all debris and cut branches--you'd never know they had been there if it wasn't for the cleaned up yard! 4. The price that he quoted me upon initial consultation was very reasonable (given scope of work and the short turn around time) AND he stuck with it. So many times contractors will "get in there" and find extra things that end up jacking up the cost of the job. Not Oscar--what he says upfront is what you pay. So rare! 5. After completing the job, he mentioned to me that he smelled gas at the back side of the house, something that we hadn't noticed before. Called the gas company and sure enough, we had a leak! If you ever need a good, licensed tree trimmer who knows and loves trees... Oscar came out for the original estimate. I told him what I wanted, and he gave me suggestions about what could be done. I asked more questions, he heard my concerns, and he told me what else he could do to meet my needs, and still protect the tree. He wouldn't cut it back as much as I wanted him to, and he was absolutely right. I asked him if I should have it trimmed next year, and he said that was too soon, should be done no sooner than two years. I rarely review, but HAD to. We had a giant tree branch fall from a tree that had been partially pruned. It magically landed in the only space on our deck that it could have without busting the roof, windows or new deck fencing. We were relieved but faced two problems. 1. We couldn't remove the 12 sq. foot piece of tree ourselves and 2. There were a couple of similar branches still looming above. I checked out three licensed contractors during Christmas time to prune 6 trees in the front yard, remove a dead tree and stump, prune two fruit trees in the backyard, and remove overgrown from my neighbor's backyard. I caught him just in time to drop the mulch in my driveway (for free) -- I'm going Low Water and needed lots of mulch to cover my lawn. I then asked him to do some work on my old Silver Maple, which has 2 beehives (which I found out thanks to Oscar). His team did a great job working around the hives - I did not want to have the hives removed; but, I did not want them to take an unnecessary risks either. They were able to do some trimming and I was VERY HAPPY. I am putting his card in my rolodex for next year. Hopefully the bees will have moved on! My trees look great! Oscar and his team did a wonderful job trimming my front and back yard trees, and even taking out a really big, old, ugly jade plant. Excellent service! It took a few days to return my call, but it had been raining (which I understood) and he apologized for being out sick. It happens. He came out gave me an estimate and his guys were able to come out next day. His crew took down a tree that was leaning over where the roots were coming out. He also trimmed 2 larger trees and gave me clearance around the house. His prices are reasonable and they took about a hour and cleaned up afterwards hauling the debris away. I had about the world's largest Ficus tree to be removed. About 85' tall as well as 85' wide. Oscar and his crew are trustworthy in all respects. He is honest and understands the financial impact for the homeowner to have serious tree cutting services. He bids low (and keeps it low) and takes pride in his team's work. As a result, his calendar is frequently full. I had to wait more than two weeks because so many other people wanted him at the same time. They put up protective cones early to reserve street space and organize the equipment to be safe for traffic. They identify ahead of time what you need to move out of the area to prevent damage, and they move out other items as appropriate to protect the homeowners items from damage. They set up protective canvas on all walls of the home which may come into contact with branches/leaves as they are removed. They know how to rope and cut branches which overhang into neighbor yards in a way that keeps it on your side, and without breaking the fence in the process. Everything was well done. They practice all the safety measures you would expect. They work hard and carefully, and are respectful people. I enjoyed having them work for me. The company is fully licensed, bonded, and insured.
