As an Emerald member with the one World alliance, I have always received complimentary seat selection on partner airlines. That changed with Royal Jordanian. I paid $140 for two seats that were clearly shown as a two seat row. When my wife and I boarded, we discovered the row actually had three seats. No one pays extra for a middle seat -- ever. My seat number was k6 and the seat has no cushion whatsoever, I had to stack pillows and blanket to prevent back pain Most incompetent company I've had to deal with. Called someone in Detroit to get information about the plane and flight, he gives me another number to call I believe it was in Chicago. I call that number, another person tells me we don't handle this, you have to call another number. Called that number, that person gave me the original Detroit number. I called Detroit back, another person answers and gives me the information I was asking to begin with. Not done yet. I finally check in and get on the plane, plane was gorgeous and flight attendants for most part were very hard working. Half the people on this flight were idiots, loud, arrogant, dirty and bathrooms even after a couple hours in flight were dirty, urine on the floor, clogged up sinks. Absolutely disgusting!!!! Like a fourth world country on a top of the line plane. I will never ever fly Royal Jordanian again!!!! Would rather pay twice as much and get to Amman in 3 days then fly this airline. This review is for SkyWest's United Express arm. I recently took a flight operated by SkyWest Airlines. It was between San Francisco and Burbank, and back. On my way to SFO, I asked for a coffee and chugged most of it. The flight was so short that I had to give it back before landing! (The flight was literally a skip and a hop long.) It's been awhile since I've been on a commuter jet. In my sleep-deprived state, I commented, "Cute plane!" and then the flight attendant chirped back, "Aw, you're cute!" Friendly staff on both legs of my flight. Clean plane. No Wi-Fi or little TVs, or anything like that, but planes will vary, I'm sure. read more

My ticket to Durango from Denver said United, but in reality I was on a SkyWest turboprop for my short hop across Colorado. These small planes can actually be quite roomy, at least in comparison to United and other Legacy airlines transformation into cattle cars. The original bovine airline (Southwest) is now almost luxurious in comparison. What I most remember about this flight is Gwenda the Flight Attendant. She was friendly, positive, helpful, respectful, and otherwise an absolute treat. I can't remember the last time I was so impressed by an airline employee, especially on a commuter run. I thanked her on the way out and was grateful that at least one airline employee made today's dehumanizing business model just a little more cheerful and bright. read more

I worked for skywest not long but found that they treat their employees not well. They offer training and want you to be cleared to work within a month on 3 separate airlines (Delta, United & American) all before you feel safe to. They do not focus on safety or else their ramp areas would be free of debris, ground equipment, and misc. items. Their senior management in training or upper management leaves much to be desired. I wouldn't work for them again as they were ran very unorganized. The station manager is very new to the position. I would've had someone that has experience operating at the corporate office airport rather than someone with 3 years experience in customer service. I will fly out of other airports before I fly out of St. George, Utah and I live within minutes from this airport. Safety is overlooked, I have a degree in Emergency Safety, and this place of work is very unsafe. OSHA would have a field day at this location. I am glad that OSHA was never called out to do a safety inspection or fines would ensue. I would fly with someone else before giving skywest my money, take it from a former employee that has been in executive roles much greater than the small-mindedness of this location. read more

I had the unpleasant experience of traveling on a SkyWest flight (United flight by operated by SkyWest) from John Wayne airport to SFO. It was a commuter flight which I had no clue was gonna be on a rickety little airplane which wasn't even able to connect to a walkway. You had to walk outside, onto the tarmac and onto the plane. It was such a flashback to the 70s when I was a child traveling to 3rd world countries where even huge international flights didn't taxi all the way to the 'hub' where it connects to the inside of the airport. You had to disembark the airplane, hop on a shuttle bus (which in our case didn't happen) and be transported to the premises. In our case, from John Wayne, we had to get onto the tarmac and get on this very narrow stair case into the plane. There were 2 seats on either side and some of the taller men had to duck as they would've hit their heads on the top of the plane. Yes ladies and gentlemen, it was what one would call a ghetto-ass plane. The seats are super small and thank god I was seated next to a middle-aged skinny woman. If not I don't know what I would've done. During the last leg of the flight, I had to go to the bathroom but I just couldn't stand the thought of having to ask the poor lady to get up and stand in the already narrow walkway to let me pass. I thought I could make it to SFO. I was wrong. It was now too late. We were already preparing for landing. I was shaking my legs, tapping my feet, anything to distract myself from peeing on myself. Finally, when we landed, we still had a bit of a ways to taxi towards the terminal. I turned to the lady and said "excuse me, but do you think as soon as we are able, could you let me out quickly so I can run to the bathroom?" She replied "of course". We couldn't taxi fast enough. But naturally, as soon as everyone was able to move I had these 300 pounders standing in the walkway. I couldn't even move. I had to say "EXCUSE ME, can I PLEASE get to the bathroom?" Luckily the flight attendant was nice enough to go "you need the bathroom?" and move out of the way. It was so cramped he had to move into an aisle and almost sit on someone's lap for me to get through. Believe it or not, there was only one lavatory on that entire plane. I made it. But I prayed that my return flight wouldn't be on one of these. Thankfully it wasn't, it was on a regular airplane.... but then it was delayed. Nothing every goes smoothly when you're flying does it? 1 star for the entire experience but I gave an extra for the fact that there was no turbulence and I didn't pee on myself. read more

In addition to flying for United, SkyWest also operates a number of Delta Connection flights. And when looking at your ticket, it's not completely clear. But if you look closely, you're codeshared onto this other carrier. Yes, it's a single itinerary. Yes, they'll move your luggage from Delta main line to SkyWest. Yes, they'll have the Delta magazine on board and the Delta food options. And if it's a two-class aircraft, they'll have the Delta wifi on board too. SkyWest operates smaller aircraft. I call them "lawn darts." They are the Embraer and Canadair regional jets. The worst is the CRJ200 which is narrow and tight and I find it very uncomfortable. There is no good seat on that plane. The least bad is in row 1 where you have the privilege of getting off first. That's it. Today's fun is a four hour delay where I get to spent bonus time in Atlanta because SkyWest has issues with the inbound aircraft. Suck. read more

Start using 737's from LAX to LAS on Friday, Saturdays, and Sundays, so you stop overbooking passengers and they get to their destination on time. Rather than those puny jets that you know don't hold a lot of passengers especially when there are weight/ hot temperature load concerns. If you need a competent mathematician to figure this out, there are plenty of unemployed MBA's and PhD's available to consult with you on this. First, it brings you more revenue, which helps your income statement :) Start buying jet fuel from Delta Airlines, sounds like they know what they're doing. read more

For the third time in a row, the Skywest team in SFO has managed to foul things up. My wife takes the same flight from SMF to ROA and back to visit family. Since the merger of Continental and United, the route structure and customer care have gone down the proverbial toilet. That notwithstanding It seem that in order to get back to SMF, she has to fly through SFO. They have lost her bags twice and on every occasion, managed to delay her flights 3 hours at a minimum. Understand SFO is only 1.5 hours drive. My suspicion is that they cancel flights if it isn't as full as they would like, placing their preferences above their paying passengers. Calling United does no good as they blame it on SkyWest. Try calling SkyWest and there's no one to get through to discuss your frustration. Now, I used to be a pilot for a commuter airline so I'm not speaking out of ignorance but these folks are infuriating to say the least with indifference and incompetence close behind. This merger had taken those of us with One Pass status and dumped us in the middle of United's mess. Unfortunately, they have anyone with one pass miles by the short hairs. I sincerely hope someone from SkyWest reads this and finds out what the hell is going on at SFO. read more
