We were at Slainte in April & 06/12/26 before shows at the Paramount. We've been going for nearly 2 years for a meal before shows & we were always very happy with the food. The last 2 times it has declined. The food didn't taste as good as prior meals. The a/c wasn't working yesterday which made it very uncomfortable. The food still wasn't that good. Appitizers: Mac and cheese is homemade and has a nice taste, the cheese and panko are a great combination, the portion size for an appitizer was great and could be enough as a meal in itself. The Irish latkas have a nice flavor and the potato/cheese mix was really good, add in that onion and bang you have an amazing flavor. I would have liked it to be a little more crispy. Let's talk main courses: we had a variety of food ranging from burgers to steak. The fries are fresh cut and cooked to a nice crisp. The burgers were cooked to order and from what I was told had nice flavor. The roast beef sandwich was fantastic. Cooked to perfection and the cheese was a great hit. The sliders were cooked right and had nice flavor with the onions and cheese The hush puppies were ok very fishy flavor. The skirt steak was cooked to perfection and I got fries instead of mashed and enjoyed it very much. The Buffalo wings have a little kick nothing over the top. My daughter liked them but said it could be a little hotter. Dessert is missing, they have a ice cream sundae and that was all. The ambiance is a relaxed bar like atmosphere. The first floor can be pretty loud. They have plenty of tvs on the walls. The seating is alot of hightops, upstairs has a few tables and a little quieter then downstairs. Service is ok, not sure if the delays with the kitchen being a busy Saturday night or the fact that we were upstairs and had to keep running up and downstairs. read more

I stumbled upon this place before hitting the Paramount. It was amazing! We ordered the curry bao buns to start and a poutine. Both were really delicious, especially the poutine with the corned beef and gravy! Yum! But... The showstoppers we're the smash burgers! We ordered the Harrison and the Ewan with crispy bacon And homemade pickles. Both were exceptional, perfectly cooked, juicy and dripping with deliciousness! $25 for Two Coronas?!? I stopped in expecting a chill drink with friends, not to get hit with steakhouse prices for two beers. $25 for two Coronas -- no specials, no live music, no rooftop view. Just a regular bar charging luxury prices for something that costs $5 at a bodega. I get inflation, I get markups -- but this felt more like a scam than a splurge. The staff didn't mention any service charge or pricing beforehand, which makes it feel even worse. If you enjoy overpriced drinks and surprise charges, maybe this place is for you. Otherwise, save your money and go somewhere that respects its customers. read more

Well we went back for a second time and my husband loved his meal - pit beef sandwich. I ordered the chicken sandwich and it was terrible. Their curry didn't go with the sandwich at all and I thought it was just the curry so I brought it home for my pups. But it was grayish and I wasn't about to feed it to them either so the garbage can ate it! It was a greasy overcooked mess. If your chicken sandwich isn't better than Popeyes do yourself a favor and take it off the menu. read more

We hosted our wedding rehearsal dinner, welcome party, and after party at Slainte last June. When I tell you that they ended up being our favorite vendor, I am not kidding. We were scrambling near the end because the place we'd originally booked with fell through. Slainte stepped up and truly delivered (even creating decorations for the welcome party). We had some situations arise where we needed subtle support and Slainte employees went above and beyond to make sure that we had a great time. Incredibly professional, looked out for us, always checked in with us, and everything ran so smoothly. They were also extremely accommodating for my vegan food preferences. Place is ok. Went before a show at the Paramount. Waitress was very sweet and friendly. Bar took a long time to get the drinks out. Food was your typical bar grub which was fine! Our booth seat was broken so that was kinda annoying. read more

1st visit to this bar/restaurant b4 a show at the Paramount which is conveniently around the corner and had drinks and food which were served promptly, bartender was very good but the food, a Corned Beef Reuben was inedible, it wasn't even a fatty type CB but it was 2 slices of sinewy tough CB that could barely be bitten through and ripped apart! I showed it to the bartender and she agreed that it wasn't very good looking, eventually it was taken off the bill. Very very disappointing that the cook couldn't tell the difference between cuts of CB especially in an Irish establishment. Never order that one again‼ read more

I ordered 2 pints on Draught. I paid for each beer with cash, one at a time. The total, with tax, came out to $9.80 per beer. I paid with a $20 bill and got a $10 bill back. What happened to the change that I was owed? It must have gone back into the register or the bartenders tip jar because I didn't get my money back (even after leaving gratuity). The bartender was a female with a European accent. Keep the $0.40, and I will take my business and money elsewhere. Not only is this move unethical, but it is also illegal. I had apparently hurt the owner's feelings and cried "on the internet" about the issue. Instead of blaming the customer, he should work on his employees' lack of integrity and steeling customer's money. He can call me a crybaby, but if the employees weren't thieves, and the owner took accountability, he wouldn't have to call me any names at all. read more

Came on a Sunday. Unfortunately, we found the music noise level too loud. Could not have a conversation at all. Also limited booth seating. We ended up at high top table which was difficult as the are so close together. We saw an empty booth and went to sit in it but was told it was reserved. My understanding is you could not make reservations so ow does someone reserve a table. Very disappointed as I had been wanting to try out this new pub . Do not see myself coming back. I called last Saturday early afternoon to make a reservation for the same evening 6:30 for 4 people. We had never been to the restaurant and were unaware of the seating arrangements. A young woman took the reservation including my name and telephone number. When we got there we were told there was NO reservation. The only seating available was high top which we could not use bc one of us is disabled. They offered to send us to a sister restaurant not the same menu with plenty of seating available. This was our first time here. Service was pleasant and the food was decent, perhaps a bit under seasoned. The sandwiches were enormous and we got our money's worth in terms of volume. The poutine was underwhelming though. The place was busy and seems popular; expect it be loud with a tad overpowering music for the middle of the day. The one odd issue with the place- the booths are so big and the table so far from the fixed seats that anyone under 6' will probably be stretching themselves to eat. It's a poor design. Came in on Saturday early evening with my girlfriend. The place was crowded due to an event happening at the Paramount Theatre around the corner. People were getting their before show dinner/drinks. Luckily the wait was not long. Sat at the center of the bar and this seemed to be the problem. There were 5 or 6 servers behind the bar, buzzing around like bees, tending to each end of the bar, yet we had to flag down someone each time we needed service. Everyone to our left and right were being waited on. We did manage to get in our drink and app order...the cod hush puppies. Awful. They came out overdone and tasted like nothing more than fried dough with a ton of dill. We should have returned it but that would have probably taken another 25 mins. I do have to say the decor is nice, the music was good, albeit way too loud. Around 9:15 a younger crowd came in and the music changed drastically. Not my vibe at all. So is this place a restaurant or a nightclub or both??? I might give it one more try at happy hour during the week. Hope the service is better then. read more
