After much consideration I would like to update my review. My main issue with this restaurant was the way that i was treated by two of the waitresses. I have since discussed my issue further with the management and came to a civil agreement. The bands that they have at Mohansic grill are top notch. Hey its a Golf Course Restaurant. Lets keep the reviews in perspective. It's a laid back spot, low prices and friendly crowd. It is a low cost spot with pretty good grub and fun live music. If you want the Ritz, its not going to be $20 bucks. Great view, people, bands, and fun old school ambiance. Went with the biddies on a Friday night for the advertised Friday-Saturday buffet dinner. When thinking Golf Course lounge and grill I was expecting something a little more upscale but this was extremely casual and divey. Wait staff wasn't very friendly and our waitress took a while to come back to our table to check on us. I checked in on Yelp and saw a pop up for a free beer or glass of wine. I mentioned to the waitress and she took my phone to go ask someone else. Apparently it was the 'old management' that put that up but she was nice enough to still give me the beer on the house anyway. (Word up-- all the new owner needs to do is take the check in voucher off. It's not that hard.) Food on the buffet that night was New England BBQ with the typical burgers, hot dogs, ribs, chicken but also clams and mussels over linguine and some other various goodies. Found this stop in the way up to Shandaken to rent a house for some R&R. We ordered at the counter had some beers and mac and cheese bites to fill our empty tummies before a grocery stop. We love the view and sat outside on a nice day. The lady working the bar counter brought us our food to the table outside even though she was aine the day we stopped in. Went last night to hear a (great) band. Didn't have food but my friends who did said it was good - not amazing but it probably didn't need to be. Atmosphere was terrific. Stayed outside in the tent due to the size of our party - but the bar and tables inside looked cozy. Our waitress was pretty good considering she had at least 20 people clamoring for her attention. I've eaten here a few times and probaly one of the better "Golf Course Restaurants" I say that because reading other reviews people act like their reviewing a premium restaurant it's a bloody gold course calm down. I cant however give them 5 stars because food is mediocre, sometimes there menu good sometimes is lacking. Beer decent selection and mixed drinks are good. I enjoy gold course view. I'd caution people to.call ahead of your going late night for food because they have some horrid bands. A solid food chill spot for lunch though. read more

Worst experience EVER! This golf course robbed my whole family im getting the cops involved. They said be back before 10pm and my family had a $50 voucher towards the restaurant so we went golfing with this course. Ive never felt as distraught and neglected by a business as i have today, especially on fathers day while im visiting with my family. I am so disappointed in the service along with the poor communication. Y'all should think twice before you ruin an event and STEAL from your paying patrons. My second time here. The first was to hear a friends band and I spent most of the night in close proximity to the bar. Cold beer but there is not enough help behind the bar on this busy Saturday night. I can almost deal with it, but I check in on Yelp and I get an offer for free beer or mixed drink. I show it to the bartender who calls over someone else...quick conference and "sorry, we don't know anything about that". Huh? Fast forward a few weeks and a friend texts me to say they just finished a (half) round of golf and were hanging around for beers and food. So I pop over and find out it's open mic night with the attendant crowds to support their friends 2 song "sets". My friends have purchased a "9 & Dine", play 9 holes and get 10$ off your dinner check. And here's where the stars start to disappear. One guy says, "who needs a beer?" Gets told by another friend that they ordered from the waitress before we sat down, so friend # 1 goes to the bar and returns a few minutes later with 3 beers. We drink, chat, drink, laugh, drink, finish and the waitress still hasn't returned with friend # 2's order. Well, to not make this a War and Peace review, it took the group over 1 hour to get dinner (mostly burgers) and it was soooooo late that I was leaving before ALL the dinners had been delivered. TOTALLY DISORGANIZED. And even after an hour they couldn't get all the food out at the same time. I attended an 'event'. They were understaffed, so service was terrible - I ended up going to the bar to get served. I ordered wings to start, they sparingly dribbled hotsauce on them, no blue cheese (they had to make a batch which wasn't done before I was), and they tasted of fried fish - one of the menu items. We come as a large group to see local bands play but have to stop. The service is beyond bad. 2+ hours for food to come out. We had to get our own pitcher of water and cups. Drink orders are taken sporadically. I'm beyond done with this place. The dinner menu is nothing special to begin with and then you're treated like dirt. Went there Sunday night for a comedy night. Had the all you can eat BBQ. It was good, more than enough food. They had two carving stations, Sausage and peppers, ribs and chicken. What could be a cool local hangout with good music is being ruined by the lack of service and organization. We were half greeted by a very friendly woman (hostess) who was busier than a one armed paper hanger and were told to seat ourselves. We were asked if we wanted food but never were handed menus. Waited 20min for a waitress before deciding to go inside and get our own drinks at the bar. Asked the bartender if there was waitress service outside to which the answer was if you know what you want I can take your order here...we've never seen the menu! But then she declined citing that she didn't have her pad to take my order. Got the drinks and a menu and went back outside to wait yet another 40min before being acknowledged by a passing waitress who asked us if we needed help. At that point it was all I could take and we left. Do not get your hopes up for even par level service at this point. I wish I could have something positive to say about the food but waiting an hour was all I could take. Hopefully the management reads these and take a good look at the operation. This is a golf course restaurant. We play here often but never stayed for dinner. The previous review is correct, service is slow and disorganized. Food was surprisingly very good. We had fried calamari, chicken parmigiana and a Mohansic salad with shrimp. My husband said the marinara sauce was one of the best he ever had and he is a marinara sauce aficionado. Ambience is rustic, don't come here expecting a fancy dinner out. It was perfect for two starving people who just finished 18 hot and sweaty holes. We were here on a Saturday and the live music was very good. Price was very reasonable. $49 for the two if us. We would definitely eat here again after a round of golf. read more

We waited at least 15min for menus and only got them because my Dad went to get the waitress who turned out to the be the bartender. There was another young girl who delivered our drinks but nothing else. I could understand there were many golfers but if they had a full time waitress for the lunch time, it would have helped. They do advertise it's open to the public. When the waitress/bartender took our order she acknowledged one of us was celebrating our birthday - that did not help. In fact 2 other guys who ordered after us got served before us. Our food finally came out 35min later, fries were luke warm, my panini was dry and too crunchy, the burgers were not cooked to order. Took my family here on Saturday night and had a very pleasant experience. The place is warm and inviting, food is very good and the service is excellent. We started out with Irish Nachos and a Sam Adams draft and wife had a white zinfandel. I had the Mohansic burger which (with cayenne pepper and a coffee glaze) really worked and is a first for all my years as a burger fan. They had live music which was an excellent touch. wow, don't know what happened here: We came our first time to hear a local band...everything was terrific, out on the patio, loved our server, great food and music. Went second time, could not sit on patio but offered inside. Server only offered specials and a "buffet". We were her first table...don't know what that means, except we were barely looked after as others filled the room. We chose the buffet, essentially serving ourselves, but, really, drinks would have been nice. Will never do that room again...the noise level was off the charts, and I don't mean the music being played. The clencher, however, is that, when I made that reservation I also made one for the Mother's Day brunch. Their e-mail offered five choices from buffet, to steak/eggs, pancakes, burgers. When we arrived, we waited 5 minutes to be greeted at the station. As we were seated, the waitress (one of two for the whole area) tells us the menu was changed due to the overwhelming amount of reservations (this was 12 pm mind you): Only a buffet of French toast, eggs, bacon, sausage, potatos, chicken piccata and pasta vodka would be offered. Soup and chili and salad. Thank god unlimited mimosa for mom, yay. There were none of these options at 12 when we were there. A waitress kept saying more is coming. It was then piecemeal thereafter: Eggs came, put them on a plate, some sausage. Sat down. Tried again, bacon, really....par-cooked only, geez... no toast, a few pieces of bagel, another trip, some cut muffins...nothing to fill a plate was available all at once at the "buffet". I approached the waitress and asked for two mimosas at once, as I had not seen her since she showed us the table.... Now, I see this establishment provides a "regular" brunch on their menu..And I did not see every seat taken at this brunch. But it is Mother's Day and I would say an overabundance of staff and food would be a necessity as it is the busiest day. Honestly, I did not come to this brunch to have "breakfast" as I could have been served that at home. I don't think Mother's Day is a good time to switch your menu plan. One of the worst experiences from a service prospective I've seen in recent time. Waitresses didn't seem to be well trained, waited a long time for drinks and then dinner, a few of us ordered a burger with potato salad, they were out of potato salad, instead of asking us what we'd like instead they brought out burgers with cole slaw presuming the substitution without asking if we'd like fries, etc,. Someone in our party ordered chicken fingers, and what came out were these "fingers" that were about 1-2 inches long for $10., never have seen whatever they were presented as chicken fingers, that chicken must have been either just been born or severley malnourished. At the end of our dining experience we were completely ignored and had to chase after people for 15 minutes to get a check, our original waitress had disappeared for what seemed like an hour, we should have just left and no one would have even noticed.I am so tempted to call Visa and deny the charge but technically I have no grounds to do so. read more

My wife and I went to the Mohansic Grill last evening, primarily to see our son's band play. We were greeted warmly and shown to an excellent table to dine and watch the band. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive to our drink and food orders. The food was very good and reasonably priced. I would return and dine at the grill again. read more

This place should be ashamed of it's self. It is filthy dirty and looks as though no one has cleaned the carpet in 6 months. The blonde bartender was cute, but definitely not cute enough to be incompetent. We had to wait for her to stop flirting before she sat us at the one table in the bar. When we sat the table was clearly filthy with food and liquid on top, yet she simply put our menus on top of the filth. When we asked her to clean it she looked at us like we were Martians. Once she wiped it off, she took our menus and never brought them back. Next up was the parade of the ding-bat waitresses. No silverware, no sauce, etc. She kept looking over to the other waitress and asking her if she brought the items out. It was like who's on first, but played with tables. When our food finally came it was absolute garbage. The burgers were disgusting pre-made frozen patties that had no other taste than grease. The French fries were frozen crinkle cut fries that you can get for $1.00 a bag...disgusting. and for this they charged us $12.00. The other "meal" we got was grilled chicken on a roll with lettuce, tomato and bacon. The chicken tasted iffy and the lettuce was a questionable looking iceburg. I ate two bites, brought it home and immediately put it all in the disposal. So not only do you have crappy service, but you have an absolutely filthy place and terrible food; all at top rate prices. That dog won't hunt...we will never, ever go back. The only benefit to eating here would be to develop a tolerance for anti-biological warfare. read more
