The prices for waist beads range from $10-$15 each or 3 for $25 on select styles. The shop owner put the beads on for me and allowed me to keep the remainder that I plan to use as anklets. The place has been around for decades. Slauson Swapmeet is a place to get items for a great low rate. Long before social media, discount stores (like Dollar Tree, Big Lots, DDs, etc) you could go to your local swapmeet in LA and get all of things you needed along with barter a price if it was priced outside of your budget! [Parking & admission]: Giant free parking lot and the lot wasn't packed on Saturday afternoon. Free admission. [Vendors & atmosphere]: This swap meet is very similar to North Hollywood Swap meet, but one of the key differences is the security check upon entering at the Slauson Super Mall. Yes - the onsite security will check visitor's bags and perform a body scan via a hand-held metal detector. Well I can say that I've been coming here over 20 years, this place doesn't ever get better. As a matter of fact it is the unofficial official hood shopping spot. I do not buy anything from here anymore, I learned back in the day after buying pants that were really off id never buy product again. What I do come here for is the jewelry services. And no, I don't buy jewelry here. I do get batteries for my watches here. Though the prices are inching up, it is at the moment $10 for new batteries. I have a collection and some of the cheaper ones I have i go here to take care of that. Even though I dropped 3 of them off a month and a half ago, the covid lock down made it impossible to get them back and these people didn't answer the phone or reply to messages or let you know they were open. Anyway I got em and I don't have to go back any time soon even though I have about 7 more watches that need batteries. Having heard about the infamous slawson swap meet for so many years, I had to come check it out. Parking was tight, but we lucked up with a spot in the front. Note: there in one entrance and one exit. From the time we entered, I could tell the days of yore had long gone. There were a few jewelry counters at the entrance and a nail salon down the walkway.All the items within the space were pretty average, run of the mill, flea market/swapmeet gear. I did see some interesting assortments of crystals, sandals, bras, socks and exotic dance wear. The bathrooms were spotless and everyone was respectful with masks and staying socially distant. The vibe was pretty chill and everyone was nice. You can tell this is a neighborhood joint to pop in and grab random items at a good price. read more

LONG REVIEW ALERT! BUT IT'S WORTH IT! This is SPECIFICALLY for the airbrush business in the swap meet... and also for the customer service of the swap meet itself. I hadn't shopped here since the 90s so I wasn't clear on the hours... especially since covid. So I call. Immediately the phone attendant said "Slauson super mall.. we close at 7pm may I help you?" I said "Oh cool you just answered my first question." CLICK. He hung up! You can tell the difference between a hang up and a dropped call usually... but just to be sure I called back. He gave the same phone tag line, and I said.. "I just called. Did you hang up?" This fool said "You said I answered your question... so what is there more you want?" Biiiiiiitch! I was GASSSSED do you hear me?! I said... "How did you know that was MY ONLY QUESTION?! You're so rude honestly godddddamm! If you don't want to be in customer service, go work in a coal mine! No one to disturb you down there!" (Plus he'd be closer to home which I'm sure is hell) Then I got the sweet satisfaction of hanging up on him and returning that favor... not that I'm Petty Betty, but ninjas ain't shit. Lol. Knowing ninjas ain't shit should've kept me from going at all... but where can you find an airbrusher that will do skates? Read my lips... NO WHERE. Plus, each individual business inside the swap meet isn't run by customer service, but by their own owners so I figured it would be all good. I'd get my skates done and that would be that... and I'd stunt on them hoes old school style at the rink and live my best life! (At least, that was the plan). So I take my skates in and find the owner of the airbrush/ embroidery business named Frank. He explains that his main airbrusher didn't show up that day, but that he had another booth with two more artists in it down the hall (Frank owns both stores btw) and that I should go see his other artists. So I go. There are two guys in the booth... 1 Black 1 Hispanic. Ty is the name of the Black one... and I wished I remembered the Hispanic ones name because he's the MOST epic of all the fails and the reason why this whole thing went left. So I get there and the Hispanic guy is already dealing with a customer. He seems very enthusiastic which is great. That customer moves on, and I approach. He asks me what I would like & when I need my skates back... and I asked if they could have them done today which he said no. He said 3 days.. then change it to a week just to be safe. That's longer than I had hoped... but he guaranteed it, so I agreed. So we start GOING IN! Discussing the design, the color, he's asking me what font I want... and so forth and we're both so excited! He even DRAWS THE SKATES on a peice of paper to block out the design! Now mind you... the Black guy is sitting there listening (and flirting) and whatever... it's alllll good (literally) in the hood. He charges me $120 (CASH ONLY) and tells me they'll be ready in a week. He took my phone number on the receipt & design mock up so I figured all would be well. Smash cut to... a week later I go pick to up my skates and I walk up. Hispanic dude sees me and IMMEDIATELY looks nervous but tries to play it cool. Ty (Black guy approaches) and asks if he could help me. THEY BOTH KNOW WHO I AM BUT ARE PRETENDING THEY DON'T... lol.. soooooo the gaslighting meter is lighting up like Vegas. I say I'm there for my skates.. and I point at the Hispanic guy and say he took my order and would know where they were. Hispanic guy turns and looks at me and says "I don't do shoes.. sorry." Then TURNS HIS BACK TO ME and starts (while shaking) to airbrush some bullshit t shirt. I'm standing there... Black dude standing there. Awkward, boiling silence. I'm scanning the shop and I see my skates.. laying on the floor, huge dirt smudge on the right boot... untouched. IM BEYOND LIVID... I say that those are my skates and dude turns to grab them and brings them to me. I'm hotter than fish grease at this point... but I don't yell, as I'm not huge on making a scene. We go back n forth and neither of them can explain to me whyyyyyyy they weren't done or why they didn't call, as they had my number on the receipt. Hispanic guy actually says he doesn't remember taking the order, then changed his story to he was taking the order for the Black guy because he doesn't do shoes and blah blah blah all this bullshit about him having diabetes and needing to go to church to "get right" with God (seriously). At this point he's sounding like Charlie Browns teacher and I'm just imagining taking my skates, wrapping the laces around my hand and straight DOMING his lying ass and knocking him out and tearing up that whole mf store in that bitch. Now that I am an old man who can't find the things that I want in the Santa Anita Mall or the Glendale Galleria Mall I find the items that I want at the Slauson Super Mall. The prices are negotiable, of course, and everything I've purchased is pretty good quality. I had a massage here and that was well-priced and relaxing. Well, as relaxing as it can be considering you're in a swap meet on a massage table. This is a one-stop shop and I love it! Today, they were doing Covid testing and vaccine outside in the parking lot. Just a sign of the times....... I came here to get my sterling silver Larimar bracelet fixed. The prices were outrageous but I needed to get it done. I was quoted $40 to fix a bangle bracelet and a jump hoop that needs to be soldered. I decided to go to other booths to compare pricing and the price was all the same and I figured if I had it done in the mall or at a jeweler it would be even more expensive. Never shop at the shoe store you first see when entering the "super mall" under the awning that says 1. I posted a picture so you know which shop to avoid. I specifically came to buy a pair of pleaser shoes. Pleasers cost 60-100$. I tried on a couple of pairs and the owner told me I couldn't try on any more. He said they are all the same. Obviously he has never worn high heels cause they are not all the same comfort wise. I chose a pair to buy because The last one he "allowed" me to try on were comfortable. I went to the register and told him that he should be nicer to customers but that I would still purchase the shoes. He said "if you don't like it never come to my store again."
