Frankie arrived at my residence after he rescheduled my appointment and attempted to reschedule it a second time. He spent 10-15 minutes assessing the problem and indicated 1 valve was out. He charged $100. Frankie then let me know that he would have to dig up all the valves in the valve box so he could replace the affected valve. In order to access the valve box he said he would need to cut down a mature tree to gain access. There would be a charge to cut down the tree. He quoted an estimate of $1400 and said he could "work me in" on the weekend. The situation had an unfavorable feel to it. I decided to seek a second opinion in spite of Frankie's discussion about how waiting to repair the valve would jeopardize my entire lawn. It took a bit to find a company because most of the businesses I contacted were busy. Thankfully another company assessed the situation, replaced 4 valves (without digging up the valves), replaced a solenoid and replaced several sprinkler heads, all for less than $500. My tree remains intact. Buyer beware!! My experience speaks for itself. Unfortunately a zero rating isn't option!! read more

After turning our water on this spring, we discovered a line was broken. I called highland and spoke with Frankie. He was great. I was able to send a picture of the broken line and he gave me a quote over the phone. He was able to come out the next day. After inspecting the problem he realized that his quote was a little high. Still trying to decide if I'm happy or not. While I agree with other reviews that Frankie does quality work, there's a few things to be aware of: - Frankie isn't the kind to follow up with you about when he's coming or going. Our yard spread across 4 weeks with grading, sprinklers, and sod when we were told originally it would take 3-4 days. We had to ask when he would be coming back. There was times we were told things would be done that day and then they were not finished. He prides himself on saying he wants to supervise everything, but his workers will randomly show up at your house and start working without his supervision. It lead to our initial grading being completely different than what we had agreed on because he wasn't there when they started. - While I understand Frankie is juggling several people at once, he hasn't figured out how to manage it since he couldn't remember what we were doing. We had to remind him each time of what the plan was. - Make sure you take the time to call Blue Stakes, he won't. He used his bobcat to trench over the gas line. If you read Blue Stakes website, you need to be 24 inches away from marked areas if using power-operated equipment to excavate. What a disaster that could have been! - Going back to that first statement of having to follow up with him, because it was spread across weeks, we weren't able to water the existing lawn until he was finished. He also took our old sprinkler box without asking. - We also have three different types of grass, and have noticed slumping in our yard where the trenches were dug. Overall, I think I was more relieved to be done dealing with him being inconsistent than the quality of the work received. read more

Frankie was great to work with. He really helped me out in a pinch, as I was very late in the season to have my sprinkler system winterized. He came out same day, did a quick and thorough job and even walked me through my system and explained how it worked and where everything was. He also removed my outdoor valve at no extra cost, which was a really huge help, as it likely would have cracked during the winter months. I called Frankie to fix a water spigot that another company broke on accident while replacing my roof. I couldn't turn on my secondary water without it leaking. He came over ASAP. Removed the concrete and we decided just to cap the spigot off. We replaced the concrete with gravel and I was pleased with the finished product. After turning on the water and testing the sprinklers, we noticed there were some broken heads. About 5, which he fixed for what I believed was a fair price. I actually can't rate Frankie on his quality of work because he never came to my house. I called him a month and a half ago to get on his schedule. I was excited to have him work on my yard with all of the positive reviews he had. He told me that I was high on his list to give a call back to put on his schedule once the weather cleared up, but if I didn't hear from him in 3 weeks that I should call him back. 3 weeks passed and I didn't get a call. So I had my husband call. The lady that answered set up an appointment for us the following week. Day of the appointment, Frankie called my husband and cancels on us, but reschedules for two days later. Two hours before the rescheduled appointment, Frankie calls my husband again to cancel. When I met with Frankie, he understood that he was dealing with someone with very limited sprinkler knowledge. He quoted two prices, one to explain my personal system, and the other to do a diagnostic check. Anyway, the weather report last thursday indicated that after a little storm passed through, it was going to get down to the low 20's for a couple of nights-- plenty of time to, in my experience, bust up my sprinkler system pretty good. After finding out my normal contractor could fit me in-- in a couple of weeks, I searched Yelp and basically started calling everyone with a good rating. After 3 businesses who couldn't do the work or wanted to charge a ridiculous amount, I called Frankie at Highland. He was super nice on the phone, said "I can be there before 2," and actually showed up at about noon. He and his assistant did a good and complete job, and they were friendly and nice in the process.
