But this co-op is the biggest, most beautiful one I've ever had the pleasure of shopping at. Wow!!! First of all, easy-to-read signage and easy-to- find sections, including the bulk section (for things like nuts and grains) and the salad bar. A broad selection of healthy food, fresh produce, and locally-roasted coffee is crucial for me, and they nail all that. But they also have excellent sandwiches made to order at the deli counter, so if you go in hungry, I guarantee you'll need to get something. You don't have to be a member to fall in love with this store, but if you become one, you get to help decide how the place is run. People-power FTW! What could make this better, you ask? Well, they also have cold brew & kombucha on tap for the millennials, cafe seating in the front, and oh by the way, regular community events in their parking lot. The staff were hands down the friendliest bunch of folx we met in NH, too.

One was typing (on a typewriter) another working on a laptop and a couple wandered in from the bookstore side. Parking is on street. Pay at the meter and put the paid receipt on the dash of your vehicle where it can easily be seen. Two or three people were giving out parking tickets during our stay. The menu is over the order counter or use one of the copies they have near the register. It's a pretty small menu with espresso and coffee drinks, tea, breakfast sandwiches on an english muffin, pastry and panini or wraps. They also have a drinks cooler. We ordered a wrap and a breakfast sandwich which were brought to us when ready although I suspect we were supposed to wait at the end of the counter and just didn't get that instruction. The egg on my breakfast sandwich was a scrambled egg shaped in a circle the size of the english muffin. It had an odd texture like it's not just egg in there and based on the brown exterior was reheated? Not sure, but both my egg and cheese muffin and my companions wrap left a weird, unpleasant taste. Even after breath mints the taste remained. No idea what that's about but I wouldn't want a repeat. The coffee is served in a paper cup even though we were dining in. Sandwiches were served in butcher paper. So all orders seem to be prepared as to-go orders. A milk and sugar station is by the door where you will also find the trash. I did not look for a restroom. The restaurant is 'bus your own table' and was pretty clean. Two of the tables we tried wobbled terribly. The window wall lets in lots of sunlight.

Staff is top-notch in service and knowledgeable. Superior selection of books and gifts, including soon to be banned (!!) books. Sandwiches are delightful; ingredients are often times local and fresh, healthy portions and typically we split a sandwich and a salad, then take home what we can't eat. The cafe closes at 3 pm but get there earlier if you want the specials because it's that tasty! Kitchen staff and barista/cashier very accommodating about any dietary restrictions/ special requests. Also - kids' hotdogs - just as they should be on New England buns. The kicker was my wife's Cuban sammie - she loved it, and she's from Miami, so she knows these better than anyone. I had the Turkey Rachel, and it was spot on. I'm planning to drop back in for lunch when in Concord, if only for the broccoli and cheese soup. If you work anywhere near 393, you need to get over there. Serious eats.
