We told them we were cash pay and we were offered (and declined) a $140 breathing treatment (not their fault we are cash pay) and they phoned in a prescription. When we went to pick up the two inhalers we were told it would be $1100 for the two. We called the Urgent care facility and gave them the feedback and had to borrow a friend's inhaler. One week later we received a phone call from the pharmacy asking if we wanted to pick up her new, $48 inhalers. This system is broken if the true cost is $48 but the insurance cost is $550. Why did the Urgent Care facility call in the cash pay Rx knowing we were cash pay and had just turned down their breathing treatment? Why did the Urgent Care return our call to tell us they had phoned in a new Rx? This place definitely has a turn and burn vibe which is disappointing (both doctor and staff) when a sick child is involved. They didn't even give me any kind of idea what could be happening.
