I've been to Slice House quite a few times now, and it's honestly one of my go-to spots when I'm craving really good thick pizza. My absolute favorite is the Detroit Pizza of the Day, especially on Fridays and Sundays. I don't know what it is about those days flavor of the day, but it just hits every time--crispy edges, cheesy crust, and always super flavorful. I've definitely started timing my visits around it because it's that good. Also, I have to call out Peter. Every time I'm there, he's nonstop helping customers, checking on people, keeping things moving. You can tell he really cares about making sure everyone has a good experience, and it doesn't go unnoticed. He's a real hard worker and he's been going above and beyond since I started as a customer here which is probably like 6 months now. I had a slice of the "Sweet Gino" and it was absolutely delicious! An elevated Margherita with sweet tomato sauce, ovoline mozzarella, fresh basil, and sea salt--it honestly tasted like heaven! And the crust... perfection!!! My husband had the "Wiseguy" with tomato sauce, sweet and spicy Italian sausage, pepperoni, ricotta, green onion, and spicy oil. Stopped by to grab a slice of the Hawaiian hit man since I've been wanting to try it for awhile now. The whole slice of pineapple paired with the bacon and delicious sauce did not disappoint! All it needed was a little spice but I added that myself. It was so crispy but fluffy at the same time, best slice I've had in awhile. Customer service could've been better today but it's the food that matters and that didn't disappoint! Pulled up for some expensive pizza. Got me this slice, I forgot what it was called tbh, but I took a bite. The ingredients were actually genuine and fresh. I finally popped in to try a couple slices, which typically are on the larger size at places specializing in these things. I love that they offer so many styles, too, allowing as much as your stomach and appetite can handle. As such, I figured one NY slice and one deep dish would do the trick. It's not really a sit down place, inside it's tight with only one table and a wall-facing bar seating section. If it's warm though, there's lots outside tables. The display is impressive, and I wanted more than I could handle, so more future visits are assured. I liked the topping variations as well, visually, these appeal. Reheating only took a few minutes, and I grabbed a bar seat. Unfortunately, it was under the blower duct and it was a little chilly, but preferable to sitting by the door. I enjoyed both slices and felt full afterwards. The dobs of burrata were tasty, the pepperoni nice and thick, and I also liked the sausage. The deep dish was somewhere between Roman and Sicilian in texture and depth. The sauce variations are another angle of inquiry down the road, but overall, I really liked my quick meal. read more

I ordered the Motörhead pizza and it was HUGE definitely enough to share, which I appreciated. The pizza itself was solid, but nothing that really stood out flavor-wise. The cashiers were polite and had great customer service. They even gave me a heads up that ordering the wings would add about 15-20 minutes, which I really appreciated. Unfortunately, the wings were a letdown. They tasted like frozen, air-fryer wings you'd make at home not what I was expecting from a pizza spot. They do have a nice outdoor seating patio, which I was enjoying while eating. However, someone was walking around panhandling and asking people for money, which kind of took away from the overall experience. I had heard good things about this place from an out-of-town guest who's been to another location, so I was excited to try it. Sadly, I've now tried this place twice and I am not impressed. The pizza is expensive and instead of being better than average, I feel like it somehow is worse than average. Yes, they have some upscale ingredients (like that smaller pepperoni that curls up) and yes, they have more options like NY style and Detroit style pizzas and many flavors, but the pizza just hasn't been anything to write home about. Beyond the flavor, the pizza wasn't even a good texture, as if it's been sitting around for too long (which it generally has unless you get a whole pizza). I only had a small bite of the Detroit style pizza but my lunch guest said it kind of tasted like just some cheese on fluffy bread...not a ringing endorsement. The counter to order is small and the service is friendly, but there's barely indoor seating. The outdoor seating has been really hot both times I was there, so maybe that's part of what I didn't enjoy about the experience. Anyway, I'm glad there's some people who like this place but it's clearly not for me. UPC on University is more my style. read more

I think I'm in love! Canyon crest is one of my favorite local shopping/dinning plazas and the revamp they have done here is unreal. They refreshed the whole area with some new anchor restaurants to add to the older established ones and every place I try I love! Here you can order by the slice or entire (giant) pizzas and sides. They have NY & Chicago style pizza options. We came for lunch and I was shocked how quickly the process was from start to food! Order at the counter (good lucking picking which slice to get they all look so good) and then not even 5 minutes later food is done. Some kitchen magic happens in their convection oven because it is hot all the way through in seconds! I barely had time to fill my soda and sit down before my slice was out! They have a weekly specialty menu for the NY and the Chicago style as well as the standard options. So yes I did come two days in a row because I wanted to try the bbq chicken pizza after how good the chicken bacon ranch was. There was literal whole pineapple slices on my bbq chicken pizza if that doesn't tell you genuinely massive size of this pizza! Both of my slices were of the NY style and the crust is cooked perfectly and had a nice crunch to it. The toppings are so fresh and perfectly balanced. The pizza was not overly sauced so you can actually taste all of the things together. This place is a total win. Limited searing inside but why would you want to sit there when there is an outdoor patio with umbrellas right outside the door and on the other side there is a fountain!! Visited @slicehouseinlandempire for lunch today. Service was wonderful. I was immediately greeted by a friendly woman behind the counter. I tried the Wise Guy and Hot Honey pizzas. Both were good, however I felt the hot honey was the superior pizza despite the other pizza having a tasty spicy Italian sausage and dollop of cheese. All in all, it was a good lunch. I'd recommend ordering a whole pizza. It's made hot and fresh. The pizzas they had available to buy by the slice did not look nearly as appetizing since they had been sitting out. read more

Visited Slice House recently. You order and they have a few places to eat inside, outside or to go, and it has a very casual atmosphere. They have a plethora of full size pizzas (and some that are very unique combinations) as well as about 9 choices to purchase by the slice. Slices vary between $6.50 - $7.50 each. I ordered the Sweet Gino and it was really good. You can also add dried herbs or hot pepper oil when your order comes out (I did both) and purchased two bottles (they are small) of their hot pepper oil. They also have a few bottled drinks as well as a fountain drink station (Pepsi products). Overall, this place was a good experience and I'll probably come back to try another slice or two. read more

I really did want to like this place.... I really did but this was not it for us. Great location in the Canyon Crest area with nice outdoor seating, this is a cool place to chill and enjoy some pizza with friends and family. We came on a busy friday night, so I can understand the wait. This was my first time and I'm not sure why the staff couldn't answer my questions. I asked what they recommended... the ny slice or the Detroit or Sicilian but the person at the front only told me the difference between NY and a square slice??? Like uhhh obviously I know the difference LOL. I didn't want to hold up the line so I ordered the detroit style hot honey. However, the dude at the front put in sicilian style when I specifically asked for detroit and I didn't notice until we got our order. This was all before the food and it just wasn't a good start. I didn't want to be a fuss for a busy night so we just stuck with the sicilian style hot honey. When the pizza came, it was nice and fresh. HOWEVER, they were extremely skimpy on the portions. There was not enough sauce, cheese, pepperonis, and sausages. It was like a whisper of sauce. Also there was nothing hot about it. It tasted like regular honey on top. The dough did have a nice chewy texture but the flavor reminded me of pizza hut... which isn't a good thing. For this to be $38, this just didn't hit for us. The wings were okay but nothing really special. I understand this place is new and probably still needs to work a few things out... starting with the people in front. We'll probably give this place another shot but only if friends really want pizza. I really did expect better, especially coming from a place that has a celebrity chef name attached to it. read more

Posting a rare review sans photo. Honestly, we were so enchanted with our pizza options, the HUGE slices and the incredible flavors that I didn't even think to take a photo. This pizza place is a definite notch above any other place in Riverside. The dining options in the small mostly take out place are limited but if the weather is nice, outdoor seating is plentiful around the Canyon Crest plaza. Seating would be the only drawback. This place knows how to do pizza right. Both deep dish and thin crust options. Meat lovers and veggie lovers will be equally satisfied. Creative sauces, flavors and toppings. Each bite has that perfect balance of crunch and chew. Yum! I appreciate the option to order a slice, from many varieties, or order an entire pizza. We will definitely try the other pasta options sometime..... but maybe not. How can you pass up the pizza? Prices were reasonable and the staff were awesome. Helpful. Efficient. Friendly. We came to Slice House at Canyon Crest on Sunday evening during their opening weekend, and the place was packed -- crowds all around and a clearly overwhelmed staff. Understandable for an opening, but it definitely impacted the experience. We ordered a slice of the NY Cherry Bomb, a gluten-free 12" Peasano, and the Bacon Arugula salad (hoping that would come out quickly). Instead of buzzers, we were given a table number and sat on the patio. Unfortunately, after 25 minutes with no food, we went in to check -- our order had been sitting there, with no attempt to find us. The slice and pizza were already lukewarm, and the salad (which had little dressing) was never delivered. At that point, the food was underwhelming: the pizza lacked flavor and the salad wasn't dressed. On taste alone, it felt like a 2-star experience. Later, we reheated the gluten-free pizza at home and added our own dressing to the salad -- that bumped it to a 3. Still, the gluten-free crust was more like flatbread: firm, dry, and lacking the chew of real pizza dough. I'm glad Riverside has a new pizza option, but for $29 for a 12" gluten-free pie, it's hard to justify a return unless quality and service improve. read more

This establishment seems to be experiencing many difficulties as a newly opened business. I've visited twice since opening, both times a line out the door. The first time I had a good slice of the Motorhead, waited about 15 minutes to order and 15 for the pizza. The second time waited about 15 minutes to order. Before I could walk away from the register they had my order but the Motorhead was completely burnt. The wise guy was not burnt and was good. My friend who ordered at the same exact time as me waited 30 minutes before approaching the register to checkin on his order and had to flag down several workers before one would stop to give him his order. His pizza, the cherry bomb, was completely cold but had good flavor. The meatballs he ordered were good though and I liked the sauce as well although it is in the sweet side. Overall, I think currently the food output is inconsistent and the service and efficiency of the business needs improvement. The presence of a manager leading the team would be helpful as each employee seemed a bit scattered by the rush. More white sauce options would be awesome too The ambiance is enjoyable with lots of outdoor seating. Note is you download the app you get $5 off when your order is $15 or more before tax. Still glad to have this new business in Riverside despite some bumps. This is a kind of pizza seen in SD and Berkeley that I'm glad to have closer to home. read more

Was excited to try this new pizza spot at the canyon crest town center! Definitely lived up to the hype for us. Ordered the little Italy NY style pizza and opted for the XL size. The pizza was huge! More than enough for a group of four. We all had a slice each and took the remaining two home for leftovers. Pizza tasted great and had plenty of toppings. Highlight for me was the pepperoni, cheese, and the crust was especially delicious. Overall a great pizza and it was ready in about 20 minutes as well which was very impressive! Small shop with minimal seating, around 7 inside and then outdoor patio with 6 tables or so. My partner and I ordered a slice of their pizza of the day and then a pasta and cannoli. All they do for the pizza slice is reheat it in the oven, tastes great and loved the Hawaiian hit man. Crust was delicious, but the pasta and cannoli took over 20min and required me to ask if its even being made still. I think it should be made aware to guests that something will take this long, I spoke to staff and they said they had to remake the pasta because it was overcooked. Again, let your customer know if its going to take extra time rather than allowing us to wonder. The cannoli came out melted also. Maybe I got unlucky. The only reason I gave it 3 was because the food was actually good. Pasta (when it finally came out) was cooked al dented and used thicker pasta, with a solid sauce. I recommend just picking up a slice of detroit style pizza and anything else would be at your own risk. read more

The Slice House is a great selection with quick, affordable and the best pizza hands down. The NY style pizza is the best I've had. Their crust has just the right crisp, pull and flavor with every bite! What's even better is their wide variety of toppings available for custom pies and pee-made pies by the slice that you wont find in NYC or Brooklyn. For those that prefer different styles of pizza, they also offer thin and crispy pan-fried Grandma style, deep dish Detroit style and fluffy focaccia Sicilian style. All are deliciously and expertly made. The House Craft Salad was tasty, fresh and pairs well with any of their pizzas. Staff went over and beyond to accommodate us and made our visit a memorable one. Loved the crispy baked crust with fresh toppings. Perfect with some crushed red pepper. Soda station located inside. Designated patio seating or other areas around the plaza to enjoy the ambiance. Inside is one low top and a few bar height seating. My girlfriend and I have made Slice House a weekly weekday stop whenever the pizza craving hits. The food is consistently on point, and the variety of styles is a major strength. The Wise Guy is my go-to every time, and I also appreciate that they offer more than just one "house style." The Detroit-style in particular is a standout and easily one of my favorite styles they do. What really separates this place, though, is the customer service--specifically from an employee named Patrick. I used to train customer service at United Airlines, so I don't say this lightly: great service is obvious when you see it, and Patrick delivers it every single visit. I met him during his first week and he's been consistently professional since day one. He's polite, genuinely engaged, and takes the time to be informative without being pushy or performative. He goes above and beyond in a way that feels natural, not scripted. Management should recognize what they have in him--he raises the standard and reflects well on the brand. The New York slices were huge (Costco-sized!), but the flavor was way better than Costco's. The standout for me was the Sweet Gino. It's a square slice with thick, crunchy crust, a perfectly sweet tomato sauce, thin slices of mozzarella, and fresh basil on top. Simple, but absolutely delicious. My husband and I got Detroit style slices and the crust was very hard (you can tell it's a little charred in the picture I posted). We didn't complain or anything and ate it anyway because we were just starving. The cashier named Edith noticed that something about was off with that batch of pizza and offered to replace our pizza with a better slice. We thought it was amazing that she paid attention to the details of what they were serving and even offered to make it better without us even needing to ask. We were super grateful because we thought we were just going to have to eat that pizza but instead, we got to try some different slices that were really worth visiting this place for! We waited over 25 minutes for our made-to-order pizza, yet when it arrived, it was completely cold. For over $20, I expected something fresh and at least warm--especially considering a slice of pepperoni from the display case we ordered at the same time was much hotter. The Cal Italia also looked noticeably different from the photos, which added to the letdown. Fresh, hot pizza feels like a pretty basic expectation, but this missed the mark. near ucr this pizza spot is tucked away in a cozy little plaza. there's enough parking in the lot and it's next to an ice cream shop and a bakery and things so it could be a cute little place to walk around or hang out. this place ig is known for being started by a multi-award winning pizza dude and their specialty is NY style pizza and their special hot oil which were both really good! each slice is massive and we personally liked the ny more than the other styles. Picante this slice is meaty with a kick of spice from the different peppers. i loved the addition of the ricotta cheese and i wish there was more. Wise Guy very similar to the picante in that it has mixed meats and a kick, but the kick comes more from the hot oil than peppers for this slice. Tony Jack this is a detroit style slice. i was excited for this one but it was a little disappointing. the edges were crispy but maybe just bc it was sitting out it was a little too dry and crisped for my taste. Sweet Gino just as the name suggests, this elevated margarita style slice is a bit on the sweeter side because of the sauce they use. i don't really love sweet foods unless it's dessert, but adding the hot oil does help a bit! read more

At the time, tap to pay was not working. After we ordered, they gave us a table number and a buzzer...which was confusing bc we weren't sure if they were going to drop our food off at our table or the buzzer would buzz. Cashier said to look out for both. ...okay. Lol. We ordered three slices: the Gino, wise guy, and cherry bomb. The tomato stripes in the Gino was flavorful and had a sweet profile. This was my favorite out of the three. For both the cherry bomb and the wise guy. The tomato sauce was lacking in not only the slice but in flavor. I was looking forward to the wise guy since it had ricotta, but the pea size serving of ricotta in the slices was weak. Seating is predominantly in the patio with nice music. The service was good for their first day. The food was delicious. I usually dont like sauce on top of cheese, but the motorhead was so good with the detroit style focaccia dough! The slices are about 2 normal pizza slices big. Definitely reminds my grandma and I of authentic New York pizza. 1 slice is about 6-7$ but it is really filling so i think the price is worth it.
