Ordered two pizzas from here on Uber Eats. My friend and I wanted to check out the local deep dish scene, and this seemed to be one of the few places that offered it, so we decided to give it a try. I didn't have very high expectations, but I was pleasantly surprised by the pizzas here. They offer a variety of veggie and meat pizzas that can be made with regular crust or deep dish style. We ordered a small deep dish margharita ($19.99) and a medium deep dish butter chicken ($23.99) pizza. Both weren't true deep dish pizzas, but the crust was nice and thick. I'd recommend the pizzas here to anyone who likes a breadier crust. My only minor complaint is that the pizzas didn't have enough sauce to complement the thick crust. The pizzas kept well for leftovers too. They tasted just as good the next day heated up in our toaster oven. read more

Woefully sub-average. It is best I can describe this place. Entered the place on a Monday afternoon whilst three East Indian men chillaxing in the dining area. They quickly jumped at my presence and returned to their stations as if they're caught slacking off. First idea was to order a deep dish but a few moments later upon entry I decided otherwise. I opted for 2 slices and a pop. Meatloaf and cheese. The sever didn't bother to warm them. They were dry and like old pizzas. I've never been to Chicago before but I've often wanted to try a Chicago-style pizza. Known for their deep crust and ample amount of filling and sauce, it smacks in the face of all of the thin-crust pizzas that are readily available in the Vancouver area. And with Covid still going strong, there's really no better time to stuff your face with a ton of carbs. Now, to be fair, I never expected Slice of Chicago to be a truly authentic purveyor of Chicago-style pizzas. I mean, one look at the menu with their Butter Chicken and Tandoori pizzas and you should know better (perhaps this is due to their location in the Punjabi Market area of Vancouver). Still, we decided to order The Chicagoan ($23.99 for medium). At first glance, this might seem a bit expensive for a "medium" but don't be fooled... this is a massive pizza. The crust of the pizza rises up quite high and, at first glance, looks like it would be too much. However, it's probably needed to contain the toppings: pepperoni, ham, ground beef, mushrooms, green peppers, shrimp, pineapple, olives, onions, mozzarella cheese and their Chicago-style sauce. I've heard that Chicago-style pizzas are usually much more saucy and, hence, difficult to eat by hand without covering yourself with a tomatoey mess. Overall, the pizza was pretty good. The crust was somewhat thickish on the bottom (which is to be expected) but it had a nice crustiness to the bite. I also liked the variety of toppings on this pizza (although I wish they were piled a bit higher and with more sauce). While this may not be representative of a true Chicago-style pizza, it's still pretty good and definitely a filling meal. read more

This was the first time I tried this place. I've been to Chicago so I known what Chicago deep dish pizza taste like. Since I won't be in Chicago anytime soon I was craving for a deep dish pizza. I was very pleased with their pizza. It was really really good with lots of cheese and toppings. Above all their prices are very reasonable, way better than a lot of other pizza. places I've tried which hardly had any toppings. The guy who served me was really friendly and he even gave me a discount since I picked it up myself instead of going through Skip the Dishes. If you've never tried them, you really should give them a try. It's not like the authentic Chicago stuff but was was pretty good coming from Vancouver. 5/5 read more

Chicago Deep-fried Pizza. Worth the upgrade? For an extra $4-5, you can upgrade a pizza to a deep dish pizza. What does this mean? You get a THICK crust on the perimeter of the pizza which allows for more toppings to be packed on. Unfortunately, they don't necessarily double the amount of meat included as it seemed like most of the money went towards extra cheese, onions and peppers. That said, the pizza does taste much better than a regular pizza because you get so much more sauce and toppings with each and every bite. The Marinara sauce here tasted very fresh and tangy. The onions were crisp and the cheese was velvety. The Chicken was a tad dry, probably because they were cut so thin. But, for $19, our small deep-dish chicken pizza was a bit overpriced. I ordered two pizzas from here. A large meat lovers deep dish and a small cheese for my kid. Unfortunately I used Skip the Dishes and "small cheese pizza" wasn't an option so I ordered a small veggie pizza and asked for no toppings except for cheese. After the order had been paid for Slice of Chicago called me to double check that I only wanted cheese on my veggie pizza. When I said that really was the case they objected because I had paid too much for a simple cheese pizza. Instead they sent me an additional small cheese pizza to make sure I got my money's worth. I didn't ask them to do that, they didn't have to and they lost money because of it. They just did it because it was fair. Who does that?!? What an amazing place! Read all the reviews and got interested. Waited a long time to have enough people to try the deep dish pizza. Was told by the store that one large will feed 5-6 and I didn't believe him, but he's right. We did get full. Not only that, it was a pretty good pizza too! The bacon was actually real bacon, as in the ones you see at breakfast. Hawaiian was covered with lots of pineapple. We had the meatlovers, and the store recommended Chicgoan next time. The crust was very nice as it was not a thick layer of dough, but of course, the edge is deep and thicker. It was a winner, and we'll wait for the next opportunity to try others. read more

Chicago pizza in a movie I was watching got my tastebuds dancing in anticipation for what Slice of Chicago pizza promised as authentic Chicago style pizza. Yeah ....no. I paid $36.74 + tip for a box of 89% dry, tough, thick dough, and a little bit of topping. What a disappointment. I ate one piece and threw the rest away. That's the first time I've thrown pizza in the garbage. Ever. Not sure what about this was "deep dish" pizza, except I imagine the dish would have to be deep to facilitate all that dough.... and I love dough too... but this was nuts....and not good. I went to Chicago last year. First night I was there I went to one of their many famous deep dish pizza places. It was deep, full of toppings, sauce, and cheese, and it was f'ing good. Posted it on Facebook, everyone wanted to try a slice. But we live in Vancouver and there was no way to share the experience with them, until I heard about this place. So last night, I did my research. Looked through their pictures, and decided I'll order the house special deep dish. That looked like the most legit Chicago style Deep Dish. You know what? It was pretty darn close to the real thing from the source. For that I give them 4 stars. For saving all of us a ticket to Chicago. I can't say a whole lot about their service on the phone, or their punctuality with the delivery. It was weak, but they seem like a small business, a mom and pop, and they haven't got the entire supply chain figured out as well as a big pizza company does. I am thankful they've brought something new to Vancouver. I wish them luck with perfecting their recipe, and their service standards. read more

Dropped by here with a bunch of friends. We heard they have deep dish pizza, and yes it is true, they do. We just had to try it since we've been searching for one in Vancouver for a VERY long time. I found out about this place because a friend lived around the corner, and told me there was a deep dish pizza place, and I was surprised! I had to come drop by, and try it out myself! Friends and we ordered 4 large deep dish pizzas in total to share between the 7 of us. The Butter Chicken, The AL Capone, The Super Hawaiian and The Meat Lover. By the end of the night, we couldn't finish everything, and had more pizza for the day after. We were stuffed, and I was dead by the end of the night. For sure the only way I can say is that their pizzas were more crust than the sauce for the deep dish. We maybe wanted more it to be Chicago Deep Dish, but I mean, this is the closest we are going to get in Vancouver though :P Overall, at the end of the night, we had so much food we were full and dead. It's good pizza! I am married to a New Yorker, one with strong opinions on what kind of pizza one should eat. She left town and I decided it was time for our teenage kid to finally experience deep dish. I ordered the margherita and the shahi paneer. The deep dish crust was tasty, and filling. The toppings were, I thought, really well selected. The sauce was in good balance, slightly sweet. Nice and cheesy. There is a LOT of food in these pizzas. The shahi paneer one turned out to be my favourite. The first bite was a little disconcerting, as worlds collided. By the third bite I was in heaven. It really works. Had a craving for deep dish pizza but living in Vancouver, finding one could be a challenge. Stumbled onto Slice of Chicago through a Google search so I wanted to give it a try. Most of the reviews seemed positive so I went there. Ordered the House Special as a deep dish. WOW!!!! It was HUGE!!!! Ordered a small and I could only get done with 2 slices. Although this wasn't authentic true Chicago style deep dish, it was still a great pizza and I "highly recommend" to anyone who wants a really thick, topping heavy pizza. This place would be considered a "hole in the wall" place, abit small but well worth the deep dish. I'll be back soon enough. read more

I am a frequent pizza eater so I've tried my fair share of pizza in Vancouver. I can say this pizza ranks as one of the best I've had(no one beats mamas cooking). Toppings are plentiful and there is an abundant amount of cheese as per the Chicago norm. Price is indifferent to me as if the item tastes great I am willing to pay. My overall experience here was more like 3.5 stars out of 5. Mostly because people running this business are probably the nicest and most dedicated business owners I've ever had the pleasure of speaking with. The inside of the store is tiny and not the most alluring visually to look at, I expect that they don't often have people sitting down to eat....there was one table. The foot traffic is probably from the high school across the street. The walls have a bunch of mismatched Chicago regalia and a bizarre amount of Al Capone stuff. The pizza ingredients are top shelf. Since I chose to eat at the place, the pizza was oh so piping hot, straight out of the oven. This is when I got to chat with the business owner and that was a treat, learning a little bit about the businesses history. Now here is my one (albeit major) complaint: this is their take on Chicago style deep dish pizza, it is NOT authentic. They nail the red sauce for sure, but the ingredients are simply not plentiful enough. The crust is thick on the bottom and has the high side, but its really supposed to resemble more of a pie or quiche style height...I mean, like a good two inches of depth is needed. You should be able to feed four hungry adults with a large because its supposed to weigh like five pounds! Besides that, it tasted great! read more

Ordered four of their deep dish pizzas while at a tourney across the street. Three of them easily filled up 14 players on our team. These 13-14 year old girls were hungry, so the pies are filling. They also had some weight to them. It was fun trying this type of pizza. We'll order again if we're here next year. But they are average at best as far as toppings go. The crust was thick and lots of bread. Which isn't bad if you're looking for that. It's a good fill up for hungry athletes. read more

I'd pretty much given up on pizza in Vancouver, but a friend suggested we try Slice of Chicago and I'm glad that we did. We ordered right as the Canucks game was starting on a busy Friday night through Orderit.ca, and after waiting just under an hour I called the restaurant to make sure they'd received our order. The person who answered was really nice, very apologetic, and said our pizza should arrive any minute. He was absolutely right: Not 5 minutes later a very sweet and personable delivery guy arrived with piping hot pizza--and how he managed to get it to us in the West End from 41st and Fraser while a Canucks game was starting at Rogers Arena, *in the pouring rain* and still have it be piping hot is a mystery to me. Bottom line: Lovely service, even under what were likely crappy/crazy circumstances for the driver. As for the pizza: It was excellent! We ordered two small deep dish pizzas and between the three of us ate barely half. SO MUCH FOOD. The pizzas aren't perfect "Chicago Style" but they are 80% there and certainly better than any pizza we've had in Vancouver before. These were serious pies--loaded with toppings, cheese and really good sauce. Definitely 'fork and knife' style pizza. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is the extra sauce caused some sogginess on the bottom crusts, but it's a minor complaint. Just got my butter chicken pizza 2 hours after I ordered. No call or anything. I had to phone in after an hour and a half to figure out what was going on. Then driver calls and says he's 10 minutes away and shows up in 20. Calls again and says he's downstairs so after another 5 mins waiting in lobby I had to walk outside and find him sitting in his car. Another 5 mins later we're still waiting for the interac machine to find connection (not sure why the other hundred deliveries to the building tonight didn't have issues). Meanwhile, he keeps saying if it doesn't go through he can come back later (seriously?). Finally goes through and gives me $2 off a $40 order for the trouble (2 hour delivery already cost me $4 plus tip puts it at $8). At least I got it, right? I get upstairs and its so cold and hard I can only make it half way through each slice before my jaw starts to ache but Im so hungry and pissed I dont even care at this point. Moral of this story? Stick with doordash or skip so you dont have to deal with these kinds of scams and companies. read more

Love this place! Lived in Vancouver for almost 6 months before I decided to ask the Internet best place to buy pizza in town, and this was the closest One to my place. Haven't had pizza from anywhere else since I discovered Slice of Chicago and I wish I had found them sooner. $34 for my personal favorite, the Large Deep-Dish Super-Hawaiian with chicken added. Delivery is pretty quick but costs extra depending on where in the city you live. First Large pizza I ordered in this town that I didn't eat all at once. The deep dish pizza is heavy and has lots of toppings. Two slices and I was stuffed. Like I said, love this place but be careful! Their pizza is so good it may ruin all other Pizza for you. Don't get me wrong, this place is a 4 solid stars on the food front. I got a Social Living Deal for two large 3 topping pizzas. The large is about 2 to 3 inches smaller than the large pizzas at the shops I'm used to (Freshslice, MegaByte, Romano's Pizza, Flying Wedge), but what they lack in size, they make up in fresh ingredients. I had a slice of salami, tomoto and mushroom pizza and it was pretty amazing. the crust was thin and crunchy (the way I like it) and Slice of Chicago really didn't cheap out on ingredients. They have daily specials and I really wouldn't mind going back (even without a deal) to try those. Why 3-stars you might ask? I didn't like the two drinks (that came with the pizzas) were chosen for me so I went to the fridge and chose a new drink but was asked quite rudely (like I was stealing or something) what I was doing. I explained myself and the manager didn't even apologise for the accusation, no smiling, just pure accusation-like stare. It might seem a little pricey, but that's because these pies are massive. Tried this pizza for the first time and was not disappointed! It was delicious with fresh ingredients and did not skimp on sauce or cheese. I can normally eat a small pizza to myself but I could not even eat half of the small deep dish. I also liked that they gave free dipping sauce. What a nice touch. The website has an error of $15 delivery fee. When I placed order online, they called and corrected that right away. Both on the phone and delivery driver were very nice and friendly. My only critique would be that the crust could be a bit thinner on the end as very filling oh and also delivery is supposed to be free within 3kms which I was but they still charged $3. Though I don't mind paying for it, they should be more clear or just charge a flat fee to deliver but definitely not $15. I would recommend this place! read more
