Slice on Broadway serves up pizza all throughout the city of Pittsburgh. There are several locations, but this particular spot is in the heart of Carnegie. We have been here several times, and usually stop for a slice when we are in the area. Located right on E Main Street, this pizza shops serves made-to-order pies, pizza by the slice, rolls, hoagies, and much more. There is street parking around the shop, along with a paid parking lot right across the street. The shop is smaller, but is updated and cleanly. There are several tables for dine-in guests, but no large tables. If you have a larger party, you would need to split up into several tables due to layout and size of restaurant. We visited on a Sunday afternoon in July. This was during a Farmer's Marker right on E Main Street, so there were a few customers from that. However, it was not too busy or overwhelming. We only had one person in front of us when we went in to order and had no issue finding a table. You are able to order whole pizzas and customize them like any other pizza place, but what makes Slice on Broadway stand out to me are the slices available at the counter. That concept very much emulates their namesake, and reminds me of shops in NYC in that regard. Since I usually visit here with just my fiancé, we tend to stick to ordering a few slices instead of an entire pizza. This way, we can try different types without spending a fortune/having excessive leftovers. On this visit, we tried four different slices and a roll. We had a Plain Slice, Pepperoni Slice, White Slice with Spinach and Tomato, and a Pepperoni/Cheese/Pepper Slice. All of them were good, but my personal favorite was the Pepperoni/Cheese/Pepper. That is not a combination I would have necessarily ordered for myself in a full pizza, but I loved getting to try it. It opened my eyes to putting the yellow peppers on pizza! Additionally, we ordered a Spinach Roll. This was very good, and came with a marinara sauce for dipping. All of the items that you order at the counter - the slices and rolls - are heated up before being served to you. So, even though the items are on display, they arrive hot and fresh out of the oven. I have found the staff here to always be helpful and friendly. Specifically on this visit, we received great service from the cashier. He informed us on what the different pizza slices were while being friendly and hospitable. Personally, I have never had a negative experience with the staff at this location. The prices are average here. It is nice how you can purchase individual slices that are ready in a few minutes, but ordering several of those will add up quickly. They do accept both cash and card, which is a plus! I would recommend Slice on Broadway if you are thinking about making a stop. They have several locations, and you can try different pies by purchasing a slice available at the counter. The service is quick and friendly. It is a great place for a quick lunch or bite at any time of day. I have always enjoyed coming here, and will definitely be back in the future. read more

They need to remove "Slice" from their name. Stopped in for a slice and was told to wait, then asking for a slice of cheese pizza was told what we see is all they have. A couple of half pizzas, one buffalo chicken and one a tomato something. Both looked like they'd been sitting there for hours. Worker says they've been busy and that's all they have. So much for stopping in for a slice of simply cheese pizza. You'd think they would have made one or least kept a simple cheese available for purchasing. Put simply: Slice on Broadway is where I go when I want really good pizza! And good food. But mostly good pizza. Usually I create my own pie, although you really can't go wrong with their regular menu, either. I especially recommend their margherita pizza; those ingredients and flavors on Slice's thin pizza crusts are the perfect pairing. That said, you also can't go wrong with an order of breadsticks or garlic knots - there is no shame in going straight for the carbs when they're so delicious. And don't snooze on the hoagies or salads! They make for a tasty lunchtime treat. While Slice serves up plenty of standard options (I.e. good ol' Italian hoagies, grilled chicken salads, etc.), my current goal is to try their Gonzo Hoagie. Add on that the employees have always been nice and have always given accurate times on how long for an order, and all of this makes for one very happy customer. I've never had a bad experience or bad meal from Slice on Broadway. Bonus tip: this local recommends bringing some dinner from this pizza shop over to Apis Meadery sometime - it's hard to beat a relaxing evening with pizza, mead, and friends! read more

While in Carnegie, I went to another place for dinner, but after getting there I wasn't too impressed with the menu and service, so I decided to grab pizza here... When I came in, they weren't too busy and the pizza maker and cashier were great helping describe their pizza selections to me. They made me a spicy Italian pizza with jalapeños on it. The flavor of the pizza was good, but the crust was too sloppy, as I couldn't pick it up without it flopping and all the toppings falling off, so I had to use a fork and knife to eat it. Sauce was decent and so were the toppings. Prices are fair and the staff even asked how it was as I was leaving... So, their service is really good. I kept hearing great things on Instagram and had to try it. I'm not a huge fan of local pizzerias, but this one was much better. We weren't super hungry so we only tried slices of pizza. I enjoyed the Buffalo chicken. However, I really loved the white pizza with marinara. The red sauce was so sweet and delicious. My husband is not a huge pizza fan. One of the best pizza places in the area. I'm really happy it is so close to home! I'm not a huge fan of the standard thin crust, but they have an option to get thicker crust as well. You can also buy it by the slice, which is rare. Not only are their pizzas great, but their hoagies are really good too. (The Italian is my personal favorite). I know they have desserts too; I haven't tried any of them, but I've seen their cheesecake before, and it looks decadent. I'm not usually the biggest fan of Hawaiian pizza, but I had a random craving for it tonight and it really hit the spot. The small thin crust pizza is the perfect amount to fill you up and have a little leftover. Lastly, the service here is always really kind and accommodating. As a local in Carnegie for many years I have tried all of the restaurant and basically everything on the menus. My son absolutely loves the pepperoni rolls. They are pretty great for the low price. All the pizzas are really good. You can even watch it being made through there case which my little one thoroughly enjoys. We've lived in Carnegie for about seven years and somehow have missed the magic that is Slice until recently. It is incredible! Slice is probably the closest local pizza that tastes a bit like New York's. They are on the pricier side, but since the coronavirus, they've been sending out coupons for a free small pizza with the purchase of a large. The sauce is sweet, the crust is somehow doughy and not crunchy, and they are generous with the cheese! I was in the area and stopped in for a pie. The staff was friendly and greeted me on entering. I picked a small pepperoni pizza and it was ready in about 20 minutes. The pizza was just another pizza to me nothing to crazy. There wasn't much sauce and the crust was on the thinner side but it was nice and crispy. I think it's pretty hard to mess up pizza but at the same time I think it's extremely hard to do pizza better than someone else because it's so simple. It's pretty good. I'll try again, but here's my first take, based on a traditional, giant pepperoni pizza: - The pizza is a proper, New York style. The dough/crust is fairly thin, but flexible, with just a slight crispiness to the bottom surface of the crust, again, very much New York style. - The crust itself tastes great. It's just a little bit sweet, but mostly savory, and has enough flavor to eat on its own. - The sauce was a little too skimpy, not special, and maybe even a touch too sweet. Maybe this is my personal bias, but I like to see and taste a bit more sauce. - Pepperoni toppings were decent, pretty standard in size and thickness, leaving a bit of grease up on top (which is fine - this is what baked pepperonis do). - The cheese is good, with light-to-medium weight. It's not an overly cheesy pizza. Overall, it balances well and tastes quite good. It's also thin and light, so you may eat a few more slices of this pizza than you would of others. Service is nice and the pizza (got carry-out, not delivery) was piping hot and baked right (not too baked, not under baked). So I'll try them again, but I'm just a little under-whelmed. Again, it's quite good, but not 4-stars, just a bit too regular. read more
