So glad to finally find a restaurant open when we found Slim's. Burgers at Slim's had a good flavor, but both the burgers and fries were extremely greasy. Heartburn city kinda greasy. Also, giving Slim's a lower rating because it's a greasy spoon diner in the middle of nowhere very in need of a good deep cleaning and update; bathrooms were gross too. We ordered our food before arriving, had we seen the facilities I think we would have passed by; problem is most places were already closed for the season, or closed on Tuesdays, or closed for the lunch service by the time we were searching. read more

Ordered the fried chicken sandwich & fries which was delicious, my husband ordered the patty melt & soup (he wishes he had the fries instead) We arrived 15 minutes before they closed (1:45pm) and they were super busy. We waited to get our food for quite awhile, the food was good, except the soup (ham & sausage). Our waitress never came back to check on us and had to wait to get our bill. read more

This place is the bomb. Three consecutive years winning the Pasty Fest and for good reason. Best pasty evah! Everything is homemade here and they only use real butter. we had the biscuits and gravy with a side of hash browns and onions. everything is homemade and fresh! the flavor and quality of everything was excellent. the staff was friendly, the service was fast and everything looked clean and well kept. Our Airbnb happened to be next door to this place and boy were we happy it was! We had great breakfast every morning, and for relatively cheap! You do NOT want to miss these cinnamon rolls. Took two to go and wish we had gotten more. I got the cini-mini breakfast and it was delicious. My husband got an omelet one day and classic breakfast the other with a short stack of pancakes and we couldn't complain about a thing. They serve breakfast all day! read more

Food took forever to come and when it did it was cold. I'm not sure how as they were incredibly simple things like eggs, biscuits and gravy and a sandwich of beef on white bread. Completely inedible and maybe 2 stars had it actually been hot. read more

The breakfasts here are top notch. Personal favourite is The Works omelette: thin, perfectly cooked egg wrapped around everything you could possibly want in an omelette. Nice big cookies, too, for fueling a day of UP offroading. Free wi-fi. read more

What's not to like? Everything is homemade. When I told them how delicious the breakfast was they told me that there's not a can inside the place. Everything is made from scratch including their breads, dressings, and the bagel on my breakfast sandwich. Very reasonable prices too. read more

We love Slim's. Everything we've ordered has been delicious. If you are there for breakfast, we recommend the Cini-Mini. A nisu roll as French toast is the star of this yummy dish. Add in some eggs, meat, & potatoes and you've got a filling meal. The new owners are doing a great job with this cafe! Well worth the stop. read more

First, let me say we had been loyal customers for many, many years. Food had been declining in quality and We had some very poor experiences eating here in 2017, greasy, flavorless food that was either under or over cooked. We decided to give it another try as they are under new ownership. Mistake!! They were short staffed and mostly young people with no customer service skills. My husband Ordered a typical breakfast plate of eggs, hash browns and sausage. The menu didn't specify, but it was a patty, not links and was dry and burnt edges. Eggs still had uncooked, snotty whites. Hash browns were browned on one side only and had an odd, translucent grayish color.....inedible. I ordered a 1/2 order of biscuits and gravy with an egg. Food was hot and egg well cooked. The gravy was a little spicy and sausage tasted a bit strange, but chalked it up to spices.; I ate about 1/2. Waitress never came back to ask how it was or offer drink refills. When we checked out, I didn't want to pay for my husband's inedible plate. Waitress had to get the manager who took it off the bill, but said "next time if it doesn't meet your expectations, say something and we'll remake it". Well, I had to go to the register to even get our bill! Waitress never even came close to our table again! To top it off about 20 minutes later I became violently ill and was sick for most of the afternoon. Sausage must have been spoiled. Never, never, never again!! read more

First time here, stopped in on our way home from Copper Harbor. All the places that served breakfast there were jammed packed. Lucky for us Slim's wasn't jammed packed and we got right in. This place did not disappoint. The food is excellent. The cinnamon French toast is well with it. They give you a good sized portion of food for the price. You won't leave here hungry by any means. Wonderful little cafe that unfortunately is up for sale. The owner served us and was delightful, witty and knowledgeable about the food and clientele. She told us at one time she made all her bread and pastries but unfortunately most of the visitors had gone gluten free and she began wasting her daily baked goods. I ordered 2 eggs over-easy, ham, American fries with onion, one slice of white toast and one slice of cinnamon toast. My husband had a Denver omelet with hash browns and white toast. My eggs were made perfectly, as were the American fries. The ham was a nice, thick steak and complimented my breakfast perfectly. My husband's omelet was HUGE, but tasty. The bread was toasted to an almost black state which was a bit too dark for my taste. The cinnamon bread was purchased from Sysco but it was ok despite being dark. The portions could be smaller and the bread toasted lighter but otherwise this is worth the stop. Hurry there before it's sold! read more

We stopped here for breakfast..... only to discover that breakfast is not served after 11 AM. Since I needed something without gluten I got the chili and a small salad. The chili was spicy and hot just the way I like it. My husband had the philly cheesesteak sandwich which was decent. We decided to splurge on dessert. I had the very berry pie which needed more sugar and my husband had the coconut cream pie which was delicious. The servings of pie were huge. read more

The blueberry pancakes are simply wonderful. The "short stack" of pancakes is bigger than the regular stack at most places. And don't think the mini-breakfast on the menu will leave you hungry. Just about the last stop to get food until Copper Harbor, especially if you are taking US-41. They have diner favorites and lot of pie. A takeout burger and fries was delicious and well put together. Also had some very tasty and unusual sugar-free raisin cookies. They were serving up turkey dinners on Sunday as well, with all the fixings. Quincy's in Dollar Bay also has that as the Sunday special. read more

I think this is the only breakfast place north of Calumet. Classic diner vibe. They only serve breakfast until 11 though. We got here just before noon, so we ended up having lunch. The burger was your standard, run-of-the-mill burger. They were happy to put whatever toppings I wanted on it, which was nice. read more

Slims use to be a great place to eat. However their prices are very high. The quality of the food that you get now is fair. Could be better.
